I agree that Halo 2 was the Melee of the series in the sense that it was the most mechanically demanding. I disagree that mechanical skill is the only factor in determining whether someone is good or not. There's many other aspects that contribute to someone's overall skill, such as positioning, teamwork, communication, etc.

I used to love that double shot. It took the right "feel" in order to get it right. It took me several months to actually get it down and even longer to get it down in battle and even longer to get it down in battle hitting someone accurately while im getting shot lol. Fuck I miss those Halo 2 days. I actually made lifelong friends on Halo 2 and I can even remember battles we had against other clans. Halo 2 was still the best out of all of the Halo games. It also had the best physics in my opinion.

This is very helpful in 2018 thanks. I love these little exploit glitchy "broken" mechanics. Give the game character and increase the skill gap. Dark Souls 1 had some tricks like this.

I tried looking online but so far my results are coming up with the same button glitch combos but there is one combo that seems to be lost to the sands of time. I'm trying to remember a button combo in Halo 2 that I believe included B and Y, could be wrong, that allowed you to guardian melee. Basically you can kill teammates, even if friend fire was off. It was something like YYB or BYB or YBY or BBY or YBB or BYY or something else. If you did it right you could melee teamkill your teammate and will say "Killed by the guardian" and we used to troll each other when packed in a room on Foundation playing Zombies.

I had completely forgotten double and quad shot were things, but 11 year old me definitely knew them and got to 40+ with promises from my clan that I'd be MLG if I kept coming to training. Good memories. Watched this after someone mentioned double shot in an MCC PC game! For all that 343 did wrong, including the gambreaking glitches that weren't in the original, I commend them for not "fixing" these. I don't think something like this, that is, unintentionally awesome game mechanics, will ever happen again with modern day one patches. A sad thought.

1:36 WTF ? It's normally 3 melees to kill cause the first melee was a simple melee. However if Default's player was almost dead and his shield reloaded, 2 melees suffice.

In Halo 2 your body's momentum adds damage to melee attacks so if you're going slow enough it takes 3 melees because you're lacking damage.

"B" is the melee button, "X" is the reload button and "R" is to shoot. That being said, if you play on Bumper Jumper, you'd be pressing "RB" to melee, "B" to reload and "R" to shoot.

I was running 1v1s with my cousin last night and we tested how many beat down and it took 5!!! I got the double shot down already but for bxr you would have to aim and bxr at the same time. Wouldn't you have to claw grip? I'm a bunk Jump in h3/4 and I'd have to learn to claw for those too?? Is it possible to do a bxr without claw? And since the new master chief collection will feature bump jump for h1/2 as well as 3/4, can you bxr/bxb with bump jump?

Man I hate that developers put game glitch exploits in the game because it is cheating I understand they do it for themselves at add a shadow layer of skill to the game but it is taking advantage of broken code in the game to exploit cheats/glitches.

Idk if they inteded for their cancel animations to be abused in this manner but left it in because it was cool discovery that made the game that much more fun as well as raise the skill ceiling. But the difference between bungie then and game developers now, is that they get rid of little exploits like this because they feel it ruins the experience for newcomers and they want everyone to have a equally good time. But in order for everyone to have a good time, you have to dumb down the mechanics and water down the experience that takes control away from the players. For example; cut scene assassinations in multiplayer games
