I just received my color and I’m trying to figure out how many fences I need. I guess I’m not understanding why I would need more than 1 fence..
@WorldAnimalFdnАй бұрын
Basically, it just means setting up one fence in your yard, for instance, and maybe a second fence at your friend's house, assuming you and your dog go over there a lot. I have four fences in Florida (one in my yard and the remaining three for testing purposes) and one at my parent's house in Tennessee because we visit two times a year. They don't go away just because your app is focused on the fence you're currently using. They sit in the background, deactivated or activated according to your needs. When we travel to Tennessee, I deactivate my yard fence and, once we're inside the boundary in Tennessee, activate the one that's been sitting there for half a year, waiting on us to come back.

Do u know if the halo 4 is multiple use compatible? I wanted my parents and I to be able to use the app at the same time to see gps tracking
@WorldAnimalFdn2 ай бұрын
Multiple collars are usable on the same app, and you can use the app on multiple phones. However, for the latter, everyone has to be logged in using the same credentials.

I have a quick question! When I'm out camping, hiking, or backpacking in areas that don’t have cell service, I’m a bit concerned. If I pay for GPS service, will the collar and app still work without a signal? Thanks for your help!
@WorldAnimalFdnАй бұрын
It will, but only if you set up the virtual fence in the area where you're going to be staying before you get there. I know that's not always easy, especially if your camping spot is a bit random. But, if you know where you're going, you can make it work that way. The only smart collar on the market that works entirely off the grid is the SpotOn. It comes with an "Off-Grid" mode that allows you to set up a virtual fence while actively in an area that has no coverage. Hope that helps!

If you already have a Halo 3 , can you purchase a Halo 4 & still use it on the same smart phone & app. Also can you have both on the same smart phone but have different fences for two individual dogs under the same app.
@WorldAnimalFdn2 ай бұрын
You can use multiple collars on the same app and smartphone, regardless of the generation. You can also use multiple collars with multiple fences, all on the same app and account.

I see from your video of the back side that they have corrected the worst aspect of the design which was the probes passing through the strap collar so that all G forces of the dog shaking (like they do to shed water) were transmitted directly to the weakest part of the collar. It was an atrocious design for a dog collar. However, the second failure point was the point where the strap looped through the slots at the ends of the electronic portion of the collar. Not real convinced that the plastic there won't fail still due to normal dog behavior. They did a good job on the electronics/gps dog training aspects, but they really need to consult a good mechanical engineer and buy a basic vibration table to simulate the dog motion that breaks their collars.

I agree and I will also add that Halo was having some issues with the software during the time period I was making this video. The issue was with the GNSS chip. Transitioning from low to high GPS was giving the collar serious problems. Over the course of three software updates, it’s really improved the response time and accuracy, especially in the woods.

Great vid ty. I really been going back and forth on spot on or halo now halo 4 is out😩 confusing more plus price difference. Can it also be used as a training collar through app? Vibration/static. Thanks again
@WorldAnimalFdn3 ай бұрын
It can. In fact, the Halo probably has one of the most robust training guides/videos/setups I've ever seen. The app is loaded with video content, but they shy away from using the static/shock part of the collar and focus heavily on positive reinforcement. You can also do a live training session with a qualified professional and the app includes a "virtual dog park." I trained mine kind of old fashioned-repetition with the occasional treat. They responded pretty well but every dog is different, and I think the Halo app does a good job covering all the training bases.

People you would do much better if you buy each collar and try them for yourself. I can tell you I have the Spot On and I’m returning it because it’s nothing but a paperweight. There have been times when the fence fails to operate and my dog is able to walk right across it and nothing happens. In addition, when I try to use the tracking feature it tells me that there is no cell signal or a weak signal for the collar and or my cell phone, however, on my cell phone I use multiple eSIMs so that if one fails to receive a signal, the other one will and still I cannot track my dog if he gets away. What good is that for a collar with a price tag of $1000. I could take and strap a cell phone on my dog and get better service then I’m getting from this $1000 collar. Why does the collar some times power off but not all the time?😏

Thanks for this review! My question to you as a professional, SpotOn or halo 4? I am aiming towards SpotOn strictly because they are US based and literally 40 minutes from my house.
@WorldAnimalFdn3 ай бұрын
That's really hard to answer. They're very, very close. I just completed a comparison video to an under an open sky, the Halo 4 was a tad bit faster responding to crossing the invisible fence border. In the woods, it was only a hair slower than the SpotOn. Both took just a little too long to go off when I crossed the boundary I set up in the woods, but they were still closely matched in response times.

@@WorldAnimalFdn In your testing did you face the Halo collar down, the way it would sit on a dog?
@WorldAnimalFdn2 ай бұрын
Actually, the collar sits sideways. The Halo 4 has a split in the middle, unlike previous iterations, with one side heavier than the other. Gravity forces the collar sideways. This is how I placed the collar on my shoulder, with the collar facing sideways and the heavy side more downward. When my dogs wear it, it typically shifts this way as they move around. I think SpotOn does a better job with a similar concept, but sideways is better than below.

I've been waiting to pull the trigger on the halo or a spot on until some reviews come out. Have you noticed if the dual band GPS solves some of the consistency and accuracy issues many people reported on the 3? or would you say the spot on is the way to go if wanting to make sure that warnings and corrections are delivered as consistently as possible?
@WorldAnimalFdn3 ай бұрын
I just finished up a comparison of the SpotOn and the Halo 4 and the two were almost identical in terms of accuracy with a tree canopy overhead. I've been a huge fan of the SpotOn for a long time and the Halo 4 is the first collar to come along that I feel is a real competitive option outside of the price difference. Keep an eye out-I'll be releasing a full comparison video soon!
