I'm heading to Prince George's to drop a Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Service unit and return a refrigerator truck back to Abbotsford. Today my indoor mag loop is useless with the solar flare. Also Hwy 1 near Nicomen and Lytton shows 5 beside HWY 1

Another great video Simon! I have been using SotaMat for a bit, what wonderful system that we can use!!!! I have used it more than a few times in rural Wisconsin and even out in Yellowstone area where there was no service. Wished we had it when we POTA'd in Ontario. For messages for my wife I have: I'm ok, I'm leaving, I may be late, and I have an emergency send help preloaded in mine. Catch ya later, 73! Mike~NG9B

Mike! So great to hear from ya mate. Oh yes, this SOTAmat is fantastic - and just knowing that you have the 'radio' in your back pocket to set up, get on the air and make contact, pretty amazing stuff. Looking forward to catching you on the air again soon my friend. Cheers!

Glad to had a great time. I missed your spots, and glad you didn't have to evacuate in a hurry. When I was through there in 2018 the mountians were brown from the Pine Beetles killing the trees so not suprised on the amount of fires. You made it home safe so looking forward to our next contacts.. lol VE1SK

Hey buddy, so great as always to hear from you. Yeah, the poor old pines have been decimated by the beetles, and on top of that, lack of rain - it's a worrisome time for the Kootenays and Rocky Mountains. Looking forward to hearing ya on the air soon buddy. Cheers mate!

Duncan! Wooohooo - hey there buddy. Yes a truly beautiful spot. The water is like a bath, and you're right at the foothills of the Kootenay and Rocky mountains. Definitely one of the most beautiful camping spots in the world. Hope you're doing great my friend. Back on the grid here mate. Can't wait to catch up! Cheers and beers mate

10:12 "download the database" how do you do that?
@thehamjazzАй бұрын
G'day Doug - once you've dowloaded the APP - click on SETUP at the bottom of the screen App.... Then Click on Sotamat preparation and follow instructions from there mate - POTA locations/ SOTA locations. Choose your state etc, and then also MESSAGES and Commands. Once you've loaded up all of the Messages/Commands - Click on Done at the top. THEN CLICK ON Load Configuration From Server. This is important as it loads everything you have saved into the server for when you're offline. Hope this helps mate. There are various videos out there on this. Let me know if you have any issues. Cheers

Mark! Wooohoooo great to hear from you mate. I tell ya mate - there were some worrisome times and 'fortunately' we avoided the lightning which came through the day we left. Since then, that part of the province has had some rain, but not enough. Heating up again next week. I tell ya Mark - it was so good 'mentally' to know I can be on the air in minutes, send out messages through either Winlink or SOTAmat and make contacts with people. Ham Radio saves the day buddy. Thanks for all of your support my friend. See ya on the livestream tomorrow wooohooo! Cheers buddy

Hahaha, OMG mate, you should see the monster Brown Trout in there..... I was out paddleboarding in the afternoons, and there is a shoal, and I swear there were dozens of huge 5+ lb brown trout swimming around under me, as you could see the bottom in the 'gin' clear water. Truly amazing place. What a blast! Thanks for watching mate.
