Terrific series on the 7300. I find the manual at times difficult to follow. Your explanations are crystal clear. Thanks for your immense effort in making this wonderful radio easier to use!

Thank you for this series. You got me started with my IC-7300 now I am getting into the final minutiae of its operation. Thanks so much.

Great info. Only thing display-wise that I didn't see covered is the scroll setting. Thanks for these vids.
@HamRadioA2Z6 ай бұрын
Hi- Yep, that setting didn’t exist when I made that. There is a later video about the 1.4 firmware update where I cover that. I need to make a new version of this video.

Thanks so much for this. It's fantastic to have been using a radio and play a well done video by you and realize how many more features there are. Like getting a new radio!

Great section on scope operation. Just picked this radio up, and you series is helping immensely on adapting to the learning curve

Enjoying going through the videos. It is a lot more interesting than studying the manual. I thought of a use for Leaving the HOLD ON. If you are looking at a dead band, it will show you if any signals appeared over a long time frame. That way you will know if the band is totally dead.

Thanks so much, Tom. I've learned so much about this radio from your videos that I could not find any where else!

There are all 13 Scope set screens in the manual. The 0.03-1.60 is on page 5-7 above the image of the key pad for manually setting the edges.

From other videos I think that this can be used to set the General parts of the band and set not to be able to TX outside the ranges. Or am I looking at a different menu than what is used for that.

That 4th row is also programmable (fixed edges). Great series BTW.

Great video series. I learned a lot of tips. Question? When I set the Scope Fixed Edges for the 6m band, I cannot get No 1 to take 50.1 to 54MHz. I suspect that the band is so wide it will only accept 1 MHz width because it will take 50-51MHZ. Any confirmation? Thanks again for the help and videos
@HamRadioA2Z Жыл бұрын
You are correct. The widest sweep the scope can display is 1Mhz. So, unfortunately, you can’t see the entire 6 meter band. You also can’t see all of 10 meters.

Fixed Edges: When you make a change to any of the three Fixed Edges pressing the edge number (1, 2 or 3) in for 1 second will allow that edge to be reset back to the default.

This is an excellent explanation of changing the fixed edges. But why would I want to change them? I'm not seeing the forest through the trees! I'm guessing there's a simple answer, but what?
@HamRadioA2Z3 жыл бұрын
Hi James. There could be multiple reasons. I don’t know what privileges you have on 60 meters over there, but if you operate on 60 meters a lot, you might change one of the fixed edges in the 2-6Mhz range to cover the 60 meter band. Or, if you frequently operate only a portion of one of the bands - the U.S. General, voice portion of 20 meters for example; You might want to change one of the fixed edges in that range just to cover the portion you normally operate. Also, if you like Short Wave Listening, you might want to change one of the fixed edges to some range outside of amateur bands for that. It’s mainly just a convenience for how different people may want to use the spectrum scope. Thanks for the nice comments! 73, Tom

When I went into the 2.00-6.00 I came up with 4 list. 3.500-4.00, 3.5-3.575, 3.700-3.850, 3.500-3,550! could that be because I have the MARS MOD, or do I have a new software?
@HamRadioA2Z Жыл бұрын
Yes. I believe the updated firmware added an additional set of edges in each range.
@swflKVNC5 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Tom...Once I set the edges is it necessary to save to the SD card? I believe it may all revert back if you do not.
@Dave-VK5PL5 жыл бұрын
AS long as you hit enter when you change the edge, it will stick. Edges can only be 1MHz wide maximum.
@HamRadioA2Z5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom- David is correct. Any changes you make to the Fixed Edges will stay - even with power removed whether or not you have an SD card installed in the radio. If you perform a Factory Reset, then everything goes back to default. You can save all of the radio's settings to an SD card to load back into your radio after a factory reset or to load into a different IC-7300. You can read about that starting on page 8-3 of the manual.
