Master Chief is King Arthur, even down to the ending of Halo 3, where he goes away to be called up in Britains/UNSC's time of need. They even reference this in Destiny, you can find the Chief's cryopod and the message is essentially, "Wake me when you need me." Doom Slayer is not an homage to an existing fictional character, or shares traits with too many possible idols to pick one.

It's good to see both the Doom and Halo fanbases appreciate each others' work and crossover shenanigans instead of going at it and arguing like small children. But then this is a time when your average Halo fan is nearing or beyond their thirties and most Doom fans are pushing their forties. As a fan of both franchises, it's wonderful to see love for both warriors in green armor.

I just turned sixteen a couple days ago and I appreciate both DOOM and Halo. I grew up with Halo as my console game, thanks to my uncle, and adapted DOOM shortly after my fifteenth birthday when Eternal came out. I begged my uncle for Eternal for the longest time, and he let my mother borrow DOOM 2016. I managed to convince my mom to let me play 2016, and damn did I grind the hell out of it until I beat it. (Ngl, Spider Mastermind kinda sucks.) I got Eternal for my birthday and am already enjoying it a whole lot more than 2016, and I haven't beaten it yet. I also revisited DOOM I and DOOM II on my chromebook for fun, and in-game in Eternal as well. Still amazing. All the while Halo Guardians and Infinite are out and about still fairly fresh, and those are what I'm dying for next.

Indeed indeed. I just recently got into doom. I played 2016 and immediately fell in love. I’ve been a halo fan for 10 years and it is and always will be my favorite game series of all time. But holy crap I love both of these badasses. It is awesome seeing the fan bases loving both of these guys.

@@Seraphim_1172 I will admit that I grew up on Doom and thought of Halo as boring and overrated when I was younger when it was new (since I was far too used to fast-paced shooters and thought Halo was too slow for my tastes). But almost 20 years later, I no longer have the reflexes to play fierce reflex-based arena shooters as effectively, and after picking up the MC Collection I only realized how much I missed out. Yep, I'm an old man late to the party that welcomes the slightly slower paced gameplay of Halo haha. The vast array of lore one can find within the Haloverse was also what got me into the series when I was older (for one thing the novels really show off Chief and the Spartans' full potential, the games gimped him for sure but likely for gameplay purposes). Sure Doom will always have a special place in my heart but Halo certainly deserves a lot more credit in my opinion. It's also funny how Doom and Halo fans would fight each other all the time years ago, but that has (mostly) died down for the most part. But at the end of the day, why fight each other when we can fight together?

I would love a Doom style Halo game. I can imagine some alternate universe where Humanity succumbs to the covenant and the flood, and you play as Masterchief stranded on some human world, charging through complexes in unsurpassed rage, avenging his species by ripping and tearing covenant apart. When you put it like that, I really feel like Infinite failed in the "scale" and "strategy" part. I wish they had Marines in the campaign that matter. Halo 1-2-3 put a lot of emphasis on the Marines.

While Halo doesn't really have a lot of one-man army moments like doom, it does force you to think and be fast on your feet. Many see it as a cover/campy shooter even though the trick to staying alive (especially on Legendary difficulty) is to be smart with your weapon selections and keep moving.

oh my god, the scenarios I just played in my head with Master Chief and Doom Slayer's worlds colliding, the scenarios thought out below, and just, holy shit. As an FPS player, and a player of both Doom Eternal (starting all the way from Doom 3D on floppy disk) and Halo Infinite (Halo OG), this is the cross over we didn't know we wanted, and yet, now we need. @@meatykyun5981 To be fair the Chief would definitely be more suitable for a leadership role because people (and later on, Thel 'Vadam's loyalists) view him with respect, awe, and relief - unless you're Del Rio from Halo 4, but even then Chief calmly told him off with a stern "No sir" in response to his order to surrender Cortana. Now the Slayer... *everyone* dreads him even if he means no ill intent to them. The only living beings that don't fear him (but most certainly respect him, considering how they answered to his call to arms during Ancient Gods Part 2) are the Night Sentinels.

A solid chunk of the Slayer's success was that he couldn't be corrupted by hell's influence, which is why he was able to keep being the Doomslayer instead of eventually becoming a demon himself, be it directly or via the influence of a 3rd party (like the Makyrs), like the Marauder demons.

Fun fact: someone did a video on whether or not the Flood can actually infect the demons in Doom. The answer: Only the least powerful ones(like Possessed). The Stronger they are, the hotter, and they get too hot for the Flood to infect. Not to mention they have skin as hard as stone.
