The only thing that pissed me off about Halo 2 more than Jackal snipers on legendary is that your back smacks may or may not insta-kill seemingly completely at fcking random. Like, punch a massive tough brute directly on the center of his back and hes just INSTANTLY dead, no questions asked. But god forbid you - a 7 foot tall cyborg supersoldier with titanium armor - punch a tiny, brittle Jackal slight to the RIGHT side of his back, otherwise he'll barely flinch and fcking no scope you instantly.

It’s about your angle, there’s a specific angle you have to do it at to trigger the insta kill. If you get the angle you can do it 8/10 times at the least. Sometimes not when the physics box overlaps with another though.

I think it's due to the enemy noticing you and starting to turn around right as you smack him, the instakill is only when you are unseen/that unit is not in combat with you/fleeing

Actually there's one more sniper jackal after that one, that's the area where spec ops elites are coming in and after that comes the bridge with one sniper jackal then the doors at the end of the bridge with 2 hunters 2 fuel rod grunts a few spec ops elites and grunts and finally the last room with ultra elites VS brutes, 2 hunters come in and then the last encounter with like 3 stealth elites and 2 ultras plus that weird honor guard councilor

It's actually their character turning around way faster then the animation lets them, also the beam rifle has a slight projectile deviation, kinda like how ghosts and banshees are capable of shooting towards you even though they don't quite face towards you. I once removed that angle deviation and you had to aim the entire vehicle towards the targets cause it wouldn't do that towards where the crosshair was pointing

Me too! It was always in this order for me: 1. Jackal Snipers 2. Grunts 3. Non sniper jackals 4. Elites The Grunts and Jackals with plasma pistols would always be shooting me with toms of plasma shots which would disrupt my aiming attempts at the Elites, and each Elite needed several seconds of uninterrupted focus to kill them on Legendary, so I would always take care of the snipers and then the cannon fodder after that

Halo 2 is best Halo by far. It has the most compelling story, one that had to be trimmed tremendously and still ended up being cohesive. So it could have been an even better game somehow.

In my opinion, they should have given those Jackal Snipers all-new character models and then added additional lore about them like they're the best of the best among the entirety of the Jackal species. I love the Jackals, Kig-Yar, Skirmishers, and what have you. I feel like they could be the primary antagonists of any Halo game _by themselves_ both in the story and in gameplay.

@@arc4859 It is actually not the same. The hitboxes are off. Objects added or removed don't affect where the originals were, which can make you hide behind fake cover or run into invisible walls. This was much worse in CE. Both games seem easier in classic mode too.
