In spite of its archaic looks, the Automat S is actually one of the more clever machines of its kind.

If there is any feedback I could leave for this one it's that the audio seemed a bit low, though I was listening to it through my TV. In any case I love your old calculator videos! It's really interesting to see these things in action.

MixMaster1067 It's not just you the audio was a lot quieter than usual
@MathewWoodard7 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I had to crank up the volume and it was still on the quieter side. Love your videos. Please keep them coming.

Yes, this is the quietest video on KZbin.

Start running and not stop? Ah, so its haunted. Sorted.

I really enjoy how much you know about these calculators. Though I am very slow at math, your enthusiasm and know-how are very intriguing and entertaining to watch! Keep it up. :-)

Your “electrical” problem may actually be a mechanical issue, check any parts of the mechanism that interact with any electrical switches, something may be sticking and holding the machine on.

A beautiful machine! Actually, I do like the colour-scheme that the previous owner has applied, even if it isn't the original one. It looks very "classy" and "high-end".😃

You probably already know by now, but the issue with it starting to run the motor after a while will be the capacitor across the motor which is there to cut down on sparking across the speed control contacts is failing.
@1stSpyGuy Жыл бұрын
I had some suspicions it was that, but I'm what I'd describe as a happy amateur in electronincs, so I appreciate the confirmation :)

@@1stSpyGuy Actually I just realised it will be the capacitor across the speed control contacts rather than the motor its self. I have fixed a couple of mine by replacing the capacitor with an eBay "snubber circuit"

here's some feedback for you: you are cool and handsome!! take that, nerd!!!

We should all be eternally grateful for japanese digital pocket calculators, I’ll tell you that!
@Dertsm67955 жыл бұрын
dont you have a cable for this machine?
@1stSpyGuy5 жыл бұрын
I do, but the capacitor is broken so it closes the circuit over the motor, causing it to run continously. I'd rather not damage the machine so I use the hand wheel.
@Dertsm67955 жыл бұрын
@@1stSpyGuy then also replace the capacitor. they are not so expensive

do you have any early digital calculators? I know it's an entirely different realm, but early electronic stuff is super interesting to me, at least.

Do I ever? =) kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=xF6a5_koxog Here's a pristine example of one.

by the time you figured out how this fucking thing works, you could have calculated it all in your head
@1stSpyGuy7 жыл бұрын
True, but the next time you need a number ran the machine will be there for you.
