I bought one for like $20 about ten years ago and have since modded it and use it pretty regularly, although I have never played a Halo game on it.

I lived in a high rise apartment building for six years (2011 to 2017). In that time I would regularly find original Xboxes beside or in the garbage room. I amassed a large collection of perfectly working Xboxes. Nobody wanted them, I couldn't sell them, I couldn't even give them away.

Wow Adam! Great story! I really enjoyed hearing it! So I actually own the Halo green special edition Xbox console too! It's one of three OG Xbox consoles I own. I found and bought mine years ago at a local yard sale. It came with both AC and AV cables (Microsoft brand), and the matching green color Halo wired controller. To tell you the truth I forget what I paid for it, but I'm really glad I own it and still have it today!

The story behind that halo xbox is pretty messed up. I assume anyone wanting the box had a console they wanted to house. Except the box contained a pristine machine. I want to hear his side of the story because it makes no sense to me.

OG Xbox is still fun to play and revisit classic games like Fable, Conker, Halo etc. One of the best (if not the best for modders) console ever, still looks great on modern TVs with proper upscaling.

Huh, i didn't know that we got all the interesting variants of the Xbox in Canada. Usually its the other way around where the states gets all the cool stuff and we get the sloppy seconds. Same, but mine burst and lost it's HDD key at some point after a few years. It jammed when I was a kid and could never get the tray back open again until I tried repairing it as an adult, which is when I discovered the popped capacitor and dead HDD.

I'm in the UK & I have a PAL vanilla green console same as the one shown in 8:27. They released 5000 of them over here. Not sure if the 5000 units were only UK or Europe as well.

I got one in summer of 2004 and still have it today. While I can't confirm it, the 200,000 production number is exactly what I was told by a store employee at the time I purchased it. Thanks for the interesting story on this one! Lazy or not, I'm still a pretty big fan of the green color scheme, haha.

I had a Halo Green developer launch console with the text on the orb saying congratulations on the launch of Xbox 2001 and was signed by Bill Gates circa 2003, It was given to me by my brother's friend Ashley Hall who was the CEO of Warthog Games which became part of Tiger Telematics of Gizmondo fame. As for the console it blew up after 2 years as the power connector came loose from constantly moving it from from my house to friends houses. I didn't even realise how rare it was until a couple of years ago! :(

They're not an exceedingly rare console, I've seen two here in Colorado Springs, but Halo was the first game I ever played and I grew up on the original Xbox so I just had to have one. Now it and Silent Hill are my two prized gaming possessions. It would be a dream to have the orange Halo Xbox 'cause it just looks so damn cool, but that's never happening. I'd really encourage people to check out the OG Xbox if they hadn't. To this day it has the cheapest library of games on the market (including the Wii) and everything looks and runs a lot better than the PS2, not to mention having more content oftentimes. If you get a proper setup the games still look gorgeous. And it's also one of if not the best console to mod if you're into that. It's an emulation juggernaut. At the end of the day, it'll probably be my favorite console of all-time (mostly because I think the library's slightly stronger than the 360). Thanks for the video, Adam.

When I was a dumb kid I sold my Xbox for a 360. Wanted to get one back, bought a used Halo Xbox from Gamestop. I actually hate that green, so I gutted all the innards and put it in a standard black Xbox case. Very Exciting story I know. If you fell asleep reading it, I fell asleep while typing this. The European green xbox was also plain with nothing on it. We also got a 'crystal' one that was clear white. I had the green one. It had 2x green controllers with it. They did the crystal one first with 2 crystal controllers but it got re released with 1 crystal controller.

As a massive Halo fan, I'm not disappointed in the console's story at all. I thought it was pretty cool and smart of them to do. Quick side note, I am not at all offended that Halo was never your jam. To each their own man.

Growing up in Canada my whole life and owning the crystal OG Xbox myself I had no idea all those variants were exclusive to Canada. They’re all super common over here, I’ll see them in retro game stores and thrift shops all the time. I just assumed they existed in the US too… that kinda blew my mind a little 😂

Evenually Adam's going to post a video talking about how one day, 12 years ago he was walking through the Sahara Desert after a sword fight with 3 clowns and found a pristine copy of Stadium Events in a sand dune, but he simply forgot about it until recently. Halo is my favorite franchise and the OG Xbox is my favorite console, so as much as I'd LOVE to get one of these... I ain't paying over $200 for one. I already have 4 normal OG Xbox's so like... nah. I recently got a working Halo 3 Edition 360 for like $80 which was a steal, but man this one is just a whole different story now. Also knowing that it's just a Halo label slapped onto a green Xbox shell from the Debug Kit gets me feeling even more like it's not worth it. Idk

I remember my father buying this edition back upon it's original release just so we can have two Xboxes in the house. Good times, unfortunately the controller ended up getting wrecked and the console traded in once the 360 was released. One of my biggest gaming regrets so last year I decided to rectify that hunt one down on eBay. Ended up getting it along with a bunch of games bundled together, was soooo worth it. Sega Saturn AVC cartridge, please become a thing. 700MB CDs don't bode well for movie length films. I'm having to use CQP on TMPGEnc to maximize Mpeg quality and file size and for the better part of my personal work: Chicken Run, Flushed Away, and Curse of the Were Rabbit have turned out to be great Mpeg-1 files due to their consistent 1 hour 24 minute time lengths. Now I'm dealing with Halo Reach before 2022 abandons the Xbox 360.

I have one. Clock cap removed before it started leaking. Also had to do a full board recap due to glitching video and cap bulging. Installed xecuter 2 mod chip and 2tb hard drive. I have a few that need dvd drives. Those Toshiba Samsung SDG-605 drives are trash. The eprom dies on them for no reason.

My one and only OG Xbox is a Limited Edition Green Xbox (PAL UK) with 2 matching Xbox Controller S, essentially the same console but with the PAL BIOS and no association of any kind with Halo!

I swear half of all xboxes I saw in my lifetime were this variant, I can't believe only 200k were made... Also I remember the halo xbox box, was kind of cool... but why ditch everything inside? Also most of the appreciation for halo comes from people who played goldeneye/ perfect dark on the N64, specifically the multiplayer. And when people have good memories with friends they probably never saw again... criticizing Halo may strike a nerve, haha. I say that as a Halo fanatic.

I have a European crystal Xbox , very nice looking albeit unlike the normal one, the plastic can yellow slightly . Its also the 1.6 revision of the system , which means a couple of games (mostly Sega ones) , have issues in 480p if you mod the system (standard , unmodded PAL systems have 480p taken out in software)

As someone who regretting giving away their Xbox and has been looking for one ever since, this $25 for 2 Xbox’s story is brutally cathartic! There was just an assumption that they’d do full backwards compatibility and it just never materialized. Also it’s odd that the Halo Xbox is more valuable than the crystal xbox, you’d think the crystal would be higher demand.

I never knew that about the original Xbox and that particular green color. The fact that they just reused the casing and slapped something on the front of the console or in Canada's case, just nothing at all is kinda silly. It kinda reminds me of when Nintendo released that Black Friday "themed", small New 3DS back in 2016. The only special thing about the bundle was the Mario themed faceplates that came with it, but here's the thing. All they did was take the same faceplates that were already available in Europe years prior and brought them in North America and basically called them "special" when they made that Black Friday bundle.

If I already have an Xbox One and am getting an Xbox Series X to replace it, do you think there is a purpose in buying a 360 or original Xbox? I was just unsure if either really had any amazing exclusives you couldn't play on the Xbox Series X. Mind you I would rather get Sixth generation games on the GameCube, where available.

I've decided If I'm ever buying an OG Xbox, I'm getting the mountain dew one. and modding the heck out of it, just because. Ok not just because, but because I want to have the ultimate console in the ultimate color variant, which for me it's the mountain dew one. I did this with my Blue Hello kitty dreamcast and I love that thing, it has every mod under the sun, except the DC HDMI, which I have the kit for, I'm just too chicken to try and make it happen. But soon I'll get it done, I just ordered the right tip for my soldering Iron, heck yeah.

I purchased the Halo Xbox during the summer of 2004. My PS2 stopped working and I decided to buy an Xbox instead. That was the only one they had at Target. Interesting to know the true origin of this console. I still have mine. It’s great.

Never owned the OG Xbox, but I do own some of its games and play it on the 360. I'm sure the experience is better on the former, but owning any console made before 2008 sounds pricey unfortunately.

I cannot believe how expensive the original Xbox has become I bought the Halo edition back around 2016 because I was looking at getting an original black model but my friend convinced me to get the Halo since it should be "rare" compared to just the black model and they were going for the same price at the time. After buying the Halo edition I saw it everywhere though the years but damn that price jump I am glad I picked one up when I did. I would sell it if I wasn't attached to it also being a collector it would be wrong to do that. I love how the word collector is just a nice word for hoarder. What you need to do in one video is pretend to have the camera off center so that you can let us see what's in the massive pile of things you have on that side just to screw with people curiosity.

I don't like halo but when I was looking for Xbox original on ebay I actually saw halo edition Xbox for $80 little wore out and filled with dust I get it I didn't came with green controller instead it come with a ea while controller I had to buy the green controller spread I don't have the EA one anymore I still have the piece that came with it years later I learn little about it because I heard there some Xbox version that leak from certain clock piece thank God my version doesn't do that. I upgraded my hard drive and now I own a modded 2tb Xbox original halo edition how sweet is that it was really hard to mod

The Same OG Crystal green edition withouth the logo is also in Europe, we also got the Crystal Clear, but not the beatiful Skull Smoke and the Kasumi Blu. Life is suffering.

Life sorta got in the way of the hobby as of late but I’m still super happy with my modded OG Xbox consoles my son and I worked on together. I stopped at having 3tb custom drive images and I even ended up scoring a trusty modded 1ghz board that I haven’t put together. It has been tested works fine.

Dang... id have kept the original console with that box and traded in the non boxed one. Then again the boxes dont have any system specific numbers on them like we see now. So matching SN# wasnt a thing back then. Ive made deals on empty boxes to make my systems more complete. So yeah... it can / does happen.

I remember going to a game store a few years ago and they were using the original Xbox as a door stop. It’s nice to see that at 20 years old people are finally starting to get a little nostalgic for it and it’s starting to have at least some value. That console will always be a bit special to me simply because I got it at like 13 years old and it was the first console I have ever owned. All the others we had growing up were always my older brothers. I sold my Xbox 12 years ago for like 20 bucks and I have regretted it ever since and have refused to get rid of any consoles since then. I still have my 360 s setting on my tv stand even though I don’t think it has been turned on since the Xbox one came out….I really need to get that and my Xbox one stored away.

I bought a Xbox the week after Halo 2 came out and I remember considering this model (they were seemingly everywhere at that time) but opted for the regular black model as I felt the green behemoth might just be a bit of an eyesore.
