There was an energy sword being carried by the other team. Since the charge will stack when you run over it, that's how it kept going up.

You're telling me in a BTB mode they'll be at least four swords on the map!? No way. And it being in theater mode will show the time stamp on the screen and no way it was only one sword you can get maybe 5 kills at most before it runs outta energy.
