Let's take a look at a Ham Radio Antenna I built - a 6 band Linked Dipole that I plan to use on field day or for POTA My Amazon Store: www.amazon.com/shop/sevenfort... #ham radio #antenna

Thank you simple and EASY connector section, plus great with approximate lengths lengths Kudos

Another great video. You may have noticed the graphic showing lengths noted 6M instead of 80M on the bottom part. The right side was correct. I am about to hoist my first HF antenna up which is a linked dipole for 20/40. I plan on making a fan dipole next and then going with a vertical. Looking forward to getting on HF … finally. Haha. All the best, 73 de KI5HXM

I made one of these . It had to be light weight the centre support is a 10m fishing pole. I used crimp on connectors and the plastics parts of 12 g shotgun shells cut it to rings. I was trying to make it as near invisible as possible so I could use it on camp sites. It works well but my thinking of changing the wire to a lighter gauge and gray to blend in with the colour of the sky, l wrote the band on the insulators to make sure I disconnected the right connectors. Nice video thanks gm7jzm

Wow, that's quite an antenna! I bet you could automate the band switching with some relays and a few microcontrollers, that could be a fun edition! Only trouble for me is I don't know if I have enough space, granted I have a lot of yard but that is one huge antenna lol. 73 de W8IJC!

Some genius engineering there on the connectors between the wires. I missed the purpose of the center circle of copper, but I'll watch again and figure it out. Thanks!

Second viewing explained it all. Good thinking with that ring, it gives you even more future flexibility.

Nice video. Yeah I'm a 'cheapskate' as well. Picked up several of those poles a while back for $2/ea. I'm also guilty of hanging around the plumbing section of hardware stores. Always fun when someone comes up when I'm holding something and asks If I need any help.

Very nice!! Gives me ideas for a more permanent dipole for my backyard. Oh, and I think you meant “80 m” and not “6 m” on your graph out at the left end of the x axis, right? Again, excellent!

Pretty nifty

You also could use a simple cheap slide switch to link and unlink sections. I build one with that method on the linked dipole I built.

Another excellent presentation, Rob. Hope you didn't get hit too hard by Hurricane Unpronouncable. A lot of trees, power lines and cable service down on the west side of the Connecticut River. Things slowly getting restored.

I'm in NH now and it wasn't too bad here. My sister is staying at my house and told me trees are still down in the road and power is still out. I'll see what it looks like tomorrow when I get home.

@@SevenFortyOne Yes ! So many KZbin hams have gotten greedy and took the monetized thing to an absurd level. A very good way to have a multi-band antenna. By the way, how do you get the re bar out?
@SevenFortyOne4 жыл бұрын
Just wiggle it back and forth until it loosens
@James_Bowie4 жыл бұрын
With the links, maybe cut one of the ring terminals on each link so that it forms a C instead of a ring. That way you can disconnect the link without having to fully remove the nut.
@SevenFortyOne4 жыл бұрын
That a good idea!

Good video. Can you add a link or publish the individual wire lengths chart so it can be printed off? Also, I don't see a link to your Amazon store as mentioned in the video.

I added the link to my Amazon store. I'll out together the wire list when my power comes back on...we've been out for 6 days due to a storm that took down a bunch of trees in the area.

Hello! what is the wire gauge you use to make this antenna, did you use the formula shared in the previous video of the linked dipole to calculte the other bands? 73s TI2GBB

I used 14 gauge wire. I used 468/frequency in MHz. I the used my mfj analyzer to trim each segment to length

The idea is good. But, for a camping antenna, its constructive revision is required. The conductivity of the Earth changes at every point on our planet, and the resonance of the antenna will change in accordance with it. By using long shunts of various lengths instead of fixed short ones, the antenna can be adjusted to the specific operating conditions. Good luck. 73!
@SevenFortyOne3 жыл бұрын
In theory, you are correct. However, for real-world conditions it is close enough to work reasonably well as it is.
