One thing I love about Halo is that even after all these years, there's still new videos coming out practically every week revealing unused/cut content. It's remarkable to think that so much was planned for the games - they are already so deep in lore and excellent in both story and gameplay, with characteristics few games can compete with. Yet, if it wasn't for deadlines etc they could have been even better. Props to all of you involved, and videos like this kinda get me hoping that one day we'll see or hear more on the original Halo 2 script, and discover some details on things like the Forerunner Ship mission.

They were! Sadly the model in-game is static because it's a scenery prop, but the materials are separated between the body and wings. I was also told the wings are very animated in the original boss fight.

There are differences between the point of use of the two types of guardians. They could bring it back. I also tend to disagree about it being "genuinely terrifying" It just looks like a standard forerunner architecture with a big eye. Sentinel enforcers were far more creative imo

What you show in this video (related to the boss battle) is one of the closest ideas about this but we know for sure another one was very close as well. What you expose here, relative to the boss battle, is not totally complete as you said (obviously your link kept a lot of things quiet, but I am sure BRP will let you reveal and show more in the future). However, remember the official MAIN plan for the mission: use the hornet to fly between platforms, and the "chance" to use the guardian's eye as kind of "ball" weapon at certain times. . Enforcers were supposed to be in more parts of this mission too. Your modded version looks incredible. It's crazy seeing this all these years later after salivating at that one concept image of the guardian. My one suggestion would be to add some banshees and phantoms for you to fight in the air, and some Covenant forces on the groundfloor and platforms to keep the level engaging after destroying the Guardian. No idea how difficult this would be to accomplish and to balance, but I think it would go along way towards making this battle a masterpiece on par with the scarab battles.

I think it was meant to act as a guardian of the forerunner forest, since chief had to get through the forest the guardian was forbidding it, I assume thats the guardians function in this case. Its programming was to stop any trespassers from making their way through the forest which is why chief was meant to fight it instead of ignoring it.

@Carlos Emilio My theory is that the guardian forest is somewhat of a secret place that was able to be preserved, unlike the parts in Epitaph, which are in the desert. I'd even go on a limb and say there is a part in a80 in the desert where you first need to locate the Guardian and the forest. Likely candidates to me are the Sandtrap and Sandbox MP maps. They are sand maps but don't remind me of The Ark. I can imagine Cortana taking a lift to the Epitaph section (there is a shaft connecting the base to the actual structure in the multiplayer map) commenting something like "This structure seems to be some sort of an altar for the Guardian. The Forerunners must have known how important it was". And then the player has to find some place to activate an index taken from the Guardian's corpse, like the gun (which maybe serves a double purpose).

anyways the Traveler was supposed to be part of halo at first, the now called "shield world" from halo 3 legendary ending wasn't the Halo 4 shield world, but THE Traveler
