you could make a weapon shoot out enemies in custom edition by scripting the projectile to spawn an AI; it was just tricky because you had to account for and manually place the AI's firing positions on the map. However, a scarab battle usually takes place in an enclosed arena, so the firing positions shouldn't be an issue. Maybe I should pick halo modding back up...

Scarab isn't mechanical. It's biological with armour plate. The reactor and control room is for the mounted weapons.

Reminder that Scarabs are LIVING CREATURES. They're larger versions of hunters, mixed with machine elements supplies by the covenant and the engineers. They're mining machines, but can be used or outfitted for combat. This also means they consist, under that armor... of *biomass.* This allows the flood to take over a scarab.

In Halo not really cause big open spaces paired vehicles being sparse or useless. Is the game beatable without a grapple hook? Probably. But would it be remotely as fun or interesting? Let's put a nah on that. Titanfall added their hook in TF2 while maintaining the core of it's gameplay. It was a nice addition. Halo added theirs in Halo 6 but their core of big set piece battles, vehicle gameplay, weapon arsenal, and enemy variety are there, missing, or diminished. It was a nice crutch to pad out the experience

No it wouldn't, in the lore the flood cannot infect a creature that doesn't have a central nervous system (like the the Lekgolo, seeing as they're worms and lack a central nervous system). Why does a scarab have no place being infected? If you're basing it off of it being a vehicle it's not really just a vehicle it's a giant colony of living worms that was armored and modified. Scarab's are made out of the same worms that make hunters, also even if it was all tech the flood is able to take over and control tech just as easily as biological species.

The fact that halo wars 2 introduced cool banished scarabs and they were completely non existent in halo infinite is a tragedy. Not a single damn scarab fight in the whole game.

The fact that this entire thing was almost completely put together with already existing Halo 3 assets is more than impressive. Would have been cool if we say these during the final flood fight on the halo ring before going to the escape hog or maybe even more than once, like fighting one before going into the control center. If I were to freely design the “flood scarab”, I would probably make it look like the normal one but just incredibly disgusting and disfigured, like maybe making chunks of the armor popping out with huge flood blisters and with bio mass everywhere on it. But to be honest, I’m pretty sure that this isn’t actually supposed to be an infected scarab but rather just a giant flood monster, which sounds more terrifying than the former.

It makes perfect sense that a scarab of all things could be commandeered by the flood, if the operating Lekgolo were killed and replaced by a flood form it would have total control of the platform and could use it to spread spores easily over most terrain.

Bring in the original flood theme from ce but make it darker. deeper percussion and throw some ominous war chants in here and there. faster paced.

The scarab is a collection of lekgolo "worms" like the hunters, so I could 100% see flood infecting them considering they're living matter. I have heard theories as to why the hunters haven't been infected very often if at all is because of the "worms'" small size. But one could safely guess that the individual lekgolo "worm" are much larger comparatively in scarabs to hunters.

It’s just the size of that specific colony creating that hive thought organism. The reason hunters are always in pairs, is because it’s one colony of lekgolo, split in half so as to give them the biggest reason to fight well, to ensure their other half survives. Typically lekgolo have viewed themselves as far superior to the covenant and therefore never care about friendly fire incidents.

It would be cool if the flood took over a regular scarab... This one seems like a living flood creature all on its own... Artistically I could see the flood using elite combat forms or biomass to operate a regular scarab. The scarab would be covered in growth with spores coming off it but it would still somewhat look like a scarab.
