Halo is BACK with a fresh coat of paint as the Halo developers have recently announced not only the switch to the Unreal Engine for all future Halo titles, but 343 Industries is no more and has rebranded to Halo Studios! Here's my take on it, If you're so burnt out on Halo and you have no faith in it anymore then the best thing you can do for yourself is just move on, because if you're already in the Mindset that the new studio will just make the same mistakes and you will just be critical of everything then at that point, there is no way to "save halo" in your eyes. Because what people must remember is that Halo Studios isn't 343, the people that made 343 are gone and in some cases have been gone for a while, and the people kind of piloting it's corpse up until the rebranding was left the sinking ship they now have to try to stop from sinking. So I believe, time will be the ultimate factor, now that this new studio has finally shed the corpse of 343 and are going out on their own, I fell we should atleast give them a chance to prove themselves rather than being hyper critical of them just yet. No don't let your guard down but don't also go in with the mindset that this is just 343 with a fancy new name and nothing will change, because if you go in with that mindset, then nothing Halo Studios could do would change your mind, good or bad

It has really come full circle for Pierre and what a place to be in for him. From my experience learning UE5, the engine is EXTREMELY user friendly. The devs are really going to have a lot of fun working with it in the realm of Halo. It truly looks like they already are having a blast.

As a a developer I'm just happy that people working in Halo are finally getting more modern tools. I'm no game dev by any means, but I've done some small game-ish development, and the difference between when I had to use custom game engine stuff and when I could use a proper game engine was night and day! Nah its different at its very core, UE is a commonly known engine in the industry, so getting work done on it will be 500 times faster than anything they tried for infinite on the slipspace engine. It's a very important change for them to make.

The way their vidoc was presented, they're developing Halo games philosophically. They seem committed to inquiring the "soul" of Halo when addressing content evaluation. I completely love everything they said, assuming it means what I think it does-and I really want to believe that's the case. Going to unreal, making biomes and small pieces of maps, damn... I would love if they made an entire halo you could run around, if Star Citizen can make it, so should they be able to... But gameplay, a reason to play, and fun and challenging enemies to fight is the key. If they could find a way to make just running around open world, kind of like in halo infinite, but bigger, and find a way to actually make it fun. In infinite, its fun for 30 min, then it gets old, and you start seeing the problem with the way they use the AI...

They've been working with UE5 and making content in it for 2 years already. The rumor out there is still that a new Xbox is coming in 2026, so, since you don't have to try and keep your own engine going and can just make content and add it into UE5, I figure we could get the Halo CE remaster by then. As for a totally new game, who knows? It sounds like they want to do more spinoffs to, and IMO, with all the novels out there, it's time to pull from those and fill in the gaps between the main games.

I have played many unreal engine games, Fortnight, Dead By Daylight, ARK, Bodycam, Pal world, Satisfactory, Chained together, Killing Floor, and I am sure more. I can say 1 thing about all of them, They feel similar, maybe bodycam is unique. The rest however feel the same. When you jump it is the same jump and walking and running is the same. I don't know how else to describe it, but this feeling is nothing like Halo. In fact I think there is no engine worse for the feel of the game than Unreal. Not saying it will suck or they can't make it work. But from prior games, I don't see hope.

Halo never changed the themes in their game to cater to the teen rating, they changed the rating to cater to the themes in the games. It was never a Mature game.

Will be curious if the new energy for HALO Studios will expand where input into game will come from. I'm not a game developer by any means. Do they consult the pros for arena game types and mechanics? The sweaty people for gameplay modes? What do the Dads want? And of course our campaign story! I'd personally would love to travel to all the rings! Looking forward to the future of HALO!
