At last, the French destroyer. But for real though, Tsar Bomba’s original specs had it already at 100 megatons so we could probably even double that to get how much each warhead is. (Also nice Metro reference)

10:25 Since isotopes (tritium and deuterium) have the same chemical properties as their stable isotope (hydrogen) lithium tritide does actually exist and does theoretically work as a fusion booster although it isnt used as it doesnt really do much more than lithium deuteride and also decays after around 9 years

I think it should be mentioned that the nine nuclear bombs were actually the first stage of a two stage weapon. The first stage is meant to compress a sphere of fissionable material into a substance that is called neutronium which is normally only found in neutron stars. Without the gravitic forces to keep it together, the neutronium would undergo decay and release all of it energy. How much energy? I don't have the numbers on the top of my head, but there are plenty of videos and articles about the subject. Needless to say, nothing is surviving a such an explosion. However, I doubt the nine nuclear bombs is enough to crush a sphere of fissionable material into a miniature neutron star.

The lore said the NOVA bomb had a yield of 47 gigatons, with the nine starter bombs being Tsar bombas. However, I, and a number of others, think the NOVA is more powerful than 47 gigatons.

The yield stated by the community always been around 1.2 petatons, and that's the low estimation 47 gigatons is nowhere near enough to vaporize a planet like the nova bomb does

Not to be left behind by their American colleagues, the Soviet scientists also had a doomsday weapon project (conveniently named "Judgement Day") - a massive multistage fusion device encased in thousands of tons of Cobalt, placed on a huge ship that would navigate autonomously around the Soviet costs, measuring radiation, seismic activity, and various other parameters. Once the onboard computer concluded that the Soviet Union was attacked and annihilated by a nuclear strike, it would make an autonomous decision to detonate the bomb. Under the neutronic radiation of the fusion detonation, the Cobalt surrounding the bomb would transmute into Cobalt 60, a highly radioactive and long-lasting isotope, and subsequently disperse into the stratosphere over the jet-stream, slowly blanketing the whole world in radiation, intense enough to be lethal for decades (estimates are controversial, but allegedly it would take 120 years for the radiation on the surface do die down to non-lethal levels). Nikita Khrushchev didn't like the idea (especially the 'autonomous decision' part), so the project never got the approval. However, some parts of the idea survived and were implemented as a two-stage Dead-Hand/Perimeter system, currently deployed and recently modernized and upgraded by the Russian Federation. Also, there were some allegations (false, I believe), that the Status 6 - Poseidon nuclear submarine drone was designed to carry a 200 Mt Cobalt-enhanced (a.k.a. "salted") fusion warhead meant to be anchored to the ocean floor close to the United States East and West coasts (there are allegations that the bombs are already there - again, I highly doubt it's true), which would detonate in case of a nuclear attack on the Russian Federation, and create a massive radioactive tsunami that would cover hundreds of kilometers of the US coastline in lethal levels of radiation - a doomsday weapon project, but on a smaller scale than the original idea.

Planet bombs are dumb for the same reason the Death Star is dumb.
@warhammer88676 ай бұрын
Your kinda wrong, it's an WMD that's have strategic and physiological purposes, like it acts as an deterrent against the remaining Covenant forces that they could blown a planet in minutes then glassing an planet for weeks. You can blow up their homeworlds we just a stealth ships with IBCM launcher that fired multiple decoys in the planet defences. You can blow up an capital planet that have an populations density hundredths of billions like in Corusants or Reach. The DeathStar is very dumb because you placed your entire resource into one basket, while the Nova Bomb could be in any ships or stealth craft and produce more in a miniscule amounts then the Deathstar construction.
@warhammer88673 ай бұрын
The DeathStar is an waste of resources in a strategic and tactical reason. The amount of manpower and resources are straining and absurd that limited in destroying planets as it can't be anywhere in the galaxy. While the Nova Bomb is mobile and cheaper for deterrence against future adversaries that wanted to invade their territory. It like our nuclear weapons are useless, because we can use bombers and missile against the enemy. It's an deterrence like Soviet Union and US as they don't want to go on war that would make nuclear armagadon.
