More companies need to understand how important Modding is. Valve did it better than most and hopefully 343 gets there. I want to see Infinite get these features. I want to people to take the tether off the campaign. I want forge to have no budget. Modding has always been a big deal and companies should lean on it more.

Regarding Mombasa Slayer and why Bungie didn’t ever make that; using the entire Mombasa Streets map as a multiplayer map would almost certainly be unstable/too big. It *sounds* like a good idea, but it wouldn’t have been good.

honestly, the only way to have it work right would be to take advantage of culling and rendering by a LOT. Also, they would need to use invisible walls so that fewer polygons exist and lower quality textures can be used more frequently. It really was possible to have it be a MP map, it just would take too much work to accomplish for Bungie back in the day.

they really should go the down the same road as bethesda (just with hopefully better success) and give us console mods alongside something akin to the creation club where both 343 and the modders apart of their program can earn some cash on the mods that are hard coded into MCC. (i know the CC had it's controversy however the stuff on CC for both skyrim and F4 is actually good now) therefore you get an equal amount of both free and paid mods for console.

I love modders. I've dabbled in modding Battlefront 2 (2017), making a hero replacer that replaces Rey with the Arbiter. I love seeing what more talented people have done in actual Halo games, because it just makes the games last so much longer (Hence why Skyrim has been re-released for the past ten years) What if Master Chief Collection ends up becoming Halo's Skyrim in terms of a modding community.

The problem with console is the inherit limitations of the console its self (both in hardware and how it actually runs/operates). It's just time consuming to work around, its not hard per say, more tedious. It's far easier and less tedious, and time consuming to get mods to work on PC, and even then it can take quite a long time. Plus there's absolutely no guarantee that even if you can get the mods to work that they'll run well on console, especially those with large maps, lots of large texture files, things of that nature.

These are cool but it's a shame that like 90% of MCC mods are in Halo 3. I really wanna see more stuff for Halo 2 in particular, ODST and Reach (tho reach has the most after 3) too. Also, I think the CE in H3 mod is maybe a bit TOO faithful? Obviously CEA went too far, but like the MP maps at least seem to use the same exact geometry for weapons and maybe the maps themselves, i'd like to see actual new models, and such, at least personally just having CE maps/assets with 3's lighting isn't that compelling, especially if the physics and aiming is like 3's, which frankly I think is less responsive then CE and 2 before it or Reach/4/Infinite after it (which is part of why I want more non H3 mods, haha)

The great thing about modding communities especially in the FPS scene is they never seem to die, when it comes to big games. There are still mods coming out to this day for Quake, the original one; from 1996! And the recent re-release version also has a vibrant modding community as well

I think the big one that will do it for me will be Steam Workshop support. It’ll make it easier for me to get friends to play mods with me, as it’s hard to be like “Hey, do you guys want to manually replace map files so we can play this BTB mod?” With the addition of Steam Workshop, I can just have friends join and it will download the maps and modes for them like Gmod or Black Ops III Zombies.

Absolutely. I want there to be more fan made missions for Halo CE. There was one made called, "Escape" which is just stellar. You play as a marine reaching the evac during two betrayals. it's so well done is essentially functions as DLC. Rubys rebalance has also turned Halo CE into a masterpiece, perfecting each level by adding cut content and revamping combat encounters. Honestly brought me such immense joy, this game has a second life. This is not mentioning the work done for other installments.

Mods I want to see in Halo 3 at somepoint: - Halocraft (Halo/Minecraft mashup): This mod would be pretty ambitious and would have every single object in Minecraft (including there functions) in the halo 3 campaign. You can build structures, put enchantments on your weapons, make redstone machines, and watch out for the mobs that can spawn along side the covenant enemies. (This mod may sound completely ridiculous but it is pretty cool idea I had.) - Halo 3 Warzone PvPvE: halo 5 warzone in halo 3 but without the req packs. Two teams of 12 fight for victory while waves of covenant drop in to disrupt it. Each team would have the ability to call in Marines, Ordnance, and Vehicles (a certain number of times during the match). This mode would be set on maps nearly twice the size of forge world. Other gamemodes in this mode include: Invasion 2.0, Base Grab, and Escort. Base Grab: FOBs are placed around the map and your teams goal is to control all the bases on the map. Escort: each team has a mobile base (either a Mammoth or Scarab), the goal is to escort your mobile base to the rally point and prevent the other team from destroying it. When any match goes into overtime, a flood Invasion decends onto the map as flood forms of all kinds attack the both teams. - new map called "The Depot," map is set in a railyard in New Mombasa. Trains are constantly stopping and moving in and out of the yard, constantly changing the sight lines on the map. Also be careful or you might get hit. - (Cursed mod idea) The quintessential ODSTs: replaces all of the members of alpha 9 with characters from the quintessential quintuplets ( that being,, Fuutarou, Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, Itsuki). This mod just states itself as a goofy character model swap.

Halo: Combat Evolved: Custom Edition was the Golden Age of Halo in my opinion. Seeing something similar make its arrival would be a god send for the series.

My concept for an mcc mod. Unggoy Space Program. A Halo version of the game Kerbal Space Program. I think replacing Kerbals with grunts would be equally as silly. And kind of make every spaceship part be somewhat alien-ized. And use their own solar system from lore, and just have a fun idea of what their civilization was like before being assimilated into the covenant.

As of right now, you can't use mods together if they change the same things (so you can't have something like Cursed Halo at the same time as Combat Revolved), If you have different mods installed at the same time they'd have to be editing different maps

i think the halo 2 anniversary multiplayer engine, a tuned version of halo 4, is the best option: full support of equipment and sprinting, but also dua wielding. i think a full halo infinite multiplayer remake, but with dual wielding and better stability, should be possible in it, if clamber and slide can be scripted in.

They're very different things. Infinite is using all real time lighting, where as 3 takes time to bake all the lighting to a texture as its static.

I wish modding was more available on the xbox 1 version of MCC. My friend and I have been forging maps together on reach since 2015 and tbh we're not very satisfied with a lot of the MCC Reach forge changes. Yeah they raised the build budget and the amount of things you can build, but there's still an upper total build item limit that effects everything and can't be passed. This "ceiling" is also much lower than the increase to the budget and item caps because we often hit this ceiling by the 10k-20k budget range which is only about a rough 50% increase in items on forge from what OG Reach had. If I could at least remove that limit it'd help a lot with building forge maps.

I wish game companies learned from bethesdas engine and let people use it for mods. Open the engine up for people and let them play with it. Skyrim is still alive till this day with an active community because of its mod community. The whole games been rebuilt. New combat engines, lighting, expansions and campaigns, characters, weapons, armor, everything. Everything has been done and the replayability is insane. 10 years later and it’s still a thriving community. Let the communities take care of their game. If u can’t listen as a developer, at least make it easy for ur community to fix it for you with mods. So much untapped potential

halo doesnt work like a bethesda game all assets are stored in the map files and those can get large where as a bethesda game has archives that can replace existing assets or add new assets without needing duplicates

@@jh302 Once everybody starts modding, then the game being modded just feels like every other fucking modded game. Change the game balancing, add whatever fanfiction headass weapons you want, make the characters look like other characters. "Hurr durr, look I put Harry Potter into Halo and changed the warthog to look like the DeLorean from Back to the Future." How many Halo mods have been released now that utterly destroy the core design of the game. Altering how much damage each weapon does, rate of fire, range, changing HP of enemies, spawning, movement speed of the player character. Whatever semblance of a game was there has been reduced to a memory.

That Halo Wars mod needs to be a new mode in MCC or Infinite if the game engine can handle it. 32 vs 32. Call it "All Out War." Use control point mechanics and interactive buildings. Destroy all enemy structures to win. Capture points and new buildings will automatically built up and defensive NPC spwan over time. You can call in vehicles and swap out weapons and abilities at the proper building. In Infinite's case, let players use the campaign upgraded abilities/tools.
