One thing I always found weird about Halo was how, 500 years in the future, almost all ground military technology is the same. Marines have pretty mich the same body armor, they use ballistic weapons, all the vehicles are basically modern in terms of technology.

Except Halo's UNSC vehicles are more or less greater death traps lol versus todays armored vehicles. They just have a more powerful allow, but worse design when it comes to actual protection.

Not really Marines in the Halo have much better body armor technology than our 21st-Century Earth. They utilize a combination of Kevlar ceramic-titanium which gave them far better protection and they have it covered head to toe. They're weapons are also slightly advanced and powerful. From recoil dampening technology which reduces the recoil by 70%, more powerful FMJ-AP rounds capable of depleting and penetraring Covenant energy shielding and much more. For vehicles the only reason why Warthogs doesn't have any doors is because of gameplay mechanics. There's other variation of the Warthog that have doors and is well armored even better than any modern LTV. The Scorpions are much cheaper to mass produced that's why it's used more often and the UNSC have other tanks that are more powerful such as the Grizzly, Hannibal, and Cobra. And most of they're vehicles are powered by Fusion reactors which is far better than anything we have today. Overall while they're the UNSC stayed with Projectile as supposed to energy or laser based weapons, they're gears and equipment are far more advanced than anything we have today. From medical, agricultural, industrial, military, and many more.

The US plans to keep B-52 Bombers in service for over 100 years since they were first introduced, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Just because the design is old doesn't necessarily mean the tanks themselves are old. The covenant are the first real war enemies humanity has had since the civil war that preceded contact with the covenant.

I expect it's a side-effect of maintaining a military across multiple star-systems with wildly differing levels of technology and infrastructure. The best warmachines in the galaxy won't be of any good to you if you don't have the means to maintain them. The Scorpion tank doesn't represent the best that the UNSC can make, it represents the best that the UNSC can standardise.

kok ly well technically from the lore the standard assault rifle uses 7.62x51 nato or .308 which has significantlly more foot pounds of energy than the current Nato standard of 5.56x45 nato.

kok ly They make the weapons out of different material and more reactive elements. I doubt Gun powder stayed the same and it either got replaced or improved to be more lethal. Aswell as the bullets themselves with the possibility of being made of armour piercing or more complex metals such as titanium or explosive material. And the assault rifle is pretty impressive holding 30 rounds while shooting .30 caliber. Guns could also be more reliable than they are today and alot less prone to jamming and malfunction.

DLDouble G I don't think it *had* to be in Africa, it's just easier because you need no adjustments up top and the thing can be much more rigid, meaning more space and thus more can be moved up. The other option would be putting it in geosynchronous orbit nearing the poles, however no spot is safe do to the axial "wobble" the earth has sometimes.

Why shouldn't Promethians exist? Their existance is explained in Halo 4. It makes perfect sense for them to be there. If you're a Forerunner (in this case the Didact) why make your own people into mindless, inorganic monstrosities when you can subjugate an inferior race and make them do it? Not much has been DONE with them, at times. They're just slaves for Cortana and the Warden. No look at their inner memories, possibilities to rebel or mutiny, and no further look at the Composer's Abyss and all that implied either. One brief mention in a graphic novel about how the Warden was blocking them from the Domain, and that's about it.

Mystic3 Meyhem Current advancements in military tech, well tech in general is due to competition and necessity, when things like the Scorpion and Warthog were created, Humanity was engaged in very little to no fighting/wars, thus explaining the standstill in upgrading their tech. In other words, the need to develop better equipment etc wasn't needed at the time. It wasn't until the Human-Covenant War began that we needed to advance our military technologies.

#HaloClub Here is my thoughts on what I want Halo 6’s story to be. Firstly, I want to say that I believe that 343 has completely ruined one of the most love gaming franchises in gaming history. However, I don’t think it is hopeless. Halo Wars 2 is proof that 343 can write a story that takes us back to the things we used to love about Halo. In the older narrative we were always outgunned, outnumbered and we constantly tried to scramble together our inferior technology to stand a chance against the threat that was the covenant. In Halo Wars 2 the player can once again feel some kind of fear and think, ”Oh s***, this might go to h***”. Although, this was not executed perfectly considering that you always gained ground while Atriox had to back off rather than feeling like the Banished were creeping closer, I still think it is better than Halo 6’s approach to have the UNSC be better and stronger than the enemy, up until the point where tides turn and they decide to run away with their tails between their legs. In captain Cutter’s speech to Elisabeth he tells her that they will not run from their duty to defend their family and their home. This is the attitude that has to come back to Halo and this brings me to my point. In Halo 6 we first have to shake off the nonsensical story that is now being portrayed with to many characters and to much chaos. We need a simpler way to keep track of what is going on by sticking to a smaller core group of people. One the other hand, we can’t simply drop a bunch of characters like Locke and the others without telling a part of the story. That is why I want them to sacrifice themselves in one of the largest losses to the war effort that the UNSC could have at this moment. By losing the Infinity. By essentially killing off the Infinity and it’s crew we can both connect to characters that we love, such as Lasky, while at the same time redeeming others like Palmer through thier heroic sacrifice. In the process Master Chief, blue team and possibly Halsey would be saved. But now they are left stranded and without an army to fight with. At this point we have the fear. The fear of losing everything. Remember how I talked about Halo Wars 2? They will be a small hope that arises. The hope that all of mankind will look to. When everything seems lost the Spirit of Fire arrives with Cutter and Elisabeth standing at the ready. They came to assist in the fight but soon realize all hope seems lost. However, as the strong leader Cutter is he will collaborate with our hero, Master Chief, to mobilize the little force they have left. During that there will be a lot of emotion among the characters. Since Halo 4 we have had much more in-depth storytelling from the perspective of John’s feelings and I believe this is still something I like about the current direction of Halo. Therefore, I want his feelings to show. He tries to hide them like he always does but they overpower him at some points. Likewise, the meeting with the crew of the spirit of fire including seeing red team, their fellow spartan 2s, will also be emotional. Finally, in the end I have not yet decided what I want to see. Maybe they could have John finally die in service while putting all his effort into saving humanity. It would make Halo 6 even more meaningful but it is a very risky move and has to be executed very very well. If this were to happen I think to myself: ”What would be the next step for Halo?” Since, in my perfect world, Locke would be dead he could not inherit Halo’s story (which he never deserved anyway) and it then has to go to someone else. In my opinion there is only one other character in the Halo universe right now that could possibly replace Master Chief and that could gain the love of the fans in a similar way. To me it is obvious that the only one who deserves that title other than John is Jerome. During Halo Wars 2 Jerome is clearly shown to be a complete badass and compared to Locke he has a right to be closer to John’s level because he is a spartan 2. Now, I’m not saying that I want John to die, however, when speculating about it I have come to the conclusion that only Jerome is, at this point, a viable choice.

Chris sonofPear but that's all she does, is try and make people think they need her. In reality she's obsolete now and BB actually touches on that in the kilo five series. We don't need her and she had a pretty good run throughout the halo games, but she's an evil manipulative woman that's useless now.

The US, Russia, China and North Korea, to name a few, have done similarly horrible things in reality. I would not say she is eviler than any of those countries. She did what she believed was right and as she states in the intro to Halo 4, her work did, in fact, save the human race. It will always be costly to save lives but a lot of people believe that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Therefore, her actions could be considered justified. Especially seen from the view of a consequentialist who would most likely argue that the benefits of her work are valuable enough to the human species to outweigh the pain it caused.

However, I do agree that it is reasonable to consider her actions too monstrous and to believe that rationalizing them can't actually justify what she's done. It all depends on one's own philosophical perspective.
