I never liked the idea of 90% of the multiplayer not allowing other people to see the colors of your spartan by forcing the red and blue colors. There shouldn't only be two game modes we're being able to pick your colors aren't pointless.

I think the enemy outlines should be off by default. However, keep the outlines on your teammates. It might be good to have the option to toggle enemy outlines for accessibility but they could also have a setting where the enemy’s armor is just whatever color you need for the players to stand out better.
@CRIMSON-FLAME13 жыл бұрын
As long as our team has some sort of UI on their head I believe we would be OK. But for people that think otherwise and or are colorblind there should be a toggle. Those are my thoughts on this. Because as you pointed out the UI for our team members are practically apart of our Spartans.
@Girthworm_Jim3 жыл бұрын
Like has been suggested before by many many people, a great middle ground is indicators for friendly, whether they choose to use an outline, user-defined colored name tag over their head, or a triangle like in previous games, and have the enemies with no outline and a user-defined colored nametag pop up when your reticle is over them. Outlined enemies have some inherent flaws. From a player perspective they make it unnecessarily more difficult to see the shield break animation, they don't allow using the environment to try and evade enemies and play more stealthy and instead it's akin to putting a huge "shoot me" sign over your head if you even have a single pixel showing on the enemy screen, and tbh they really just take away from the art design of the game/immersion/whatever. In the flight I couldn't tell you what an enemy's armor looked like because I was too focused on the outlines in the gunfights. Not the case in previous games where I would sometimes call out an enemy based solely on the armor they had. That last point brings another issue from the developer's/monetization side of things: with the outlines, why would it matter what armor or color you pick when you are just going to appear with a big glowing neon outline to the enemy which hides some of those details of said armor? Why does picking your color matter when its going to be drawn over with whatever color the other player decides to use? In my opinion outlines actually negatively affect the entire point around having no team colors. In the end, less clutter and a more streamlined UI not only looks more polished, but it makes the game more enjoyable to play. With glowing neon outlines all over the screen it can get a bit annoying and detract from the visuals of the game. If I had any say, my vote would be for the subtle-yet-effective user-defined colored name tags over the heads with small friendlies' indicators that can be seen through walls would be the better approach, at least in my opinion. That doesn't mean throw away the outlines altogether, they are perfect for a spectator mode, just not while actually playing the game. Just my .02

I agree... I really feel like the outlines make it too annoying and sort of pull you out of the game... maybe do the thing MW19 does where names show on the top of players and coloured with either green or red for allies and enemies. Maybe they could do that kind of system but make it so people can choose the colours for those who are colorblind and stuff... it just pulls you out just seeing a mess of outlines especially for stuff like bigger team battle... like how can that one guy who hides in the corner with his sniper do that now? When in the past everyone could do that, everyone could hide in some place waiting to jump on anybody. Now I feel like it would be harder for that kind of element because of the glow players have... same thing with CoDM thats why i hate that game sometimes because they sell you tactical stuff like the Grinch skin with the ghillie suit and yet you just glow red to enemies...

A really simple solution would be to keep the friendly outlines, especially through walls. But remove the outlines for enemies. You know someone is an enemy just as easily, the screen is less cluttered, you can still keep track of friendlies through walls, and stealth will work again. Most games have a similar system where friendlies are marked, but foes aren't and it works perfectly. It's not a hard fix this is coming from someone who doesn't mind the outlines at all. That's exactly what they shouldn't do. That way, you'll have to move your reticle to the enemy to figure out if they are a foe or not and then strategize, which will almost always get you killed. Better solution - Remove friendly outlines by default but have the option to enable them. Keep enemy outlines, ( maybe have separation with shield colors and outline colors ) but have an option to make the enemy team literally red ( or any other color ), this is similar to Splitgate and it works shockingly well.

Which is very noticeable in the old Halo games. But with the outline around the player, it gives me a quick Identification no matter what color armor the player has on. But if I had to pick something the old or new, I would pick something in the middle. Where a player can be whatever color they want and the Identification only shows up on their teammates. I honestly like the change, but it can still be better. I've played Halo since the start and it worked for 1-3 because of the minor customization (but it could still get confusing which team I was on when colors switched every match). When Reach came out I loved the expression of different armors and wished my color combos wouldn't get covered by the team colors when that was what I was primarily playing. I think the outline glow still covers those aesthetics and makes it feel more arcade-y; shoot at the brite glowing enemy. I would prefer primarily team/enemy UIs as most modern shooters have that implemented (blue friendly, red enemy), and I've never had an issue figuring out who was on which team with just the name plates.

I'm a bit of an outlier. I'm quite colorblind. And in all my years of playing halo I rarely think about the team color I'm on. 99.9% of the time I'm looking for the friendly service tag or emblem or gamertag over their head. Then I shoot at anyone without it. The outline system I find to be ugly visually. I'm all for no Red VS Blue team colors, I'm actually very excited to finally be able to have my base character colors in most multiplayer modes. And all I ever needed the game to tell me is who my friends are, I can decide the rest. There is also Halo's 'Stealth'. If an enemy is sneaking out the corner of my eye and not glowing, and I miss that, then they deserve that advantage on me because they were taking the time and consideration to slow down and sneak a little. Or say someone is in the enemy base and hiding as the rest of the team charges past so they can run and grab the flag. If players are literally GLOWING then these fun moments will happen a lot less or just never. I also understand the accessibility to the outlines. And that's great, I do really appreciate that. But at the same time with Red and Blue they would always blend into map backgrounds fairly easily for me, or even just blend together if they were close enough. Thats why I love having the service and/or gamer tags over friendly players heads. Such a simple and easy solution that Halo and other games have been using for years. Interestingly enough I had to change the player outline combinations multiple times before I found a pair of colors that I could easily distinguish from one another. Be it if the first flight had the service tags working like they wanted then it wouldn't have been as much of an issue. In a lot of shooters or even other team based games I rarely have the player outline or color be the defining characteristic for their identification. It almost always breaks down to being the player Name or Arrow or Service Tag over their head. But that's just how I see it. If people really want or need the outlines that's great. But I dont think Red vs Blue needs to return either. Just plain names and service tags will do the trick and I'm happy to see this video pushing closer to that conclusion. In the end, I'll be happiest when I can turn off player outlines and just have friendly service tags. Great video! Love the content! I always stay tuned for all the details.

They should keep the system they have now and just add to it for the visually impaired people out there. So instead of just having two options for colors we need to have a color option for shields popping and a color option for the over shield that would alleviate a lot of problems here, but I honestly do believe that there needs to be a red vs blue toggle in the game for the people that have played halo for the last 20 years & also the competitive side of things as well. I do not want to watch halo esports if every person is going to be rocking different team colors on every screen that is going to be so confusing to watch unless everyone on one team is rocking the same team color and the enemy team is rocking their team color that the other team has them labeled as. I think this system is going to be a mess for competitive otherwise. Just add a toggle for rvb and both sides will be pleased. Everyone saying there should be a toggle isnt thinking practically and doesn't understand the full problem. As much as I would love a simple solution like that, first of all the people who still have the outlines on would have a huge advantage, kind of forcing everyone to use the outlines. Toggling them off is only half of the problem though, because others can still see your outlines, which means no stealth. As for those saying that they should keep friendlies glowing and remove enemy outlines completely, that winds up going against the whole accessibility thing 343 was trying to push- because colorblind people then would not be able to see enemies. Unfortunately 343 backed us into this impossible problem when the simple solution would have been to just keep Red VS Blue and allow people to change the two colors to other colors that they can see well. But unfortunately, a simple solution was not the driving factor of this change, it was purely money for the cash that armor coatings will suck in. There's really nothing more to be said about it. We will probably get used to this inherently flawed version but it will remain inherently flawed

eh, I would love to have the RVB option. I've found while playing the last flight that my reaction time was a bit laggy and at times prevented me from saving a friendly that was getting shot at off-screen. That same night I went back to H5 and had no issues.

Enemies shouldn’t be outlined/have green arrow/players name.. only allies should have it problem solved.

I don't mind the outline system. I'm more of a fan of less is better when it comes to UI though either way with or without I think it'll be fine.
@limeaid3 жыл бұрын
My main takeaway with the outline system is that 343 thinks the players are dumb. Or young children. Let us toggle it, always put enemy gamertags above the enemy when you look at them. The friendly UI is too small imo. Outlines though I think take away from the immersion

It makes it too easy to spot enemies, instead only teammates should be highlighted not enemies

I'm not a fan of being forced to be a color in the RvB system but I definitely think it would be better to do away with the enemy outlines and let the lack of outline and/or red name above their heads be the indication. That sounds perfect.

Have 343 spoken to this? Have the adjusted this system or will they give us a toggle to turn it off?

The outlines aren't too bad. I think they should have come up with a new radar or gotten rid of it entirely especially if there's going to be a ping system
@TheCyberWizard20003 жыл бұрын
This is my opinion I like they way there outlining the enemies and your team players so we can customize our own Spartan colors and like you said it's different 343 just doesn't want to copy anyone they're going their own route on how to make multiplayer and I like that
@manuelandrade17383 жыл бұрын
Why not keep both and just make them an option for people that can turn them on and off
@jamB20073 жыл бұрын
Honestly like with halo 3 why don’t they just do that? Have name tags above each player for who’s friendly and foe! I’m actually surprised 343 didnt just go with that direction. Maybe they will see this video and go “oh well what the hell why didn’t we just do this?!”😂
@chrisofblades51673 жыл бұрын
Good video Kevin! I agree with you here, I feel like if they just added the halo 2 aspect with NO team colors.. we would all be fine... its clearly obbvious to determine friend from foe

Option to turn em off. That’s all I ask. Also, I need a waypoint over my teams heads with their service tag or gt. Dunno why that wasn’t in the first flight but it’s often equally important to know who died, in addition to where they died.

but they should just do what they did with every halo game like 3 for example, do that but without the outlines problem solved. Also, give an option to turn on the outlines for the people who actually NEED it. Otherwise just add a big arrow above a friendlies head and call it a day lmao

I dont get all the hate its pretty obvious whos friendly or foe based off the color you get to choose, and if it were red vs blue how is that any less immersion breaking?

Personally, I dont like em. I like the team colors, because that's as it should be, but I understand not everyone can handle the overwhelming stress of not being able to be neon green in multiplayer. The outline system, with enemies, allies, weapons, etc, should be placed on a toggle. Toggle on, toggle off, two or three buttons, and either way give em a symbol in the overhead Gamertag to indicate friends or foes.

Is 343 ever gonna fix their scaling issues. Why do players look so tiny from far away. Why are door frames on bazaar so much bigger than the Spartans.
@DanIsJustDan3 жыл бұрын
With exception to the gigantic door, isn’t it just a POV issue? Players look far away because you have a high POV.

Let there be an options settings, toggle! So both camps can calm down and noone gets offended. Just line with the option to hide/ turn off non vanilla armors, weapon skins, vehicle skins etc for past games. Same should apply to HI. I have been a Halo vet since 2002, but I DO prefer and see the potential in the outline system. In past games the ONLY way to show off your pure custom spartan look was in Firefight, FFA, cuTom games. Otherwise forced teamcolors. I do agree outlines and service tags/ gamertags needs max customization and KEEP it so its at least option to also have your preferred team/enemy/fireteam colors be reflected as your shield color if we so choose that. Now regarding inclusion trend regarding colorblindness, lgbt and so on. Want pure left handed options, weapon offsets gave me hope. If 343 could spare resorces to mirror animations in 1st and 3rd person except numbers, letters I would be overjoyed and send em a stack of 343 fav pizza! I want to adapt being pure leftie and with using southpaw controls for that for max lefty. I guess we lefties arent considered inclusion worthy, pff..

My first reaction honestly is: have none of the people complaining ever played a shooter that wasn't Halo that didn't have team colors like most of them don't??? Well I get it's a big part of halos aesthetic It's not that big a deal. And this is coming from an old school fan who's been playing since 2002

people just wanna be able to turn outlines off. the people who want them can just leave them on, simple
@BushBumperBaker3 жыл бұрын
"It takes them out of the world and into your UI" This is literally the objective reason why it's bad. It looks like shit. All this player customizations they're bragging about is literally bullshit because you cant even see anything on an enemy player without a bright ass outline sucking all the colour and detail out of their player model. I literally can't tell what armour my opponents are wearing even when hitting them in the face.

i never have a problem with bungies system, this system pisses me off and my eyes are perfect if disabled people need them then let them have it, i want it my way where i can use my functioning eyes the way i use them everyday if they need it give them the outlines, if i dont want it then let me disable it. if theres a competitive edge oh well nothing in life is perfect
