I totally agree with you. I am a HUGE Halo fan. People (those who haven't even played the beta yet) think that this game is going to suck because of all the changes it is going through and that it needs to stay how it was with the first three games. That is absolutely ridiculous. If we have the same mechanics and gameplay as the last game for the next few titles, we lose a great game. In order for Halo to continue being great, there needs to be change. If not, it's just as bad and repetitive as CoD. I myself feel that the game is fluid, fun with friends, and extremely competitive. Like you said, there is also the skill gap, which unfortunately for myself, means I'm going to be stuck at a low level for a while, lol. My only problem with Halo 5 so far is that if your team loses in a game, you risk losing your rank. I think you shouldn't have to be brought down by your teammates if they are doing badly.

Change is good if it doesnt hurt the core gameplay and i feel halo 5 does this better than halo 4, i still think there are some things that NEEEEED to change before release though, but im more hopeful than what i was for Halo 4. I feel sprint, as annoying as it is, is ok, i dont think its as much of a problem anymore, or maybe there are just bigger problems atm. The top two problems i think are TTK and thrusters which seem to go hand in hand. Thruster basically has all the negatives sprint had from Halo 4, people survive when they shouldnt ect ect. TTK is time to kill, in this game, its WAY too fast, people are dropping way too quickly and i believe this may have been done to compensate for thrusters negatives to the gameplay. There is no gun skill anymore, on CoD, you can be a complete nubcake and get a kill. If said nubcake tried Halo 3, he might not get a kill at all because of how gun skill works on Halo, there is strafing, gun accuracy, all that stuff. You die so fast on this game, it makes both aiming and strafing less of an impactful thing, the skill gap is lowered, its easier to kill people and less room to outplay your enemy. TTK being my biggest issue as you can probably tell. The 3rd thing is the assault rifle and ADS, now i know many are overjoyed with the BR not being the go to weapon anymore, but what they dont understand is that the assault rifle was always more of a close range thing, with the BR being the standard fair, skill demanding weapon to start with. Some people may like diversity with the weapons, but Halo isnt that kind of game. The BR takes more skill than the assault rifle and was always the staple weapon in the MLG days with power weapons being on the map. Its a perfect core. Who cares if the AR is left in the dust. BR starts brings about a better core gameplay and its the better weapon for a bigger skill gap and makes gun fights and how accurate you are ect ect more of a thing. Atm, the AR is the better weapon at mid range, it either needs to be a power weapon on map, or it needs to be toned down. ADS is just, disgusting, they said its not ADS and there will be no benefit to scoping, but they lied, reduce the spread of the AR or something to give it some range so its not only effective at shotty range or something, but plz, get rid of ADS, change for the sake of change and they lied which is frustrating

I hate the TTK in Halo 4 and Halo 5. They make it feel more traditional. I don't mind the ADS but am kind of indifferent about the thrusters. Also, some of the weapons (such as the new looking rocket launcher) don't look very appealing to me.

NerdPublic I personally don't hope they do, and it is also unlikely that they will. Firstly, all 343 knows is halo. Many of the developers have only worked on halo, and some have worked on it since halo CE. Also, they said the wanted to move halo out of numbers, because they don't want to be selling "halo 17" which basically hinted they are planning to make more main halo games after halo 6.

You're probably one of ose guys that hasn't even played the BETA, let me just say this if you think H5 looks and plays anything like AW then you must've been smokin weed or some shit when playing it because I've played both games and I can say H5 plays nothing like AW to play AW all you have to have is concentration and your favourite gun that's it, you don't need your team mates you don't need a power weapon, however in Halo you NEED your teammates, in Halo you NEED those power weapons because if you don't you'll be part of anoer guys killtacular medal.

I was actually pretty impressed by Halo 2 Anniversary, and playing my favorite Halo game (3) in 60 frames per second was nice. I was pissed the online was broke as hell but now that it's working, MCC aint so bad. Still haven't messed around too much with the Halo 5 beta, I have some other games to finish first but I will get around to it. Interested to see how the game is coming along, although I'll be honest, while Halo is my favorite franchise, it's not because of the multiplayer... I'm one of those weird Halo fans who cares more about the singleplayer campaigns.

Alright so I understand why people feel the way they do about matchmaking don't get me wrong I do I understand the struggles because I suffered with everyone else. Here's the thing...THEY HAVE CAMPAIGN FOR A REASON!!! Sorry to get cappy but seriously everyone Legendary solo on all 4 of those campaigns + Legendary Spartan Ops which they added recently + the coming soon ODST campaign for free + doing all the campaign achievements = IT TAKES FUCK TONS OF TIME! Not ragging on people but seriously that's why the campaign exists is to play when you don't (or how it used to be) when you can't play matchmaking you play campaign. About the beta: I like it a lot it feels all kinds of fresh as well as familiar at the same time and I can't wait to see what else is in store

I dont think so, i mean, what was VERY disappointing in Destiny was the storyline, which was a huge CRAP, and the DLC thing, both not existing in Halo. Halo always had a flawless storyline and telling, and this DLC thing never happened. Actually the Destiny gameplay is really fun, the disappointing part was what i told about. Thats what i think.

Just had to say, in reach sprinting was amazing because the maps were set up so that running away is only possible if they are shooting you across the map. Jet pack on the other hand... Has no place in halo. I guess I mostly like sprinting because I'm the person who likes to take on 4 other people by myself, and reach was perfect for me. Can't battle 4 other Spartans unless you can sprint around the corner, crouch to disappear and get an over kill with a sword unless you have a way to briefly increase your speed.

This is not true "Halo" it doesn't feel like halo. This is COD, like i feel 343 literally heard everything we didn't want and put it in the game anyway. I'm not into this armor ability, speed boosts, jet pack bullshit. Every gun should not have zoom, thats just yells out COD. This is more arena based gameplay like a call of duty. From a competitive stanpoint the way the game plays, and the way the maps are structured, not saying the maps are bad, but from a competitive standpoint, it looks like trash. I was a big halo fan, been since combat evolved, but after MCC and then all this hyped optimism for H5, MCC was my last purchase for this franchise, this was the only reason i mostly got a X1. Keep the series "fresh" try saying that to Counter-strike lovers. atleast that fan base isn't near extinct.

***** This is a prime example of a "Casual" Halo Fan's thoughts about this beta. This game plays NOTHING like Halo 2. I've played since Halo 2, and competitively played since late H2 to H3. I'm a veteran, and this h5 beta plays nothing like the classic. The fact that you said that shows you're pretty blind. Sprinting needs to go. Like you said. H2 was fast paced. NO NEED TO MAKE IT FASTER. ON the beta you played default layout and that is a killer. It will play barely like old halo if you change it to recon, and I STILL don't like it. The skill gap is still non existent. The rankings mean nothing if you can be pro rank and still get matched up with noobs that ruin the game for you. It is impossible to search by yourself and get a decent game. They also went too far with keeping the game "fresh". If the classic Halo was so popular, why deviate from it? They could implement thrusting and MAYBE the ground pound, but sprinting killed Halo since H4 when it became a button. They made the AR and SMG too strong so the skill gap is non existent. MCC is much better to me. It plays like classic Halo and HCS is great with it. Then you see h5 and it makes most veteran players want to cry. This is the one Halo, I potentially may not buy. As much as I've played this game, and loved it, this is the one Halo that makes me want to puke. And the people who will tell me don't buy it, just stop. I want to enjoy a new Halo, but this is too much. If 343 takes feedback from casual retards, then this game is not going to end well. They really need to take feedback from veteran players who have not only played Halo since the beginning, but have a brain. Tell me, If the skill gap is there, Why am I getting clipped by noobs easily? Two bullets of an AR is killing me when I try to run? Or that an assault rifle or SMG can trade kills with a 4 shot Battle Rifle? That's broken in my opinion. It's not even balanced in a competitive way and appeals to casual players who want to feel like they're good at a broken game. Your "Casual" impressions of this beta are an example of what could possibly make Halo die as a competitive e-sport. Halo was indeed terribly but so was this beta. This beta had TONS of flaws that 343 has basically admitted they're not going to do a damn thing about. they could care less about real competitive input from good players. You're right about Halo 5 being meant to be different. Because it is not going to be a competitive game. It is made to appeal to casual idiots (like you), and little 6 year olds who's first ever Halo game was Halo 4. Their transition to seeing the amount of changes must blow their little minds, but makes good players want to puke. Also H5 is again going to be connection dependent. They they are gonna have dedicated servers, but tell me i would host switch so many times when i saw ppl quit in that beta? If the servers aren't working, they go back to host. and just like MCC, that is 90% of the time. So 343 to me is shooting competitive halo in in the knee caps.R.I.P True competitive Halo 2001-2012. If you want to see a true veteran player, Add Rcgue and I will show you what a real player is. I can transition from each Halo and still manage to take a dump on your face. I'm not Happy about this new community. the new Halo community is split. It has the veterans who know what they are talking about, the casual veterans (you), who say they have played Halo since CE but are blind to see what 343 is doing, and then there are your Casual players, the people who just play Halo for the campaign and attempting yo have fun in multiplayer (noobs that go super negative and cause good players to lose game, also 8 yr old kids fit in this description.) So what fan base do you think 343 is going to listen to to actually make a profit off of the game? Of course, in order to make money, they will make a game for casual idiots to like the game. And they have basically told all veteran and competitive players to go fuck themselves. So I'm actually sick of kids like you who think they know what they are talking about. Halo 5 has so much potential, but 343 will not listen to the real player who know how to make the game better. Rogue Dude, the one sentence in his comment you need to get through your skull is this one: "Now, with Halo 5, players have multiple options to approach every scenario, allowing for any number of outcomes, and allowing ones skill to TRULY play a part." Adding more systems to a game, as long as they function well, adds depth and allows players with greater skill to respond to each situation uniquely and creatively. It is more rewarding gameplay when you have multiple abilities to use and correctly apply them to the situation at hand. Look at 10:57. He pops the shields with the sniper rifle, and before the guy can get away to use cover, he uses the thruster to get a good angle and finish him off. He used quick thinking and skill to get that kill. That's the potential of this game, in a nutshell.

darkphoenix2 what you need to realize is that is all pointless when the game is designed for casual noobs (like you).Now don;t get me wrong, the thruster and ground pound is ok, and I've juked the living shit out of kids doing it but If someone is trying to escape, you can clip them with two shots, mid-long range with an ASSAULT RIFLE., mid range SMG melts you, and escaping is damn near impossible unless you literally keep running and praying to God you dont get shot once while you;re one shot for 15 minutes. This is the one halo where an AR is even in damage with a frickin Battle Rifle. It's flawed and not balanced like it was promised. The only way you can even hope to survuve is your teammates, but you match with noobs on your team that do no help in the first place which is why I said the skill gap is not there. the matchmaking is still flawed LIKE I SAID. See the chain here? Unbalanced Gameplay+ Bad MatchMaking system+ Bad Dedicated Servers= A complete mess. It's a copy of destiny and is deviating from true Halo.

I'm not gonna buy this game, not because its a different take on Halo, not because it does not feel like a halo game. I'm not buying this because it does not appeal too me or my audience anymore. Just look, everyone who played Halo from the start were probably kids or teens. Now that time has passed they now have jobs, going into collage and or have a family. They don't have enough time for Halo or they can't put the amount of time they used to into it. So how do we keep a strong player base so that the franchise does not go dead? Appeal too the younger audience who grew up with the generic military shooters. That is why there is so much change in between 3 and 5.

343 did not develop MCC. The companies responsible for the colossal failure are: United Front Games, Certain Affinity, Saber Interactive, and Ruffian Games. And 343 is going back to fix a game they did not even create. Bungie is on the game because they are credited for creating Halo 1,2,and 3. 343 is credited for creating halo 4 and that is it. 343 is taking all of the heat for something that isn't even their fault.

The ADS/smart-scope whatever is left trigger *only for the default button layout. Not to call all default users newbs, but I feel that anyone who's played Halo long enough to care about being competitive in it has moved on to different controls that suits their play-style (i.e. I use bumper-jumper because it just feels more effective to me). I think 343i did the right thing though; they set up the default layout in mind for the majority of fps gamers (COD players, Battlefied, etc.) and then all the other layouts that seasoned/competitive Halo players are used to playing with are more so faithful to Halo's controls. That's my thoughts on it anyway.

Well that's not the only purpose of the Elite controller, and compared to other mod controllers $150 is a save. But I do agree that button layout customization shouldn't be restricted from non-Elite controllers, but that's business I guess. If I was still playing 4+ hours everyday like I used to in highschool, I'd get it just for the durability alone, because I wore out a few controllers on the 360, lol.

I like Halo 5 a lot but I'm not a fan of everything looking so bright and reflecting lights. It takes away from the beautiful art the game has. The shield sounds are too loud and have a too high frequency which sounds annoying. The hitmarker sounds need to go as well. Overall I wish the classic zooming stayed to maintain the classic weapon looks but overall 343 did A LOT better than Halo 4 with 5.
