Remaster ≠ Remake ≠ Reboot They are very different. Remasters are re-released versions of a game that tidy things up, improving things from the original release. Kinda like Skyrim Special Edition Remakes are the "same" game, but made completely from scratch and are usually complete overhauls of the original experience, even adding content that wasn't in the original, such as cut content. Like the Resident Evil Remakes. Reboots are used as revivals for old series, they typically alter the plot extensively and are not canon to the old games, as they most often try to make a whole new universe based upon the old one, such as Prey 2017 (or in Halo's case the terrible silver timeline).

i think if they go the route of Resident Evil it’ll be great. By that, I mean they release remakes as kind of an exercise of the RE engine, and to clean up the story a bit and make it all fit together, and also have new games come out that might have a longer than normal dev cycle getting extra time to make sure they don’t fuck it up by rushing it

Yeah, I get that. Certainly that’s the best case scenario. That’s why I used Dead Space as an example because it basically did the same thing

I agree that the game CE still holds up really well, aside from some minor issues here and there (most of them have been fixed by mods. Ruby’s Rebalanced is probably the definitive way to play the game. I just wish he’d made a version that includes Digsite content. Definitely play it if you haven’t). But, the Halo brand DEFINITELY needs a remake that brings the series back on track, and brings in new people. If done right that could be truly phenomenal (you’ve already read my ramblings about what my idealized CE remake would be, and I don’t feel like repeating myself), but it could also turn into a dumpster fire. It could go either way, and I’m not going to be hyped for this reason. We’ll just have to wait and see what the final product of it exists is. I’m most likely going to try it out because I’m morbidly curious. Two other things I’ll say are CE deserves a remake far more than Horizon Zero Dawn (a PS4 game that still looks good, got an fps boost on PS5, and the PC version can be improved with mods. Those same resources should’ve been used to bring back Killzone/Resistance), AND Goldeneye for the N64 is an example of a game that aged HORRIBLY (there’s far better shooters from the N64 like Turok, and Quake 64).

What ODST needs is an overhaul that changes the gameplay from diet Halo 3, to a tactical shooter with a fully fleshed out stealth system (think a Rainbow Six/Splinter Cell mashup with Halo content). It also needs enemy Elites, with Brutes appearing at night and in the last few flashback missions. ODST was a MASSIVE missed opportunity. We could’ve experienced the Great Schism from the perspective of a normal human who actually PLAYS like a normal human, and not a super soldier who gained weight.

If its done at all it NEEDS to be faithful to the source material I wouldn't even care if it's just a halo 3 re skin. But it needs to be a good job. Not the half assed thing we got in 2011

CE had a lot of copy pasted missions and boring library episode everyone hates. This should be fixed 2-3/Reach are fine. 4 either needs to be fixed entirely or retconned to be not canon alongside 5 and Infinite.
