I'm not a huge fan of 343, or at least what they've given us for Halo campaigns thus far, but I have to say I am really enjoying this Multiplayer with Infinite so much that it gives me a bit of hope for the Campaig. The way the game feels & looks so far (even with this mp) is is definitely the driving factor here. They're doing a bang up job with this Multiplayer so far imo.

Yeah I was playing on Series X last weekend and it was the only thing that really stuck out to me. I was playing at 60fps and it was still really noticeable. It only happened sometimes though, there was no consistent way of replicating it. Halo 5 had something similar, but it had to do with the 3rd person animation of other players at long distances. When players were really far away, their animations would drop to like 15fps, it looked really bad. This seems to be a glitch that wasn’t in the first flight though so hopefully they resolve it before launch

I watched this video and came to the comments looking for this. I was starting to think my Series X was having some issues. The animations are definitely running at at different frame rate at certain times and it’s quite hard to replicate, there is no rhyme or reason. But strangely, I seem to get that inconsistency way more often at the shooting range than in the game, that maybe the reason the DF gurus missed it.

I thought you were speaking about OhNoItSAlex channel, he brought up all the issues with PCs issues and spoke on it. He got a lot of backlash but what he said in regards to pc issues was spot on. They really need resolve issues with PC rigs and patch all that before they launch in December.

I don't really see where you're coming from when you say it's "not a very enjoyable experience" because of these issues. Does it have plenty of problems that should definitely be fixed before launch? Absolutely, but none of these issues really breaks the experience or makes it difficult to enjoy, it just demonstrates a slight lack of polish that I fully expect to be fixed either in part or in whole before release. Like personally I thought it really sucked when I was unable to get my RTX 2060 and i7-6700k setup to give me consistent 120FPS or above even at the lowest possible settings, when I can easily get that kind of framerate on Crysis Remastered (albeit with really reduced texture quality) and DOOM 2016 with literally no compromises, but I didn't even notice the weapon animation thing, and it did absolutely nothing to mess with my overall experience of the game, and I had a lot of fun mostly fighting against bots. You could make a convincing argument about the gameplay not being enjoyable if you had certain gripes with the game design, but in terms of technical issues there really isn't a lot that's going to totally ruin the experience, unless you were one of the unlucky Nvidia 900-series owners who have major problems running the game.

Hey Alex, I'm curious what the GPU utilization and FPS counter would have said had you tried the game on a all AMD system with a Ryzen and RDNA 2 card. Just any amd gpu system would work. Nvidia's drivers love to try to go and reinvent the wheel on drivers which can cause issues on dx12 until game ready drivers are available.

Was hoping the FPS issue for pc would have been resolved for this build . With a 5900x 6900xt gpu I could not get above 95 FPS at 1440p , didn’t matter if it was low or ultra settings . Typically would be around 300 FPS with other shooters. hopefully this gets addressed.. GPU utilization was also in the tank which explains the low FPS.. and with a 240 Hertz gaming monitor it doesn’t handle FPS too well below 100. Because of the freesync range. Other than that , absolutely love this game so far on the multiplayer level. Solid map design with good pacing and lines of sights .

It’s actually very encouraging but also sad. One X was a significant step above the original One S in 2017, yet in the bulk of its 3 year existence, a lot of that power was left on the table by developers. To be sure, Halo Infinite was designed by 343 with last and current gen Xbox consoles (and PC) in mind. However, this video is proof that a game targeting the more powerful machines can still run on the One X smoothly and at laudable resolutions. It honestly makes me wonder what One X could have been capable of if it served as the base Xbox hardware for last gen and not the One/One S models. Oh well…

It's a small detail, but I really hope some of the shadows come back on the Series consoles. It really helps open up the "boxed in" feel that some maps in games can have, bringing in pseudo-light sources from outside the map's viewable area.

IDK why xbox is so f**** slow when it comes to FSR adoption. I've got a nvidia pc and it's running amd fsr flawlessly on everything from Deathloop to RE Villiage. Xbox S|X is a fully fledged amd rdna 2 console yet has none of their major technologies up and running which I find f***** bizarre.

Such a smooth and tight experience on a relatively new series ii controller. Im actually fairly cobsmacked at how they managed to marry the unity of sharp and tight movement, aiming, fire rate, ttk. It's hard to describe it any other way apart from a grest take on the older halo mp titles. Some issues working out whether avatar in me is red or blue due to light flicker and background. Didn't happen but the two times it did, it did tick me off a bit. Still if this continues to shape up for retail in the way it has so far...pfft ms is gonna have to borrow some ps5s to increase server load. I will highly doubt they would have crapped all over the campaign esp after being well aware of the faults of the last. So essentially..we maybe looking at the series x's first killer app. Forza 5 not far behind it

The graphics are way better than the original campaign footage, but I still have a few issues on pc max, which is a shame because the geometry and texture resolution are really good 1. Shadow resolution is WAY too low, to the point where some plant pots and rocks don't cast shadows at all. 2. Screen space contact shadows and ao often has a big gap between the object and the shadow it's casting 3. There's no bloom! Explosions, fire, the energy sword and muzzle flashes aren't bright enough to glow at all so just look like flat sprites. Even the sun doesn't have any bloom so I suspect it just isn't implemented at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of bloom and flares are 343i catering to the comp community for visibility. Hopefully campaign doesn't suffer the same fate. Otherwise, game looks great!

I'm not talking about anything crazy anyway, but emissive objects NEED to be brighter, and would look better with a slight glow Its important not to get confused with weapon bloom which is a gameplay mechanic the competitive scene doesn't like either.

@VinAr Run Exactly the game isn’t groundbreaking with graphics yet it gets 100 less fps that what I can get in a game like destiny 2 and u know what… sometimes Destiny 2 looks better despite being a older game and when it doesn’t look better it looks around the same. If this is how multiplayer runs, the open world be be far less probably which is worrying.

As much shit we give to Bungie they know how to optimise their open world and make sure it looks great (though it’s been a bit rusty since the new engine implementation for them but covid and all kinds excuses that).

What about the Borderless fullscreen / windowed only presentation on PC? Could that be something affecting performance across the board as well? I know for me, the biggest issue with it currently is that it prevents Gsync Compatible functionality (nv gpu + freesync display) from working properly since that setup requires exclusive fullscreen still. No matter what settings I tried (and I tried basically everything, including Special K for forcing further options), I was always experiencing some frame pacing issues and microstuttering. I pretty much had to rely on external vsync and hitting the refresh rate as mentioned for "smooth" results, but even then, it was a bit iffy when looking at the frametime graphs, plus of course the additional latency is undesirable.

In the NVIDIA control panel under setup G-SYNC you can enable it to activate for windowed and full screen mode. Don't forget to tick the box that says ''Enable settings for the selected display model'', I think this option is for monitors that arn't validated by NVIDIA. I use FreeSync as well and my monitor isn't validated but it still works.

The reflection on the forerunner metals is withered down by sun, sand, elements. If it was serviced, washed, buffed, polished by someone it would probably reflect realistically like a brand new car that received a fresh paintjob. Age and lack of service is also an element that reflects realism. My car is crusty when I do not service its paint. As for my PC. This game had a glitch that set my gpu temps to max. my PC overheated my room with the house and window AC on, first time since the 1990s since I had a pc do this.

The PC version is really odd. In the first flight I couldn’t get more than 70 FPS on 1440 and low settings. Last weekends flight I was able to stay above 100 FPS at high/medium settings while at 1440p. That said I also saw that a lot of other’s situation stayed the same as my experience from the first flight. Hopefully it gets ironed out before the beta/full release.

The game ran abysmally on PC. Using an RTX 3070, I was barely able to get 100FPS on 3440x1440 on any settings (actually, I think the graphics settings are broken because they do not change anything), while multiplayer shooters like this generally run at least at 200FPS (if not more). Plus it felt like the game was stuttering and dropping frames regardless what I set the frame limit to using RivaTuner.

There were a couple of small patches pushed out on PC for the October flight. One was 4mb and the other 74mb if I remember correctly and those completely fixed the frame rate and vsync issues for me. Can now play at a locked 60fps at 4k High settings which is just awesome 👌

For the one x, Aside from the obvious of switching to Performance mode in the game settings-on your actual Xbox settings, go to General>TV & display options and switch your Resolution to 1440p at a 120hz refresh rate. I initially had it set to 4k 60hz and its virtually unplayable. At 1440 120 hz it feels like a completely different game and much much smoother. Happy flight, sorry if you didn't see this in time!

Playing this on series x and it's been an absolute blast. Hats off to 343 they've proved the doubters wrong. Infinite is literally a million times better than 4 and 5 combined. I'm addicted to this game and can't put the controller down. 4 and 5 became increasingly boring after an hour or so of play. Now that xbox has ID software (DOOM devs) in their stable I absolutely cannot wait for the future of this franchise. Halo is back on track!

My 2700X with Vega 64 was unusable last weekend with the CPU pegged at 100% and GPU not being utilized properly. The two small patches for PC this weekend have fully resolved that issue. CPU stays around 30% and GPU is pegged when running at higher settings. Can't wait for next week's comparisons.

Part of me is really curious if this is actually Series Enhanced in any meaningful way. Of course it's going to be labeled as such and require being installed on the internal drive, but nothing about this so far tells me that 343 is putting in the work that Coalition, for example, would in terms of utilizing storage speed, new decompression tricks, GPU speed, and CPU power. This feels like the classic "Series S plays the One S version at higher frame rates" situation that we've seen from so many devs before, which is a shame because Halo is supposed to be the flagship of these early years. I'm still absolutely in love with what I'm seeing so far, but there's definitely some flaws and theories to be pointed out.

14:40 - I think it's fine that xbox1x could potentially be out performing the Xbox Series S on some games, where it's possible. That is, where games like (apparently Halo Infinite) can take advantage of the extra GPU power to use higher res textures, etc. and still maintain 60fps. So far, it's the only game I've heard of that's pulled that off. Don't forget, that until last year - you could still buy xb1x and it cost $100 MORE than an Xbox Series S. So sure, let those xb1x owners 'get a graphical win' every now and then, no matter how small it might be! :)
