Halo Anniversary Legendary Walkthrough: Mission 6 - 343 Guilty Spark

I must admit, the idea of the flood running rampant throughout the facility and you not encountering them is a lot creepier than actually fighting them.

You actually find corpses of dead covenant in mission 5 dead elites and grunts without your intervention. Also i'd like to correct your statement in Hokki's school of Halo episode 5 that the flood combat forms are entirely immune to melee. Their immune to one shot melee's in the back but not to being killed by bashing them to death it often takes an unreasonable number of strikes to kill them with fisty cuffs but can work if they ware wounded it can be an effective finisher when facing 1 to 2 of them. This is my experience on legendary difficulty and it should be noted that most of my testing was done against disarmed combat forms of both variants. in the MCC While it's impossible from a practical perspective it's not the same as it being impossible from a mechanical one. That said this guide is still incredible and i'd like to ask what mission do you believe is the easiest in the game?

destruction42k - Easiest mission in the game is this one, 343 Guilty Spark. Also, all of my advice in both my walkthroughs and School of Halo series is meant to be from a “what is practical” perspective rather than what is technically possible. Is it _possible_ to kill a Gold Elite Commander with nothing but an AR on Legendary? Yes, technically, but it sure as hell isn’t practical.

I originally asked as i said to a friend that you said 343 was the easiest. and i miss quoted you on that saying it was One of. in the guide. While part of me loved your irritated rants at how the assault rife some how seamed to get worse in every subsequent game it appeared in. It made me wonder would a highly reliable work horse assault rifle that has tons of ammo that you spawn with on most missions and could rip and tear anything without a shield to spreads at mid to close range make other weapons that cover similar niches irrelevant. Most of my halo 1 AR use it hit stunning large crowds of enemies in place until the grenade i just threw bows up. but using a weapon slot just to massively increase the mileage of my grenades is strangely effective in specific encounters the weapon is so useless on it's own that it might as well not exist. Though while you quite rightly give the assault rifle slack you never seam to point out the redundancy of the covenant plasm rifle ether while it's good for stripping shields why would you when plasma pistols are a dome a dozen.

@@NationalAeronauticsSpaceAdmin spoiler alert*. ok so basically you are looking for captain Keyes, which happens a bunch in halo ce. You eventually go to this swamp as this was his last known position you go ahead and explore the swamp thinking everything is fine and it’s just covenant. WRONG, you just discovered the most dangerous life form in the galaxy by accident, which is for the best since now chief knows it exists and knows he has to destroy it. So you go inside the facility and get that recording of how the marines met the flood, and boom, you must now fight you’re way out. Sgt. Johnson was there to, but he’s pretty much nigh immune to the flood so he’s the only one not infected, Keyes gets caught by the flood as scene in the penultimate mission Keyes. Master chief makes it out of the facility and meets the levels namesake, 343 guilty spark, who is that floating orb that’s talks to you. He pretty says to chief, ok you pretty much are the only one here who can destroy the flood and teleports you to the library which is the most hated level in the game btw. You do this to get the codex so you can activate the halo ring and kill the flood. But as it turns out 343 lied by omission cause in the very next mission it turns out that the halo kills everything but the flood, leaving it to starve, cause flood need to eat apparently. So cortana is like, you can’t Activate halo cause then everyone will die, but you can blow up the halo ring instead, so they blow up the pillar of autumn which in turn blows up the ring which gets rid of that threat. But it was useless ultimately cause there is like 12 rings if I remember correctly and more flood, and blowing up the ring made the covenant mad. But the ring blowing up made the arbiter Thel Vadam stripped of his honor, and eventually went against the covenant, spurring the events of the remaining halo games. Hope this gives a little insight, tl;dr you meet the flood and get teleported away.

This has always been one of the creepiest Halo missions. When I first played it, I was freaked out. Halo: CE definitely was a very dark Halo game, and much more scary than 2 or 3. But I do admit, the Gravemind was pretty freaky in Halo 2.

For the curious: it is possible to save the marines at 23:16, but it may as well be impossible on legendary. It requires you kicking a lot of ass, being gung-ho about ammo use, and making sure you get most of the flood's attention because if the marines are hit once by any weapon, they're dead. Once the fight is over, they will just crouch in a corner and run out into nearby firing positions, then back to the corner over and over again yelling "This is suicide!", "I'm getting out of here!", and "We're hemmed in!" over and over again.

Yep. Fucking brilliant move on Bungie's part. Not just from a thematic approach either. By this point in the game you're used to how the Covenant fight, and this is several hours in likely for new players so you're under the impression you've seen everything the game can throw at you. Then this happens and you're suddenly fighting an enemy that doesn't use tactics, has no sense of self-preservation and will only single-mindedly try to drown you in bodies until one of you is dead. Covenant at least give you time to pull out of a bad encounter, but the Flood don't. Hell, they don't even have animations for moving backwards or strafing like all Covenant enemies do. One of the best plot twists in gaming imo.

I used the original music for the entire walkthrough. I tried playing with the "remastered" music and thought it was all crap, (especially "On a Pale Horse" from AotCR and "Devils, Monsters" from this mission) so I switched the music back to the original tracks, while keeping the anniversary graphics.

The Library is actually one of the easier mission in the game. The hardest mission is Two Betrayals.

Drake Cunningham The only really tough part in the Library was the torture chamber (the defence section located in between two security doors where you don’t have a lot of space or cover to work with). That said, you deal with every encounter in that mission the same way: use the pistol from medium range; take cover around a corner and blast combat forms that chase you with the shotgun; use grenades to take out large groups and buy time to reload the shotgun. The Flood in CE are generally easier to deal with than the Covenant since their only advantage is numbers. They don’t use cover; they don’t evade/use grenades (carrier forms notwithstanding); they don’t have any shields; they don’t drive vehicles. All they do is rush which makes them EXTREMELY predictable.

There are quite a few optional rooms in this level. - After encountering the Flood, you can go back to the first elevator and trigger an event there. - In the room at 27:25, if you go to the upper level you can access another room that is full of the Flood, if I remember correctly. It's been like a decade since I really explored the level. In any case, that's not the room that leads to the final elevator. One of my earliest memories is playing The Library with my dad. What I remembered was the Shotgun is really awesome and that there are these lumpy enemies (Carrier Forms) and these little enemies that die when they run into you (Infection Forms). When I got to this level myself a few years later, I was like "Oh yes, things are about to get good!" The Flood were like old buddies. I don't know if it is just me, but the Flood in CE were pretty adorable. The Infection Forms die on contact (until your shields run out, they're terrifying then). The Combat Forms without their whip arm just follow you around like a loyal pet. And the Carrier Forms waddle to you so cutely. Also to anyone who's playing CE for the first time, play this level in classic graphics. The extra details are way more worth it than the pretty scenery.

The thing I don't like about the new graphics is the elevator shaft full of blood is severely toned down. That was one of the scariest moments in the original graphics, the elevator going further down instead of up, seeing blood everywhere, and combat forms with weapons waiting for you at the bottom

@@screwmuckduck8905 Certainly not. Though that is pretty unsettling, you usually won't run into that elevator at all on most playthroughs (personally I first ran into it by accident). The elevator Samsara was talking about is the one at 22:16, when you ride down the elevator it looks normal at first during the ride but the Devils.. Monsters soundtrack starts playing as you're lowered into a section of the elevator shaft that is covered in grunt blood with several drag marks from what was clearly a one-sided massacre that's near impossible to miss. Indeed. I often find much more shotgun ammo than I did this time. The marines will be carrying them, and a few combat forms will have them. It was a combination of me being unlucky and impatient . Usually, when you first find a shotgun (on Legendary) you can find enough ammo to have about 52 shots (12 loaded, 40 extra). Even so, this shows that you can still make things work with limited ammo.

The dropoff area? As in, where you start the mission? Dude, there's only a shotgun there on Easy. Even on Normal it's gone and you have to find one later. On Legendary, the first shotgun you can find is the one that I picked up in the video.

I found that an effective way of dispatching Combat Forms with the assault rifle is not to shoot at centre of mass but rather to shoot at the Combat Form’s whip-arm. Only works on unarmed Combat Forms though.

An easier strategy for killing the Grunts and Jackals at the entrance to the Forerunner facility, is to pick up the Active Camouflage. It's located on the left side of the large metal pipe, that's to the right side of the tree-bridge at 2:46. You can then kill the Grunts and Jackals fairly easily with melee attacks from behind and/or with grenades.

I know it's a year late but it's because the cutscenes are scripted and thus Chief's default weapon is always an AR, whatever weapon you have in gameplay doesn't matter. I believe Halo 2 is the only game where whatever weapon you have as the Chief or the Arbiter will appear in their hands during certain cutscenes (only in the original graphics as the Anniversary graphics are pre-rendered cinematics obviously).

Hey, Hokie I have a question for you. I was just interested in case you had any knowledge of it. We know that this mission has very different indoor graphics in the original and Anniversary and MCC. I have also found that people have a great difference of opinion on the flood in halo. Do you think that which edition they first played the game on has any effect over that? If not, could you do a poll on your channel asking their opinion on the flood and the version they first played it on?

I did not get the Shotgun til the Last 3rd of the Mission, cause the midway point did not have the shotguns you mentioned on the floor🤣. Managed to finish it by only dying once. They got me from behind.

Something many people have also pointed out in this mission is that the combat forms you see at the beginning of the mission are mark as friendlies on your motion tracker

Not sure if hokie still reads comments from a video made long ago nor sure if it appears on legendary. But at 2:51 to your right there is a pillar and a bush in the corner. Hidden in the bush, there is a camouflage pickup you can use to help you when it comes to killing off grunts and jackals when they run out of the facility, that way you can conserve more pistol ammo and grenades.

This mission is why I quit playing Halo. I played the 2nd game bedore5 the 1st, and had absolutely no knowledge of the Flood until the Oracle mission. I took me months to beat that game, even on easy because of how scary the Flood missions were. Then, came 2007. I was as stoke as everyone else about Halo 3, especially the online multiplayer, sonce I missed out on that experience with Halo 2 due to not having a computer or internet access. I decided that wanted to play the original Halo 1st, before buying an Xbox 360 and Halo 3. Missions 1-5 quickly brought back the thrills I had playing the 2nd game. I knew I was going to confront the Flood at some point, and really wantes to have the courage to face them. But when they 1st appear I'm the recording on this mission, I completely froze and eventually turned off my Xbox. I never played continued playing. I determined at that point that I was not going to play Halo ever again, or at least uae my own money to play it. I felt that if I couldn't beat the campaigns because of fear, then I don't deserve to play multiplayer; I still feel that way. Those feelings come back everytime a new Halo game is around the corner, just like now with Halo Infinite. I still hold on to my PC copy of Halo 1, in the hopes that I may one day get over my fear and face the Flood.

Me and my brother played halo ce before when we were in the mission 343 guilty spark in normal difficulty we were introduced to the flood and got scared and I also tried to save the marines for this mission a gives a ten out of ten

there is a creepy as hell glitch where if you grenade after the cutscene ends you can fly out of the map and you see Manuel Mendoza

I have managed to somehow find shotguns on a lower difficulty in the very first area by taking a different route. No idea where they are, or if they even spawn on Legendary.
