I assume the smell will go away over time. Overall, I love this cute little blender. The extra cups and lids are great too!

No, the blades are permanently attached to the bottom of the jar. Pretty easy to clean by adding a couple drop of soap to a jar 1/2 filled with water and 'blend' for 20-20 seconds.

fruit sugar is a WHOLE LOT different (and better for you) than processed sugar. it' is slowly absorbed into blood stream where it is absorbed while the excess glucose is eliminated by the liver - just as designed. Processed sugar spikes blood sugar levels, cannot be absorbed by our cells and overwhelms the liver and cannot be eliminated. The excess is stored and eventually converted to fat.

Common misconception. As a test, eat a 5 Lb. bag of sugar. I'll bet you gain weight and that weight WILL be stored as fat. Our SAD (Standard American Diet) is packed w/processed (man-made) sugars hidden in every form possible. The body cannot absorb and use it nor our Liver process it out of our bodies via the kidneys before the next onslaught of sugar at our next meal/snack. The excess is stored and converted to fat cells for "future use." Only the "future use" never happens usually.

Cups are top rack dishwasher safe and the lid where it seals around the cup does NOT leak. No problem there. There's a flap that slides over the hole you drink from when the lid is on. This flap does not seal the hole. For normal travel use it's fine (ie, using in a car, etc.). However, you have to make sure the cup stays upright. You wouldn't want to put the lid on and throw the cup in a gym bag for an after-workout smoothie.

Hello everyone. I've owned mine about 1.5 years. The only caution I would add is to pulse the blender. Don't run it for a long period of time. I burned out the motor in my first blender doing this. I have to say that Hamilton Beach replaced it for free. I've been careful with my second blender and pulse it. I have to say the results have been good. It makes great smoothies, and yes it works with ice cubes.

I have gone through 3 of these blenders and they all end up leaking after a few months. I really would like to repair the problem, its a shame to have to throw it out when the base works. Please let us know where we can find replacement coupling. forward with your response. Thank you.

Thanks. I avoid ANY processed (man-made) form of food/drink in my smoothies. Only way to keep the Glycemic Index of ingredients low enough for the body to process the fruit sugars normally. I ONLY use water (I've tried coconut water too - not for me) in my blends.

Inverting the containers over the base is a great idea. If they just changed the dimensions a little bit, the fit could be perfect.

It wasn't locked, you have to click it into place. But great demo of it. I recently bought one for my meal replacement shakes and I love it. The only thing is, I clean it daily right after I use it but every morning I wake up and it smells weird. I haven't tried to blend fruits in it, just powder, but it's so much easier to use than a conventional blender. (:

I've done both BUT, the small hole in the lid doesn't allow anything but the thinnest of smoothies to pass through so, I normally dump in another container and stick the HB jar in the sink with water or just rinse it out and be done with it. The blades are stainless steel so they won't rust but it's hard to get down around the blade area and clean if the smoothie has dried.

I love this blender! I use it as a supplement to my Omega VRT 350 HD Juicer. I make veggie/fruit juice in my auger juicer and then use the juice for liquid in my Hamilton Beech blender. In the HB blender, with the liquid, I add Spirulina, freshly ground flax seed and a banana. It is a powerfully healthy drink to start my day. Also, I don't get the bullet. Why upside down? I just don't get the design. My HB is all I need and it is so cheap. I been using the same blender for three years now. Because of this blender I am able to get the Spirulina down!! Spirulina is a little tough to drink and until I found this little blender I was gagging a lot. Now, I just drink the smoothie while I am getting ready for work.

Update: I take back my previous review. HB now makes the jars with smaller blades, which makes it less effective. I know because have the older one and just bought the (apparently) identical one. Blades are smaller. not good.

After watching videos & reading online reviews about "low end" blenders. I'm just going to get her the Cuisinart blender with travel cups. She's college student, with 2 part time jobs . . . having a reliable personal blender is a must.

Awesome, much safer with the standard blender design vs the nutribullet or "bullet" types that are a sealed vessel and can explode under the wrong conditions.

I have had mine for 12 years. I replaced the container once. Now the blade at the bottom won’t stay in. When I blend it pops out and makes a mess everywhere

Jeez. You sure packed alot into that little blender. I had the Nutribullet bullet. There are a slew of complaints when it comes its motor. After two weeks, my own motor decided to give out. I am shopping around for a new blender. This is small, compact, and surprisingly quiet. I also like the fact that it uses "single serve" cups. I just might purchase this. Thanks for the review. Hi Chikavive. Yes, the motor/blade combo is surpisingly powerful for this small setup. I've added carrots and though, as you referred to, there is the *occasional* small chunk. it will handle them. Just break/chop the carrot up into smaller pieces first. Check out my website (link in video decription) for other reveiws as well. 1- noise. At 6 AM it's a lot quieter to use this than the high speed blender. 2- convenience. I can make up my smoothie and clean up in about 15 min tops vs. about twice as long with my high speed blender. 3- because I'm so used to making 72-92 Oz in the high speed blender, I always want to add more than I should for a single serving since I have such a large jar. BTW, I recommend the Back to Basics blender for single serve now. Check vid on my channel.

Nope, don't think you got a dud. i put my frozen fruit in the mixer cup and store in fridge overnight so it can thaw out a bit. Don't know how the mixer would handle frozen right out of the freezer but from your experience, no too well. i have come across a smoothie make however, in the same price range that has stellar performance with frozen fruit and mixes up a large serving. it's been my go to blender for my morning smoothie. look for a review after the holidays. thanks for your feedback.

I haven't added flaxseed to any smoothies - I normally don't add it to fruit smoothies and I blend a batch of the whole seed in my high speed blender first. I will see if this blender can grind up the whole seeds and report back.

Yes, depending on how much you add - it's an awfully small container. The motor is a bit underpowered to crush a LOT of cubes but again, you can't many in along with smoothie ingredients. Couple suggestions - use frozen fruit or freeze some fresh fruit to chill the smoothie w/o adding additional volume to jar. - check out my review of the Back to Basics SE3000 Smoothie Maker - it's my new "go to" travel sized blender. I use it every morning instead of the HB blender.

I still prefer my Cooks rocket blender by JCP. It was discountinued but now the identical unit is the Bella rocket blender. Only provides 13 oz cups but its so easy to use. Just thought youd like to review it for your next vid.

are the cups dish washer safe, and when you said it leaks when you tilt it do you mean it will leak around the rim of the lid that you put on it? so it doesn't really work to be able to travel as well because u can spill it?
