Thanks. It just makes sense to do that. I'm waiting for the day when I'm in a parking lot and someone happens to have 87.9 FM on their radio and they tell me they heard my entire conversation :) / I have no idea the range of that little FM transmitter, but it hits my little stub antenna no problem.

Thanks... I have to sell it unfortunately. I haven't driven since May 2023. Brain tumor got in my way. I'll never be to drive again. I'm in Peoria, AZ (suburan of Phoenix) and looking a Ham to purchase. I'd hate to someone uninstall that equipment. Let me if your interested buying this truck.

I really enjoyed your method for mixing the outputs, simple innovative solution. Does the truck have an Aux jack in near the android auto usb ports? A pro would be more direct audio with no one nearby picking up your FM re-transmission, the con is you can't share your RX with other nearby vehicles, depends on how you look at it... but both methods are highly useful depending on the case.🙂

Ford got rid of that aux jack starting with their 2022 model.

OK, I tune the stock radio any radio station to any frequency other 87.9 which and Ham and GMRS coming out of.

@@RichKielbasa so, it is one or the other. I like the setup but sometimes I want to listen to FM/Sat with Ham in the background. I might need to have a switch with a external speaker for the alternative

SWR was so-so for the Ham Compactenna, so since this video I replaced the it with a Comet mobile antenna. The GMRS Compactenna is fine and is still mounted there. So keep that in mind. The video shows the regular Ham Compactenna. After the video was shot, I ordered the Ham Compactenna Plus which is a few inches taller. But, neither one of them work as well as the Comet regular mobile antenna.

interesting that you run the KG-1000G with the FTM-400. I just have a little honda accord so not as much room to play with but I put a KG-1000G in it and when I got my tech, replaced it with an FTM-500 modded so I can work GMRS as well. The FTM-500 has a front speaker so no issue hearing it from the control head, but I think I would like the dedicated GMRS VFO. I might put it back in, though I couldnt hear it as well under my seat.

would the fm transmitter work just mounted under rear seat, is there a range issue? would make my setup cleaner not having the fm transmitter on the dash cluttering things up, will it have enough range?

Nice install. I really REALLY wish somebody would come out with a bluetooth 5 hand mic around the size of that Yaesu MH-48A6JA one, but would have a replacable 18650 battery, charge via USB-C, quality audio for the speaker and mic, have All The Buttons™, battery life measured in days when used an hour or two a day when driving, and even a small display to see what frequency you are on. Bonus points if it were a universal retrofit to any radio made in the last 20 years. There are quite a few Chinese devices that check a few of these boxes but they're all pretty much set up for a PTT app called Zello that is used to mimic an actual radio.

Yes there is a reason. This is a 2022 F-150 and Ford has got rid of all physical audio inputs. It's either Bluetooth, or FM Transmit. I chose to use the FM Transmit.

Nice set-up. I'm currently running a CB and KG-1000G in my Jeep with plans to add a HAM in the future. Could you provide links to the gear you're using? I would like to have a similar set-up as this make it easier to hear the comms while on the road.

Wondering if there's any way you could help me with my set up. I've hooked everything up just as you've shown it...I hear the volume click from the FM tuner on the station I've selected. However there's nothing from my Midland 575 coming through. I tested the RX by keeping it on a WX channel and as soon as I plug the 3.5mm into the back of the Midland, the speaker cuts out...good...but nothing is transmitting to the radio. I have a 2018 Ford Raptor. I'm wondering if I should just hook up to the AUX out/in behind the sync 3 system as opposed to the FM transmitter. Any input would be appreciated.

This was months before the spokeswoman made the scene. This video was also taken on my birthday, and some employees got some brew. The real Budweiser, was a nice thought from a friend who thought I still Bud, I switch to BL at age 30 (22 years ago) when I started crapping my pants. So early in 2023 I over to Coor Lights. Then I had a brain tumor and emergency. I haven't this end May 28th because of seizures that turned out to be a nightmare. Unfortunately I'll never be able to drive again, and I've got so tell this truck. Gonna put an ad on QRZ forums.

When I get home from the day, I simply takes both radio inside the house. If a pit stop I'm making throughout the middle of the day, I throw a little golf towel over both of the radios - never had an issue. 😮

I'm gonna... I was a Technician when I made with video... When I got my General, I set up my home shack, then some medical problems have set me back it a bit. Once I can drive again, I will be adding HF to my mobile rig (1 kilowatt may not happen), but I'm all set up for it now.

I won't be making a programming video. I use RT Systems software for all my radios. Check out RT Systems on KZbin and you'll find many tutorials. It's quite simple and efficient.

@@ipodbuff It's in this video. I just ran 3mm audio cables from my radios to the small mixer. Then, I ran one 3mm audio cable to the small headphone amp. Then, I ran one 3mm audio cable and a USB cable for power to the FM Transmitter that's always plugged in to my cigarette lighter. That FM Transmitter is set to trasmnit on 87.9 FM. So, I always keep my stock Ford radio set on 87.9 FM and I'm gold! Realize that anyone within about 30 feet of me who happens to have their radio tuned to 87.9 may also hear my radios, but that's not very probable or an issue because I'm only using the radio while driving, so I'd be out of range in a second or two of that person.

@@ipodbuff Important note before you start plugging in the 3.5 mm audio cables.. I used one stereo cable on the Yaesu FTM-400DR and I used two mono cables for the Wouxun GMRS radio. If you use a mono cable on the Yaesu, it will give you audio problems on VFO 2. That radio has only one audio output. The Wouxun has two audio ouputs (1 for each VFO).

Looks nice and love the FM transmitter. Is that a standard CAT6 you used to connect the Wouxun faceplate?

No, it's not a standard Cat 6.. Some of the pins are flipped on each cable (the long one from the radio as well as the short one from the coupler to the radio).. There's info online how to make your own, but call Two Way Radios to be sure. There's some bad intel out there online and I believe even the owners manual has the diagram wrong. The two cables I used are the same cables that came with the radio.

I'm thinking about doing something similar to that accept have my 2m440 and CB and my cell phone go into a 3.5 mm Jack into the stereo that would be the least invasive way at least the cheapest way for me

Prawdziwy Budweiser, to była miła myśl od przyjaciela, który myślał, że nadal jestem Budem. Przerzuciłem się na BL w wieku 30 lat (22 lata temu), kiedy zacząłem srać w spodnie. Tak na początku 2023 roku udałem się do Coor Lights. Potem miałem guza mózgu i nagły wypadek. Nie skończyłem tego 28 maja z powodu napadów, które okazały się koszmarem. Niestety, już nigdy nie będę mógł prowadzić samochodu, a muszę to powiedzieć tej ciężarówce. Zamierzam umieścić ogłoszenie na forach QRZ.
