Thank you my friend, Eric. As manufacturer of Rangerfone series, I am happy to see that. S15 is a pretty old model, we made it few years ago , but we don't have any idea on KZbin at that time. But thanks to Eric for being interested in our rugged/android/radio/sexy phone. We will bring up some more product in future

Can this support APRS encode/decode of packets?
@challenger2ultralightadventure7 жыл бұрын
The radio is software based, which means that in order to make it APRS, D-Star, or any other open source digital format compatible, requires only that someone with far greater knowledge than I have, write the code for the radio.
@F4GVE7 жыл бұрын
Cool device, I like the idea. About the CTCSS, this is in fact the "standard codes" use with PMR446 (licence free radio in Europe). It's more simple to use for free licence radio like GMRS/FRS PMR446. But it's weird on an amateur radio device: moreover if you only have 1 to 38, you will only have tones from 67 to 250,3 Hz. 73's Adrien F4GVE

Really need a newer android version but for what it is id say yes its very cool, sounded quite good on the repeater and for 1.5 watts i just feel like if you actually had to use it heavily tho that it would need to be plugged into a charger. But better then the devices zello offers i think. Could it fit a negoya ant.? Then it may have better range, but looks like negoya may be a bit large to fit.

Really liked the video thank you. Not a ham radio user personally but this could be useful for a group I'm with who use 2 way radios when on duty. Couple of questions 1) as we use a group of radios and not into a repeater would that still work same way when programming the frequency? Would we have to offset the tx/rx? 2) does the walkie talkie app come on the phone already? 3) if using roip apps such as zello, will the PTT work with them too? Thanks all. Hope you can answer some of these as this phone seems really neat.

I have a bad feeling about this... It's running 12.5khz wide channels. aren't ham frequencies 5khz?
@AnthonyJohnson-plus8 жыл бұрын
12.5khz is narrow band. Most ham radio analog uses 25khz but digital uses 12.5khz though dstar only uses 6.25khz the only bad thing about that would be it'd sound bad when talking on a wideband channel.
@BEdmonson856 жыл бұрын
Nope, as Anthony says, it's 25k for wideband and 12.5k for narrowband. We're talking about the bandwidth of the signal not channel spacing.

Why would you need a 700+$ smartphone as a ham radio? I don't see the point on building something on such a high priced hardware.
@GEAUXFRUGAL7 жыл бұрын
I can see why? If you are one that wants to be able to travel this is good. I like to travel in my car I sleep in my car and will shower at the PLFT so the less I have the more space I enjoy. No I am not a ham but I do own a Baofeng radio and I am learning a little more each day. I have programmed a repeater into my radio but will not test it as I am not licensed. I have reached out to local hams via FB and yet to get a response but I would like to have one of them use my radio to see if it does indeed work properly so I will have an emergency radio for when the cell service takes a dump like it did in the last flood. If you were near wifi you could place calls via FB isn't that insane I was parked out side of the planet fitness all the roads were flooded and I just did not want to go where I could be trapped so I parked it there on high ground. My cell rang but it was not cell call it was WIFI call. Wife went to her brothers where she attempted to shelter but he flooded too so she was again a refugee. I told her he was going to flood she felt 250 K homes don't flood well missy they do and it did. She nearly lost 2 cars that way. The new way is not working these fool women think husbands are to be seen and not heard? This keeps up I will not be seen or heard as I will be a drifter in the desert playing games with the other full time RVers.
