I am not aware of anything that you can spray or burn to prevent fleas or ticks while camping. With your pet's breed it is probably best to not take him camping while it is hot since he can get overheated very easily since he has so much fur. As far as him being protected it sounds like you are going to be good. As long as he has his Lyme vaccine and you either give him a flea and tick medication by mouth or apply it to his skin. He should love camping in the winter though since his breed loves cold weather! Veterinary technician here for over 10 years.

I added a comment separately about this. But I figure it's good advice for you too. There are essential oils for ticks. If you get one, rub eucalyptus oil on the tick. No tweezers necessary. It'll come up for air and you just snag it.

honestly, being a chef/cook is hard. if i could go back and change it, i would not have worked in the kitchen lol - working mostly 6 days a week + always working holidays, 8 - 10 hours a day with always being on your feet (you're lucky if you get a break), and dealing with stupid people who think they can cook but are shiiit.

You REALLY enjoyed that meal....we love seeing that. I think I would be more concerned about the heat for Ame than the ticks. I have two Boxers and I wouldn't be comfortable camping with them with the temperature the way it is in area right now, and I know Ame is even more sensitive to the heat than my dogs. I'm sure he'd have a great time if it wasn't hot. I'm on the East coast, so maybe it's not as hot where you are. It was very cute when you got wistful about missing the whole 'first date' thing...I do understand what you mean.

Keemi, my mom always told me that essential oils are great natural bug repellent. The two I use are Geranium and Eucalyptus. The geranium is best for repellant but dogs don't like it too near their noses. Also, eucalyptus is *AMAZING* to remove ticks without tweezers. Literally it suffocates the tick and it'll cone out on its own. Just pull it off after.

For ticks and stuff outdoors for my dog I use a product where you squeeze a little pod of liquid down their back, or a collar for them! There's also actually shampoo's and stuff you can use to wash him to get rid of and prevent them I believe. (And if you want the weirder methods, he can have apple cider vinegar, about 2 tablespoons of it, into his food or water. That just makes the dog's blood less appealing to them.) I hope this helps some, and have a good time!

If you put rice on the bottom ( white or fried) and then the hamburger and then the egg on top, it's called a loco moco in Hawaii. It's very popular. Hamburger steak how you prepared it is very popular in Hawaii too served macaroni salad. This video really reminded me of home. Thank you!

Hi Keemi! If you want a natural insect repellent for dogs, you should try using essential oils! Lavender is good for fleas and crawly bugs (plus it's very calming for animals if Ahmae gets nervous), Cedarwood is good for mosquitoes, Geranium is good for lice, lemongrass is one of the best ones for insect repellants, and Eucalyptus is good for flying bugs! You could probably look into it more, but they're supposed to be harmless to dogs! It works awesome for people too ;) have fun camping!

I'm Hawaii we have a dish called Loco Moco, it's rice with a hamburger patty and a fried egg and brown gravy. I have done it with the fried onions but never the mushrooms. You have pretty munched made a dish that is very famous in Hawaii.

Hi Keemi 🍰 those Hamburg Steaks looked so delicious 😋. I'm so hungry now lol. Sorry, I don't know anything about camping & how to avoid the fleas & ticks. There are candles, I'm pretty sure they're called Citrinella candles for keeping the mosquitos away, not sure whether they really work or not lol. They're pretty popular tho. Smoke also helps keep the mosquitos away. A Bon fire. But for Ahmae, I really don't know. If you do use any type of sprays to keep the fleas & ticks away just be sure to read the instructions very well & make sure that it's totally safe for Ahmae. I know you already know that. Cuz I can see that Ahmae is well taken care of. Have fun camping !

Lavender and rosemary and mint are all natural tick repellent but they have a thermocell that repels ticks ...I haven't ever used that one although I have used the thermocell to repel mosquitoes and it works great !! I have a picture of it if you want me to send it to you !!!
