Halo Infinite World Premiere: Did 343 FINALLY kill Halo?

I've yet to see anyone *not* excited for forge. You say you are excited for this pit map because it can showcase what the forge can really do. The only problem with that is, its not going to be launching with the forge. That's unacceptable, if they really wanted to show off the capabilities why didn't the spotlight fan creations?! We have people building the fucking Shire from LOTR, and Toy Story, and Cyberpunk stuff. And all that stuff is probably going to be there day 1, If I assume the creators will just be allowed to finally release their stuff to the public. So we have THOSE crazy creations and 343 can't even make a god damn copy of a map that was already made in a timely fashion? Also are they just blind? Can they not sense the community frustration that's already at its peak, then they come out and show this, and its not even going to be playable for... well who the hell knows when its going to come out? Its just so oblivious to the general feeling of the halo community. 343: "Oh okay, so you didn't like us pushing back the roadmap and delaying major features, or getting rid of them all together? WE GOT YOU COVERED ! Here's the PIT made with forge, that you won't be able to play because we have no clue when we're going to release it and given our track record, you can probably expect a delay! Isn't that great !?" No, fuck off with that. Serious question. How many times does 343 need to shit on you and the community before you reach your breaking point? Or is this some sort of Stockholm syndrome thing?

I agree with you to a certain extent I feel like the outrage over this map reveal as well as the lack of split-screen was far too overblown. 343 needs to face the fire for failing to deliver on promises but to me these things aren't the hill to die on or the things that are the REAL problems of Infinite. To me all I care about is the fact that it isn't a complete Halo experience. It needs Forge, Firefight, Theater Mode and more Maps. To me it's 2/5s of a complete Halo game it it only has campaign and multiplayer and the multiplayer is lacking in maps. If this isn't what the community is upset about they're losing sight of the important things. To me splitscreen and a forge map aren't reasons to spam negativity about the game and make them out to be the death nails that seal Halo's fate.

Infinite is a great game overall my personal issues is mostly the players base and how matchmaking works, and how most think they are hcs somehow. You need to be mvp for a win

@@HaloDaycare ya it's not a popular opinion. At times u have bad games at.times u have good games. When u go 45 -5(deaths) and still lose. However I tend to focus on the now and had fun. But when your entire team goes negative in a ctf match. The game was fun tho, but not for those players as much But this is the social thing that seems odd for balance reasons. I've gone against xl8r a great player but everytime he has a full squad and I have people staring at the ground or walls Lol

I said something similar and got tons of hate for it. I then asked two questions: 1.) What FPS game with an online multiplayer, released in the past two years, released in a good state or is currently in a good state? 2.) What would it take for Halo fans to finally be content with the game? COD MW2 won't even be released for another month and there are already countless videos calling the game dead. Battlefield 2042 gets lots of backlash, and every other FPS is similar. Although Halo isn't perfect, they are making steps in the right direction AND the core game is still fun - in its current state... But whenever I say that, I'm just a shill. If you enjoy the game, fine. If you don't, the logical thing to do would be to uninstall and move on, until it's in a state that you deem playable.

I think it comes down to showing effort but this "world premiere" could have been a random tweet with no fanfare. The reason to care about how popular the game is - it's usually a sign of an IP that might be discarded. If this wasnt the Halo IP, most publishers would've tossed it already. So Kudos for Microsoft for sticking to it. Another reason why there seems to be so much animosity too is because halo use to appeal to multiple types of people: Casuals, pros, coop players, forge users, machina makers, etc Everytime an update is pushed, one or more of those groups doesnt feel like they got anything, thus, they lash out. What you have to remember is, all the improvements to the game now mostly exists because people are complaining. I'm a developer myself and I can say, the moment theres no players complaining, is the moment you realize noone cares for the game.

My problem was the hyping it up as a "world premier". I dont watch e-sports, but that verbiage made it sound like something big. So I watched, saw this, and shrugged. This could have dropped under the radar at an e-sport event, posted about later, and everyone would be excited about something coming in the future. This is a showcase, not a world premier. A Halo 3 remaster/H5 on PC/Multiple H3 maps (like 5 of them) being added in TODAY would have made the phrase "world premier" alot more digestible. So 343 proves yet again that they are willing to mislead, over-hype, and under-deliver.

Halo, Cod, and Gears were the golden era of online gaming for our generation. The addition of cross platform play ultimately ruined the competitive integrity in most online games today. I think most of us just want a fair competitive atmosphere to sink our souls into, rather than the lingering doubt of something as dumb as which inputs gets more handicap, therefor exponentially increase equality gaps, resorting in entire player bases making necessary change to compete. I hate how most of gaming has just turned into a hardware gap in internet speed, server distance, monitor refresh rate/fps, input device, 3rd party software/devices, and this other nonsense. Cross platform muddied the water of competitive integrity to the point it feels non recoverable. Modern tech is just devastating the video game industry year after year.

The wait also has been ridiculous for a 'live service' game lol it's like it's skeleton crew working on the game. As others have said if pit and 2 other halo 3 map remakes dropped the same day I think the reception would've been quite positive. Also calling it a world premiere hyped us up for no reason, 343 set the expectations and they blew it once again. Bungie made excellent games, 343 made below average games, not really putting them on a pedestal the games were bloody amazing (the first 3). Halo 5 not good story idk multiplayer might have been good. The roadmap this and others is just making the hate even worse they should keep quiet until a massive content drop happens. I get you are trying to be positive but things are not looking good until the battle Royale releases and as you were saying desync being fixed then I can return and good progression those 3 things will make it really fun again. Oh yeah and region select here in Australia it keeps connecting me to USA servers.

The thing about praising Bungie. I remember back in the day we all had a saying "FIX YOUR GAME BUNGIE." There were other very popular ones too. People hated Bungie games when they came out and I remember it like it was yesterday. If you can believe it, the Halo community hated Halo 3 and Reach as well. I'll never forget reading the forums filled with hate. It's funny to see history repeat itself. The same people who hated on H3/Reach are the same people who praise those games and praise Bungie. If Bungie came back, the same people would hate Bungie all over again. It's exhausting.

@@HaloDaycare oh I didn't know that I have always loved all their games and am not one of those turncloaks who only like hating on the franchise and saying the old ones were always better when a new title comes out. I prefer Bungie ones cus they feel more like classic arena shooters, also the banging music from Marty and Joe's story vision just created a great franchise. For me my play style I prefer the first 3 multiplayers, infinite was really close but they never fixed desync and the maps are bad. Reach I can kinda see with the cod loadouts but halo 3 no way was that a bad game and I remember it being universally praised at school and family playing. I think halo 3 hate was in the minority and reach more people didn't enjoy the multiplayer from the stuff I've read online. Spose I was just fully into them as all there games I think are good and odst reach the fuel was defs running out so I think they Def's left at perfect time as the passion was still there. With 343 I feel a lack of passion, it's a product a money making lottery machine for them. That's how I see it after 10 years of dealing with them. H5 looked like they released content steadily so idk what happened with this newer one. Bungie games releasing with all content at launch just gives you perspective how slow 343 are idk if it's management or what but they need to figure their releases out even if you like 343 halo. Halo 1 2 3 we're the golden age for the series, no one I know now cares or talks bout halo and if they do it's about the past games not their current ones.

You lost me when you said the core gameplay is good. The core of this gameplay can never be good when people are being shot behind walls due to Desync. No amount of content or skins will revive this game when we still have the issue of being shot behind walls and cover. Think about it…. The guns feel great but I keep getting shot behind walls, the movement is great but even when I slide into cover I still get shot, wow these weapon animations are great but it’s takes me 4 extra shots because my Bullets didn’t register, the maps are so well designed but I keep dying when behind a wall. Everything he core gameplay has can be brought back to the desync. People aren’t coming back because there is to much hate. People aren’t coming back because the desync will never be fixed and it will never make the game fair. Unless you love a game of chance and you love to buy Madden MUT packs then you will never enjoy this game.

I completely understand your frustration with some of the bugs. Desync should be a top priority and should be fixed sooner than later. Core gameplay to me means that I enjoy the game, the sandbox, the meta, etc. I recognize there are bugs but even still. Great game.

The problem isn't that the player base doesn't know what they want. They know what they want and 343i decides to do it's own thing despite the feedback they receive. Remember player collision? They acknowledged that most players wanted it back, and yet they still rejected it in the very same post. Classic art style? They doubled down in Halo 5 and after even further push back they finally caved and dialed it back to weapons and now maps instead (Sidekick, Commando, Halo 5 rocket launcher looks like they're from CoD, and now Pit looks like it's from Fortnight). Granted the backlash towards the Halo 5 rocket launcher saw the classic one reintroduced, but the point is that they doubled down and did it again. Where is the Magnum? Nobody asked for a CoDesque Sidekick. Massive backlash on art style breaking cosmetics with MCC season 8, yet they double down in the very next game to release, and don't forget playable elites being "not competitive..." The real problem is 343i ignores feedback, because they feel like doing X when the player base says it wants Y. I don't hate 343i, but they tend to forget that they're trying to make a game that other people will want to buy instead of a game only people in the office will want to play. 343i has done a lot of good, but they need to break out of their bubble and listen the player base instead of only the "pro-team", or those within the office.

About the art style, I don't think the Infinite art style is in line with H5. Infinite's art style is unique in the sense that it blends all of what we have had in the past. Could just be me but I think it looks very appealing

The content piece is for a lot of 1st hour halo gamers not a big deal at first because we’ve been educated with fix installment. However passed a certain point you pay the « content » posture they took in the first place when you realized that limitations are being pushed in the core experience due to this posture….
