Halo MCC Mods Are Amazing!

The new update for Halo The Master Chief Collection has brought some awesome new additions! But this has gotta be my favourite. Pre-release Halo content that many believed to be long gone, has been uncovered by the Digsite team in their custom mission called 'Crash Site'. The MCC is the gift that keeps on giving.

Making MCC steam workshop compatible is the best thing 343i has done in their history

Its still not perfect tho. Many bigger mods require you to still download some files seperately, so it can still be annoying to play some mods. If 343 finds a way to fix that, it would be amazing.

@@aytob.5445 They actually fixed fmod sound files and they now are a part of the workshop, they also added backgrounds as official workshop support too but.... this has broken a ton of mods as expected so it will be a while before all of them get updated, but i think battlefront and a few of the bigger mods work

It's still playable. It's most likely on a private Xbox somewhere in an Xbox Game Studios office building somewhere. They livestreamed it too like 2-ish years ago and showed off quite a bit of it, like more than what was shown in the old trailers and such

Two cut things I'd love would be the cut forerunner h2 mission after regret and the cut h3 forerunner city mission thingy. Both just seem so cool but idk if they'd ever be restored to this extent

I was thoroughly disappointed halo 3 did not have any sentinel enforcers or the flood driving vehicles (they couldve just add them to the warthog run, maybe floodgate, if it had a larger area?)

This is definitely exciting news, to have this effort recognised and promoted by 343. This alongside 8 player firefight. Last time I tried to play firefight with people, we had too many, and it's never fun to just turn people away My only criticism in this is that this is only available to steam users. People who own the MCC on console or bought the game through the Xbox app are, excuse my language, shit out of luck

You know what's funny? 87% aren't accessible currently but mcc litterly emulated a lost game 1999, that alone shows you, mcc is the best example in game preservation. 343 must get credit for it ngl.

Basically I would like to see every cut content be playable at some form. Whether it be the popular Halo 2 city demo or the more obscure stuff like the Halo 4 prototype that was running in the Halo 3 engine or even a reimplentation of the cut multi-player game mode in Halo 3 that was supposed to be like Halo 5 warzone. I'm a huge fan of preservation efforts and seeing these old prototypes not only have videos but also be playable and actually fun is amazing to me.

as far as cut levels/content goes, i'd love to see an interpretation of the cut covenant ship level that was meant to bridge the gap between cairo station and outskirts, primarily to see the artistic differences in the textures and geometry between CE and 2, since the closest thing we have to seeing a covenant ship's interior in 3 is the floodified cruiser, and (in a sense) high charity

Halo, from crash site. A Full campaign before halo combat evolved story line Old school style with naked Elites, Old school guns genre's Very open,massive objective points on halo CE engine. "total war" like halo wars scenarios/ skirmishes on an open planet, something like a forever going turf war campaign,maybe even online with different factions with home planets etc. those ancient religious looking elites are legit AF!

7:35 I’ve been begging for mod support on console for months now, maybe longer. The fact the very people working on MCC and Digsite respectively want to make this pipe dream a reality means I can finally stick it to those brain-lit’s who repeatedly say “JUsT bUY a Pc bRo”, as if I have the money to buy a gaming PC, graphics card, and fuck-all-else at any point I want. Thanks to you Laper Larden, and others such as Mint Blitz, the odds of MCC mod support on console becoming a reality should be steadily increasing.

Great analysis of the Digsite content! Appreciate the added context behind the project. The map has the great Y2K mystery vibe, and the general flow of the level has some similarities to Halo: Infinite's campaign which is very interesting. The new weapons are awesome, and I hope future Halo games have them in some form. Future cut content I would like to see added to Halo: The Master Chief Collection would be the Infector, Stealth, and Transporter Flood forms and multiplayer maps from Halo: Combat Evolved to Halo 4. However, I am loving everything that is being done with mods. P.S. #bringhalomodstoxbox

After pondering for myself the possibilities of your question; "What cut content would you like to see restored?" I arrived at this conclusion... The Halo MCC has already restored pretty much everything I could ever ask for. However... There's likely still something that I fear will never be capable of seeing the light of day. OG fans of the series would remember how ODST was advertised BEFORE it became ODST. If you haven't guessed from that clue alone... It's "Halo Recon!" I heard through the grapevine that at the time, Bungie was opting to essentially make "Destiny" but with the Halo lore. New Mombasa was supposed to be exponentially larger, and allow players to traverse a persistent open world more akin to what we're used to seeing from GTA. You can sorta get a similar vibe from playing through the Halo ODST campaign of today, but something tells me the grand vision of Halo Recon was much larger in scope. In my teenage fantasies, I've always clamored for a Halo game with 8 or more players operating on a team, assaulting big points of contention. To me Halo has always seemed like a string of small battles from destination A to B. I always felt like I was just arriving as most of the skirmish had ended. I long to feel like I'm actually neck deep in an active war! Where a city has been invaded, and there are hundreds of Spartans and Oni forces at my side charging hundreds more Covenant. I picture Halo Recon as this science fiction 9/11, where emergency support services plus the combined efforts of the military are fighting to protect the civilians in this massive city. We never needed a big intricate story. All we needed were simple set pieces, and complex combat only offered by the unique sandbox of the Halo franchise. Even now, as my interest for gaming in the modern era peaks, and there's nothing more for me to be excited about, I still imagine a game that would allow me to FORGE a campain or firefight! I firmly believe that if 343 or Bungie were to provide us with a tool like that, Halo could possibly see "INFINITE" replayability! The community being able to generate content for itself is always the right move to utilize when developing a game. That being said, I hope this post reaches a larger audience, and someday (maybe in my lifetime,) we will see a miracle game like that.

Mods work yet Stat-Based Matchmaking is ruining classic core multiplayer. Halo 2's coding for Button Timing Input Delays is incredibly slower than the original. Halo 2's Melee registration is broken across the board. Halo 2's Melee Lunge is completely broken. Halo 3's BR was changed to 12 frames, therefore changing the entire core meta of Halo 3 and granting players less difficulty to kill someone at every range, melting people at snipers ranges with the BR, etc. Nobody should care about what they're doing for mods. Matter of fact, nobody should care about the game until they fix the core issues and remove SBMM. End of story.
