I am amazed at how few have watched this display, and how muted the comments are thereof. This is an unparalleled display of virtuosity, subtlety, finesse, humor, and musicianship. I doubt a greater technician has ever lived, and it leaves me breathless. I think the ease he portrays at the piano misleads the listener as to how difficult his repertoire is. Most won't even look at the Godowsky transcriptions of the Chopin etudes, and Hamelin eats them for lunch.

These are the most diverting Paganini variations I've ever heard. Love them all.

When Hamelin passes on, I hope they can find some room for him beside Glenn Gould.

This is beyond Genius. Only M.A.H. can understand the full depth of what he is playing for us. We can only sit back and enjoy being born in the same era as him. Any critic of this Maestro is full of his person.

He’s looked the same age for the past 10 years. I watched him in October and he looked identical to this

It's amazing how this theme from Paganini's Caprice has inspired so many composers/pianists: Liszt, Brahms, Lutaslawski, Fazil Say, and now Marc-Andre...probably many others I can't recall at the moment.

while i really like what he has done with paganini's theme, i think this performance isn't as electric as f1f1s's recording... props, though, for the fantastic camera angle!
