Not just face, but his writing on 1-2-3-ODST defined the tone of the story for me, like he hand scripted some cinematics even, the camera work, controlling characters and moving them and recording their animations, a bunch (and of course voicing grunts, iconic stuff), without his touch, Halo lost a lot in Reach, 4 & 5.

@@Padlock_Steve Oh yeah absolutely, Marty also was important in giving a soul to the franchise, his music is exemplary, and I can excuse killing Miranda & Johnson because I took notes from Serenity and wanted this sendoff to the MC saga before leaving Halo behind (they had plans already to leave Microsoft then), and it's how to make it raise those stakes for the final part of their trilogy and leave on a bittersweet note. I also tend to think that Marty didn't just write "soundtracks" but actual musical compositions, as a fan of classical music I feel that the music he wrote had an actual 3D multilayered structure that had a beginning, middle and an end. I know people love the new Infinite soundtrack, but to me it doesn't feel right, not rising to the level of music, it feels flat, just taking the main beats and forgetting many layers and overall structure.
