Sure the "Netflix of gaming" until you remember that the endpoint of that subscription model was every major company pulling out and making there own services resulting in costs ballooning for the average consumer as your media was scattered to multiple paid services who then also have to jack up their prices and include ads to try and make a profit out of an unsustainable business model not to mention the quality of the shows themselves suffering under it. Redbox wasn’t a subscription service and you had to physically go somewhere to get something from their VERY limited selection and then return to said location to return it or get charged extra fees. If Halo had all that buzz it had around 360 era then I could have understood it. But giving out these basic Halo games now make sense for this brand. One more thing to note, Xbox is experimenting. For example, they thought that Hifi Rush would sell well on PS but it didn't. And just like that many other of their ports will not sell well. But many will, so in long run, expect New IPs to be Exclusive and if they turn out to be good, they could come on PS.

Of course it can be awesome to pay for multiple months of it if it's your first time on the service, but once you've experienced most that it has to offer for the time being, it is probably more wise to just pay for the service whenever they add a game you really want to play and that you will honestly be able to complete in a single month or 2

It’s not necessary for them to sell to other consoles in order to do so. But they’ve now dominated the console market, so not much incentive to keep exclusivity when Xbox has given up anyway. Better to release on PC and gain the extra money than to keep exclusive. Sony are not reliant on PC sales to make a profit, it’s just a bonus

Those blockbusters costed around 100 million last gen, and now it costs more than 300 million even when they don't sell a part of the game in form of Season Pass or some DLC or some standalone spin off. Overall, this amount will only increase in future. Maybe next gen it will reach 400 millions. It will be even more difficult to handle the budget with one platform. Honestly, even if Sony may not want to share exclusives to Xbox, they should do it in case of Nintendo consoles as that is a customer base worth chasing.

Nintendos biggest appeal (at least to most people I think) is there exclusivity. If you could play titles like Pokemon, Mario or Zelda on an Xbox, PlayStation or PC (legally) it would really hurt Nintendo from a business standpoint which is sad but I understand why they don’t. It would be horrible as a business practice.

Their other is their uniqueness. Many consoles have tried and failed to succeed in Nintendo's endeavors from decades ago. Motion controls were just starting to be a thing for consoles with VR, while Nintendo had it since 2006. They may not have the power, but they have the special sauce that makes them more sought after, in addition to their affordability. With as how expensive consoles are now with barely any optimization for them, people would just go the mile to buy a future-proof PC and save money in having to buy generation after generation in addition to their upgraded versions (although nobody's buying that PS5 Pro tho lol), since the need for that console is useless since the exclusives are gonna be on PC at some point and eventually the concept of exclusives might just cease to exist. But with Nintendo, it's cheaper, more unique, and actually exclusive, meaning it's not just buying a new generation, it's an experience.

"Good for the consumer" is one thing, yeah, the company can't just take and not give, but on the other hand, they only can keep giving as long as they can afford it, and even if it wouldn't hurt them immediately it would in the long run. Apart from that... Nintendo spent an entire YEAR just to fix ONLY the physics engine for Totk to ensure the game would be what they promised it to be. Even only IMPLYING they don't care about the comsumers is a horrendous lie.

@@Dsweet93 That is all assuming it’s physical games mate. We all know what percentage of games we keep in physical form. For example, I have about 20 games on my shelves ( the ones that I truly love and play) and about and at least 20X times that digitally somewhere on all consoles. I say as long as you understand that those digital games won’t stay there forever then you have some sort of low expectations and will not be let down easily when the inevitable happens.

@Jaquavious_the_3rd I understand where you’re coming from, but I feel like the reason they won’t give up their exclusives is mainly because it’s all they have going for them. And the proof I have is that when it comes to performance PlayStation and Xbox are neck and neck, and the Nintendo switches equivalent performance of a last gen console, so it’s not about performance. Cross play has existed for as long as I can remember, so it’s not that either. Meaning, the only real thing that separating them is exclusives. If you have an Xbox, and do you want to play God of war, you have to spend $500 on the PlayStation five and then 60 bucks on the actual game, meanwhile, if you have a PlayStation and you want to play Xbox games, all you have to do is just buy the game as per usual. It would benefit all of them if all their games were just spread out as Microsoft has gained tons of money by sharing their games to other consoles. I’m just saying that maybe PlayStation and Nintendo should take notes.

To me, it is far from dumb. The Xbox has performed pretty badly compared to other consoles since the Xbox One came out though, so there isn't really anything to kill to begin with. PS4 sold a little more than double the units Xbox One sold, PS5 has solid more than double the Series X/S, and the Switch is currently the third best selling console of all time. Microsoft pivoting to focus on GamePass is 100% the right decision, at least from a business perspective. PlayStation already dominates when it comes to home console exclusives, there won't really be any noticeable difference there, and obviously Nintendo doesn't have any competition when it comes to handheld exclusives as it is so once again there'll be no difference

ERM, may I do my part too? Xbox has basically been tuned out after Xbox X was 2 months old, multiple games have been restricted from Xbox even with the new X series. I don't understand how they get all games and we get so minimal, it wouldn't be logically fair to release games to other consoles, yet they ask for a game because they can't stop whining about it. Xbox is basically hard to even find these days because of the restriction of our games but they ask for games that took Xbox sky high.
