So many late nights with friends...... So many long convos in matchmaking lobbies..... Agreed, the nostalgia that I feel when listening to this music is palpable. Would I rather go back to those times? No way, because the sweetness I feel, now, savoring the experience of what once was, but now is no more..... wouldn't trade that for the world. Daily playing Halo 2001-2013. Best gaming year of my life.

Wish we could. Just one last time have that moment back :( Halo has been the hugest motivation in life. At any point where life seems down or seems to be crashing in now that we’re all men or nearly men, but just coming back to all of these halo soundtracks just bring immense relief and nostalgia. Not only has Halo given me a brotherhood to cherish, but it has countlessly helped me get right back up ready for a fight. I don't know if its sad or warming to the heart that a lot of us are coming on here to express how these days have come and gone. We all miss those simple times as younger individuals. I bet most of you wouldn't trade anything in the world for the memories you all made playing these games with your friends. I wouldn't either. Time has made these exciting times a thing of the past and people have moved on with their lives. Some of us hold these memories very closely and still hold our inner child inside us. Mourning in a sense that most people have moved on and some of us are still here, still content to play these games while we build our lives and the people who we cherished back then have left us to follow their own journey. We truly don't value a moment until it becomes a memory. I miss my old gaming buddies deeply, so very very much.

Very different genres, I mean yeah, cod games have good music no doubt (BO2, MW series) but a lot of it is a little bit generic and very "action music". Halo hits different, so much of the music is unique, it feels calmer, it fits halo. CoD is a very fast paced action shooter and for that, its music works, but halo, halo transcends into the great beyond, and sends all who listen to it into the great journey.

I remember long nights playing halo 3 with people I never met. Talking about our personal lives. Relating. Building friendships. Building the ultimate maps. Countless hours in forge. Downloading other people’s maps. Griff ball. Infected. Trying to get outside the map. Lobbies full with people talking. I remember waiting for my friends on the other side of the country or even world to get on. When that slow piano music played on the start screen it hit different. I’m 28 now and I think back on all the laughter and rage, friendships with complete strangers. Saddest part is, as far as gaming goes it was the best years of my life. At one point we all got on together to play for the last time and nobody knew it.

It speaks volumes when the music of a Game is all that’s needed for u to RE-create that same world in your mind with ease... I’ve only come across two separate universes that are able to do this for me. One being this Right here my baby, Halo, and the other being the menu theme for Black Ops 2... recently “The Mandalorian” has been able to reach that point for me as well

@schoze96303 жыл бұрын
I feel a nostalgia for a time I never had. I was the kid who could never quite understand social cues, leaving me lonely for the first thirteen years of my life. The few friends I had were always moving away or switching schools. I was left with a yearning for memories that I could fall back to for comfort, but they were so few and sparse that I eventually began to rid them from my memory because they were always surrounded by other, more lonely memories. My brother would have made things a lot better, but I never got to to meet my brother until I was seventeen. When we finally met, I made sure to make these years the years that we would be able to look back to with nostalgia and fondness. I have made peace with the fact I will never have this again once it is over and we live our separate lives. So I will do my best to cherish and cement these times; completing all the mainline Halos on legendary, watching the world flip out in 2020, experiencing our first job together, introducing him to American culture, listen to him ramble on about star wars while I gush on about Halo, looking on as Kimetsu no Yaiba surpassed One Piece in popularity in Shonen Jump for the first time in forever, beating eachother senseless in Naruto Ninja Storm 4, going insane over MW 2 and 3 veteran spec ops, and so much more. I guess this is just a condolence for everybody who had strict parents, no one to play halo with online, or just didn't have access to this type of stuff in the past. Even if you couldn't make memories before, make them now. "It's finished." "No. 𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙬𝙚'𝙧𝙚 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙"

Probably the most carefree and happy moments of my life were spent playing Halo. I remember when my little brother and I would spend countless hours making forge maps. I remember going crazy trying to finish levels on Legendary but then finally beating them after hours of trekking through them. I remember cheering him on as he tried to survive just long enough for me to spawn back in from taking the lead; watching him get better and better. I remember getting angry at my friends for not wanting to "play with a squeaker" but then them loving him for how good he got. I remember you showing your friends all the cool tips and tricks I showed you. I remember getting yelled at for being so loud while we screamed in horror at the Flood levels on weekend nights. I remember saving an energy sword or gravity hammer for you in every mission we could find it. I'm sorry I didn't spend more time with you doing so. Maybe if I did, you wouldn't have fallen so deep into drugs. I miss you, man.

I remember I used to play these games all the time with my brother and dad. Never competitive, always the story. We loved being able to play together instead of against each other, so it would just be two of us at a time mowing down every enemy in sight and just generally having a blast. I loved them so much and they turned out to be disappointments in every sense of the word. I still love them of course, but I can't respect them anymore, and every now and then I play Halo and remember who they used to be. I remember the epic times and battles we shared together, how proud we were when we finished CE on Legendary for the first time, everything. It hurts so much. I wish I could relive those days so I would know to never take advantage of them. May the mission never end, fellow Spartans.

I looked this up hoping to find something to listen to before going to sleep but after reading many of these comments I'm having a bit of a much needed cry. I've always had fond memories of this game with friends, but most of all my older brother. He got the original xbox, as well as halo when it first came out and even though it wasn't part of the job, he always let me play. We would beat the campaigns on legendary, find all the skulls, then do it again. We would have sword and sniper fights on Lockout or Beaver Creek and set the killcount to the maximum of 250 and play all night long. I remember I named one profile "ABusLoadOfKids" and we would laugh when the killfeed said you killed or were killed by ABusLoadOfKids. Unfortunately my brother passed away last June, we we were both excited for Halo Infinite to finally come out since it had been delayed. I finally got around to playing the campaign, and while I had a lot of fun doing so, many of the elements felt a little bittersweet. Anyway, I know this game has an extra special place in many of your hearts, as it does in mine. Sorry for rambling, and thanks for anyone who read

Thank god none of the other halo games are like this. I really wish they would have changed that about Halo 2 for the Master Chief collection. It really makes Halo 2 the worst game in the series when it had the potential to be one of the best.

@@lsporky3567 So, in Halo 2 if you're playing co-op on Legendary (and only on Legendary) and one of you dies, it automatically makes you start over from the last check point. In all other Halo games, your partner just has to go to a clear area with no enemies and you can respawn off of them. In the Master Chief Collection, this is what the Iron Skull does for all other Halo games but it seems to be hard coded into Halo 2 because whether you are playing with the Iron Skull on or off, it doesn't make a difference. Are you saying that when you play Halo 2 Co-op on Legendary, you can respawn off of your partner?

Hello everyone. born in 2005, I was a little late to the "Halo Party", which i so wish I could have been a part of. I've played all halo games atleast 10 times, went through every little easter egg i could find in all games, and still feel sad that I didn't have any friends to feel this experience with me (most of them play more modern games, understandably). Listening to this music just brings out a part of me that makes me feel like I'm my own little family of Halo gamers. To make this short, I would just like to say, thank you for being part of my secret little family. Bungie, you have created a part of me that I will never ever forget. Continue your Great Journey everybody.

I still remember when both me and my cousin were in primary school, and we got Halo 2 in our hands. We absolutely LOVED it. So much so that we’d replay it over and over again when we had the time. Having pizza and soda while we rescued soldiers from High Charity, played Hide and Seek with the Scarab’s Ultra and trying not to get killed by his energy sword, my screams of joy when I got to play as an alien, both of us RUNNING for it during Flood missions… Good times, good times. I still play the available titles on MCC PC since I don’t have an Xbox, and my cousin’s a PS5 user now. Re-experiencing these games as an adult is truly a journey.

Many peoples memories of HALO are from playing it with friends, family or maybe alone, experiencing it as a solo journey of discovery. All have a favorite. For some it's the OG, HALO CE, the one that defined shooters on a console. For others it's HALO2, the long awaited sequel that almost wasn't, forged in the fires of rushed development and yet came out a masterpiece in it's own right. And still for some, HALO3 was the pinnacle of Chief's story. And don't forget ODST or REACH, many won't....ever. For me, though, given my age, when HALO came out I was already a veteran gamer and deeply enjoying PC's Renaissance for several years now. The 3D accelerator (GPU) had propelled the PC from a console alternative into a league of it's own that consoles were only now trying to catch up to. I'll always cherish the memories of my Pentium2/400 with 128mb of RAM, THREE video cards (a Rendition-based Diamond Stealth S220/4mb for 2D/3D and TWO 3DFX Voodoo2-based Diamond Monster3D 2s/8mb in SLI for pure 3D!), all the titles I tried or bought in that four year time frame from 1997 to 2001. But from 1998, I started to see occasional glimpses of a game that looked very special. It didn't have a name yet and was being made by the MYTH (and Marathon) devs, Bungie. First it was to be an RTS, since those were all the rage back in the mid to late 90's. Then later on it became a sci-fi 3rd person shooter. It looked AMAZING! The environments left my mind reeling of the possibilities! What was this ring? How big was it? Were there cities? How was it habitable? Would it have a day-to-night cycle? Weather? How would weather work on a ring like that?! I just couldn't wait to see more and play it! When it was announced to be a MAC exclusive, I even endeavored to buy a Mac JUST for this! I wouldn't be denied! Then we found out it was becoming a 1st person shooter! WOW! Maybe a Quake-killer? It was billed that way. I still had so many questions. An FPS on Mac?!? I mean, there was Marathon and I suppose Quake ran on it, Doom did, Duke did. Why not this? Though Macs weren't exactly graphics powerhouses at the time. The big thing was iMacs and they were anything but beasts. Still I hoped and wondered. The screenshots looked amazing. Every new article had me daydreaming for weeks! Then a video came out! OMG! It looked even BETTER in motion! I WANT THIS! I HAVE TO HAVE THIS! I imagined so many scenarios. I wanted to know if the clouds moved. If the water moved. If there was any wildlife? NPCs? Was it open world at all? So. many. questions. Then, out of nowhere, the announcement of it's name - HALO! And that it wasn't a Mac-exclusive but an Xbox-exclusive now! What the hell is an...X-..book? Box? Is MS crazy?! You can't play an FPS on a console with a gamepad! It just doesn't work! The PC version was also announced but would come later so I held on. I gobbled up every last morsel of info about it and when the Xbox launched and HALO was out, I watched in AWE! I read every review! It actually WAS playable on a console! How in the hell...? Finally the PC version came out! But by this time my Pentium2/400 was long outdated. I didn't have a good replacement for it, just a borderline AMD Duron650 with a rickety Geforce2...MX. Ugh. The day came and I bought it! I knew it wasn't going to be pretty but I could at least PLAY IT! And I was NOT disappoint! Something I hadn't even >considered< was the soundtrack! Man, the music on this is PHENOMENAL! The graphics were...not the best, the GF2MX didn't have the onboard RAM and shader support to show HALO in all it's glory but it was enough to play it. A few months later I was able to get a new system with a Radeon 9800 and that was like playing a different game altogether! Shaders and effects that either didn't play or played incorrectly on the GF2MX (like the Elite's shield effect being blue or purple when shot) were running as expected and what a difference! I played the entire game TWICE over the course of two weeks and I was speechless! And I very quickly got a hold of the soundtrack! So while most HALO fans remember the sequels, I fondly remember the originals long-awaited release and the twists and turns it took to get there. I think a lot of my nostalgia comes from the endless times I sat and just daydreamed what the game would be like when it finally came out more than what the game itself >was

Epic story! I too was on the cusp of cutting edge gaming at the time. A good friend of mine had an N64, where I would literally have dreams of owning one... The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time was my first -AWE- moment. I had seen 3d graphics done on the PSX and Sega Saturn, as well as Mario 64... but OOT was the awakening in my soul... That games COULD look realistic, and it was just obsessed going forward. It's funny now, seeing how low-spec OOT really was... but then came the XBOX... a friend of mine who was an avid Dreamcast gamer was so over the moon about this console, I of course had no idea what it was, until I was seeing posters, game-informers, etc about Halo... I never had consoles, until purchasing a GameCube in 2004 when it was already getting close to end-of-life. I was a PC gamer... so when I heard about Halo coming to PC?!?! Oh man... that was it... I don't care what people say about bump-mapping, and how "poor" the PC port was in comparison... it was HALO DUDE! Running on my shitty Windows 98 Pentium... Beautiful days... I wouldn't fully experience the wonder that is Halo 2s story (played plenty of H2 at friends houses) until I bought my first Microsoft console ever in 2006, being the Xbox 360. With it receiving backwards compatibility sometime in 2007 post "blades" dashboard... Then I delved in. Was there for Halo 3 midnight... ODST... Reach, 4 AND 5.... Infinite is pretty great too.... Overall, the gaming side of Halo has never let us down, and let's not mention that live action.... uhmm.... what happened there??? DOESN'T MATTER. It is isn't cannon ;) My personal hero through this all has got to be Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori... they brought these worlds to LIFE with music.. beautiful.

Halo is just a once in a lifetime franchise. While the change from Bungie to 343 caused some turmoil, each game has a masterful soundtrack which I will cherish for all time. It hits me every single moment that I listen to it. It strikes sudden nostalgia for a time from the recent past yet it seems like centuries have passed. Doesn’t even feel like the same lifetime, yet it was. Human emotions… what a powerful thing it is. A gift and a burden. No matter the age, listening to Halo music makes me feel those feelings I felt many, many years ago now. And that’s a good thing. Even if it brings some tears along with it. Thank you, to you, and all the other channels that have uploaded Halo music.

We actually had splitscreen and online play in the same xbox 360 - imagine that. We'd get through another week to do it all again. I even realized one night, as we were all laughing and joking with each other while the main menu theme played, we were sharing something we wouldn't have again.
