In episode 1 Kwan lures her friends out into the wilderness, digs up some space mushrooms, doesn't eat any herself, watches as her friends eat them, then goes and attracts the attention of nearby covenant who subsequently slaughter her heavily drugged friends and then the rest of her family and clan, leaving her the sole survivor. "You're a good leader Kwan" yes good at leading people to their brutal deaths.

Otto Bathurst is pulling a Dave Filoni and Kwan, I think, will be Halo's Ahsoka Tano. When Ahsoka was introduced, she was difficult know it all and the character went through an arc that makes her one of the most beloved characters in the SWU. I think that is Kwan.

Spartans not knowing they were kidnapped and the whole MC personality? 100% wrong. He would never aggressively go against Halsey, as he respects her very much and he knows she kidnapped him and the others. He has a purpose when he gets kidnapped(or so he feels) and is quite resolved into being the best and making his team the bests. Covenants having a human kidnapped and worshipped? Also nothing like the real lore. The artifact doesn't work like anything in the Halo universe's real lore as well. We've seen artifacts work differently, but not like this at all. Turn your 90% into 10% and then you're speaking facts, but the rest is literally all different and I'm not saying everything about it is bad, but there is no way the Silver Timeline has anything to do with the Games and its extended universe. I mean was Miranda also a Doctor in the Games' world? Like all the stuff I just told you is just what is at the tip of the Iceberg, feel free to "try" and back up your claim with that you think that 90% of the show is straight from the lore and canon, but I guarantee you that this is just not the case. Everything is different, for better AND for worse. PS: I enjoy most of the show, have read everything about the books and of course played every games. I'm not hating on the show, but it isn't "90%" similar to the games, not by a long shot.

However I finally saw some true potential for her story this episode. Soren got to shine, and so did Kwan. It's an adaptation not a direct translation from the games, but the people want from what I see, a direct translation, and what I see is that this is not and I would not seek something that it isn't.

@@jfsps15 The show does not need to be a one to one translation of the source material, you can take some liberties to adapt the source material to TV, the issue is that most of the background lore for Halo is basically ignored, and what they replaced it with is very uninteresting, such as how they removed the Reclaimers and replaced them with "Blessed Ones" Also, none of the characters are recognizable. Master Chief acts WAY out of character compared to how he is portrayed in the books and games. Same can be said for Cortana and both Keyes. The show disregards core pillars of the Halo lore just for the sake for useless drama that is not needed in a Halo show. There has been barely any action too, which is a huge knock on the show as you can barely tell the humans and Covenant are in the midst of a large scale war. You can make some minor changes, but the characters have to remain consistent to how they act in the source material to keep it grounded in the universe.

IGN have a track record of hiring hotties for their daily news videos. This dates back from like Jessica Chobot, Naomi Kyle, Sydnee Goodman etc, an ongoing theme with the site. Screening for the host of the show. Is the only decision the owners of IGN are actively participating in. Way more so than editing their own reviews or content.

Kwan is pretty cool I guess. It's interesting to see what can happen to the right person in the wrong place, especially a normal human in the Halo universe.

The halo reddit is ragging on this episode so hard and it's cringe. This was a decent episode that developed a character within the context of the Halo universe. Was she in the games? No. But the Halo universe is bigger and deeper than just Master Chief shooting aliens. I think it's great that the show is exploring aspects of Halo that's not possible in the FPS games. Best way I can describe it is this show is what a Halo RPG would like, if they decided to make an RPG game instead of a first person shooter. They needed to flesh out the world beyond what would be shown in pure combat FPS.

@Robert Labuda Did you even watch the show? Her purpose is to be one of the overseers of the Forerunner Shield Worlds to defend against the Flood. She will likely be instrumental in working with the monitors (like 343 guilty spark) to assist with activation of the forerunner defense installations.
