Thanks for the ODST guides, just passed it all today. Got to say ODST is by far the easiest given you can just skip past the enemies most of the time, plus the silenced pistol is just everywhere so having a scoped headshot gun be everywhere helps. Can't wait for your HALO 4 LASO run.

I found that when I tried to exit the tank to finish the mission, I was magnetized to outside of the tunnel, so whenever I tried to exit the tank I got thrown into the barricade and died instantly. I ended up having to use the car to go back past the barricade to get out safely. Halo is something else lol.

Same thing happened to me except I got a checkpoint as I was getting out of the tank, just before I was instantly killed. Had to restart the whole mission which took almost an hour :(

Greatly appreciate the effort that went into making this whole guide. Perhaps its because this is quite old and some things may have changed, but for some reason i consistently found enemies requiring more damage than they seem to in your playthrough. Like any time you mentioned a count of shots, 3 sniper rounds, 1 shot wraiths and hunters with lasers, etc. it always took more no matter how accurate I was. Only really messed things up when the ammo was needed for later, but otherwise was just a little more tough than expected.

If you’re on 4 player coop, don’t forget about the vidmaster rocket launchers at the highway part. Don’t touch the hog and just run forward and down into the tunnel for rockets. Those launchers carried me and my crew

Ironically, if you're doing a Playlist in any of the games for Master Chief Collection, there is a chance that a bug will still send you back to the beginning of a mission you're playing, regardless whether or not you or the individual you're protecting (Keyes or Vergil) die before or after you save and quit, regardless of the Iron Skull being active. So in all honesty, I've been kinda dreading this mission for a long time, since I started playing LASO Playlists. If it's anything that the worthless Keyes taught me, you'd better be perfect.

overall resuming any mission can at least skip some checkpoints. i remember gravemind laso sent me to the beginning, and crow’s nest speedrun would send me to the previous checkpoint or two. unfortunately there’s not much you can do to stop it.

MMC doesn't preserve weapons between ODST missions. In old ODST, rookie would always keep whatever weapons he had last. In MCC, he gets starter weapons with fresh ammo every time.

soo, I don't know what happened but 2 days ago I finished Data Hive and today I decided to do Coastal Highway. After I resumed the playlist, the game showed Coastal Highway in the loading screen, but actually spawned me near middle of Data Hive, even though even on the pause menu showed coastal highway. So I had to complete Data Hive again, and when I finished, the game put me directly in Epilogue, skipping this mission. Thank god I don't have to do this, I heard it is horrible

I had the same thing happen to me on Reach, I was on Pillar of Autumn but it kicked me back to Sword Base. After a couple days of being pissed I accepted having to play it all again only to proceed to Epilogue after finishing Sword Base. Thanks 343 I guess for having bugs so bad they actually help. I do feel kind of dirty having the achievement and not actually finishing the game though....

All marine AI is like that, I'd say it is true for the covenant AI too. Give them fuelrods and they light the place up. Fuel rods are amazing for the AI during Laso or Legendary, I gave some to Dutch in ONI Alpha Base and he destroyed the wraith and killed all the enemies very quickly me just sniping in the corner.

Fun fact for 20:40 roughly. You can actually kill all those phantoms, and let them drop of the ghost outside map, before they reach the bridge. No need to wait. Just shoot early on.

Finally beat the HALO 3 ODST LASO thank yo your amazing guide, Silver. *UPDATE WITH THE VIRGIL BUG AT THE END*: I would like to give my personal discover to beat the final firefight with the tank at the end. I had the same issue with Virgil dying at the end due the Boom skull. After many minutes to find a solution,this was what it seems to work to fixed the bug: 1) Before entering the final tunnel to enter the Zoo, there is a car parking outside the tunnel. Push the car towards the enter of the tunnel till you put the car just barely inside and lined up in parallel with the entrance. 2) Use the car as a ramp to get through the tunnel and repeat the same process, as in this guide of Silver, to get the tank in the ramp with the car, but instead of using the first ramp, use the second ramp to put the car. 3) After you kill the grunts and juggle the fuel rod or the rockets to the tank position, Dare will get stuck until you get into the tank. Dare will go to Buck an after you reach Dare, give her the rocket or fuel rod. 4) Go to the upper level of the building to the other side and wait to the Phantom drops the enemies. You can easily kill the Brute with the fuel rod and then get back into the tank and continue the rest of the mission just as in the guide.

Didn't have much trouble with this level following this guide even though Mythic isn't bugged anymore. Virgil died once, but I managed to see it happen and save quit before the message for it happening even popped up. If you're doing it too late and getting kicked back the beginning of the mission try having the elephant on your screen at all times.

Just completed Data hive and just watched this tutorial. I watched you play it on your stream last week, but it was too much fun with lady silver and the other viewers in the chat, so I didn't see all the strats you did here. I thought this level would be more stressful, but it seems like that the elephant is pretty strong here. Pretty sure when I try this, it will only have 1 hp or something like that :p And like you said at the end of this video, ODST is by far the easiest LASO and it never felt unfair as well. thanks a lot for this guide, I have few notes regarding changes in the game: - 11:20 was maybe the hardest for me, since i guess ghosts take 2 times more hits to die - at 21:38, each grunt needs 2 hits to die, that's why i had to hit them in a way that'll push them away from me, brutes take 4 or more iirc - at 24:25 you didn't explain why the scorpion need to be there, i didn't push it forward enough, as a result it almost got impossible for me to hop on in, Panic moment! i dont kno about how it was in your version, but now, you can't get on foot to the other side of the barricade, unless i ride in the tank, and even worse, the moment i leave the tank, a strong force pushes me outside, resulting in hitting the barricade, and losing hp! i did it twice, and almost died. so at 30:09, i should use the tank to get to top of barricade, then leave

Instead of shooting the banshee with the fuel rod around 14:00, if you can hit him with a plasma pistol overcharge he will fall below the out of bounds region and instantly detonate which will save you time and ammo, plus the headache of having the deal with more banshees shooting at the oliphant.

I keep failing on the section right before the Scorpion. Buck just gets out of the warthog and wanders off. Like he just walks away, and so all the Banshees/Ghosts focus on Veronica. He does it every time unless i keep driving but if i keep driving him around I die! Does anyone know why Buck would get out so I can stop it from happening?

I know this is super late but I had the same issue, the way I was able to solve it was by parking the warthog perpendicular so the passenger seat is facing the big door. Then hide behind the passenger seat, if buck gets out immediately get inside the passenger seat until he gets back in. You won't take that much damage but it does take a few attempts, I noticed after a certain point he does tend to stay inside the warthog.

My buddy and I are doing this on the LASO playlist and is it just us but: all vehicle damage is completely awful against enemies. It takes 4x longer to kill a grunt with the chain gun or even with the gauss hog.

Not really a warning to anyone as I'm not sure if anything can be done to prevent it, but it seems like some checkpoints are not reloadable. Multiple times I saved and quit (didn't die, just didn't like how things were going and wanted to checkpoint) only to resume and be put back at the beginning of the level. I have only had this issue on this level specifically. I also encountered a weird bug at the final part after killing all enemies, when exiting the Scorpion I just keeled over dead. I had full shield and the Scorpion wasn't moving, wasn't propped up or at a weird angle and wasn't near any other objects. And of course, the checkpoint here wasn't save/quit-able for me. My follow up attempt did not have this happen.

@@jestemjen I just completed coastal highway co-op LASO. Took us 1 hour and 38 minutes but man this mission was a bitch! The enemies just straight up would not die from the tank, gauss hog, or buck’s fuel rod. We kinda shot ourselves in the foot and got a bad checkpoint even though Silver told us not to. The tank strat at the end was clutch. The fuel rod guy at the very last highway kept killing me over and over, he took so many tank shots but I also couldn’t see him when he saw me. I think this is a product of playing at 120 FOV.

After trying for 2 days straight, I gave up on this mission. Can’t move past the section with lots of Banshees and Ghosts. Why did they make it so hard? They keep killing the Engineer like really fast. It’s LASO, I mean what else am I supposed to do? I followed all your guides and I’m still stuck on that section of the mission. Even though I fumbled the bag taking out those Phantom Ghosts on all attempts, and the first Banshee section being mostly bad RNG against me, Coastal Highway wasn't all that bad, on the easier side of LASO missions IMO. ODST was a complete breeze compared to CE, 4, and Reach, and just a bit easier than 3. Wish I hadn't saved 2 for last, it's going to suck all the way through.

^ In the next few days, but honestly it's really easy if you've got a plasma pistol and a silenced pistol. Avoiding enemies is usually cake, and the map is your best friend. I'd actually recommend tackling it on your own, the streets were the most fun part of this LASO for me

I just finished this mission after trying so long because my save and quit method didn't work. After once or twice I get restarted to the beginning of the mission. If you have the same issue the way I fixed it is I only left ODST installed. So I am on steam and I checked only ODST and unchecked everything else. I died around 30 or more times and it never restarted me to the beginning. Hope this helps someone!

ok dam halo3 odst definitely has the easiest laso by far... so far the only laso that i got 2 mythics and 2-3 very close mythics.. if i just knew where things were I would stand a good chance.. I think halo 2 on heroic no skulls probably has the same difficulty as odst on laso lol

I really enjoyed this mission, you can take out all the phantoms and use the wraiths without a glitch. Give Buck a fuel rod gun and have a coop buddy gun, it's fun

Just got the achievement today 21st sept 2024. Most of silvers strats work, but enemies take way more hits now, you have to really play it by ear at some parts. Thank you silver 🙏🫶
