It's disheartening. Deradicalization will be difficult due to the uniquely radical and bellicose religious tradition that dominates the region. I don't have any solutions personally, other than regime change in Gaza and Ramallah in the short term. I don't think we should just pray really hard and wait for God, though; this is humanity's problem and we humanists need to solve it. It won't end abruptly, imo and I don't expect things there to change in my lifetime.

"Difficult" and "impossible" are different things. The German people had to do it. The real problem here is that, unlike with Nazi Germany, the West is treating HAMAS/PLO as though they are fundamentally legitimate and built upon a philosophical foundation compatible with diplomacy and peaceful coexistence. They aren't, and the West needs to wake up to the reality that this is an ideological war between tolerant democracy and intolerant authoritarianism.

Can someone explain to me why Israel is not sending the Gazans to Egypt, knowing that there were tunnels leading from Egypt to Gaza? I realize there is a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, but by having these tunnels, Egypt chose to violate this treaty. I realize Egypt doesn’t want the Gazans, but too bad they are involved now and should be taking them in.
