Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender Review

I've used these for the last 5 years. for the price and blend quality, it's ok for my needs. I like that i can remove the lid and add things as needed during blending, as opposed to other blenders that require you to unscrew a lid. with that said, a few bad things The cord holder on the bottom is just a bad design, if the cup over flows, which at some point it will, that cord holder just collects gunk that is impossible to clean. Another thing, the cups will eventually leak through the blending blade. All of mine leak and last no more than one year. To add to that, NO WHERE CAN you just purchase a few cups or jars for a reasonable price. I mean, this is just wasteful and add to all of our garbage. based on the prices i should be able to get 2 jars for 14 or 3 jars for 20. Perhaps even a less expensive pop in repair blade that would redo the seal? I just don't see the benefit of adding to waste so easily when just a seal around blade goes bad. So in my mind, this company just wants us to consume more. I hope to find another blender to try, as soon as i can find a small one that has a pop off lid so i easily add items during blending..

This is my third hamilton beech personal blender. the last time the rubber ripped. This new version is SMALLER than the old one. Notice how she has to be careful how much liquid she adds to it. It is also wider. But no getting around the fact that this is a 14 oz blender down from a 20 oz blender. It's called when you don't want to raise the price, shrink the product. they are doing this with pots and pans (also using LESS metal in them) and many other products as well. So prices may be the same but the product size isn't. That's called INFLATION.

Thanks for the video. You really covered all bases. Hamilton Beach's demonstration was very vague and only showed the sales woman blending 1 item. Looks like a nifty little appliance.

Just a suggestion. I wouldn’t recommend quickly pulsing the blender as it is bad for the motor and can wear it out overtime.

I got this one , only used for a week. It started emitting some kinda burnt wiring smell for 2 days, today morning, it just turned hot and stopped working. I prolly ran it for less than 4 minutes every morning to make a smoothie. And even when it was working properly, the liquid used to leak through the plates and make a mess on the unit . But for $19 at Walmart you get what you pay for . DO NOT BUY if you are planning to use for more than a few weeks.

The design of this blender is great. BUT a disappointment in quality. Travel lid is too stiff to install on blending jar - so it leaks. Motor emits an acrid odor - probably won't last.

Hi Netania, unfortunately just about every blender will be loud especially in a dorm room. This Hamilton Beach is not as loud as a regular full size blender though- it's worth a try :)

Mine did this for the longest, till I realised I wasn't setting the blender on the engine properly. Start with putting it on the unlock, and twist it to the right to lock. Goodluck!!!

Alright somebody help me out. I need a blender for 2 cups worth of protein shake but I dont want one cup of protein shake and one cup of foam... I figured out how to make my shake with my regular blender but its a process to have the finished product come foam free... I just want to add all the ingredients and blend and drink

the foam is unavoidable due to science of the protein powder, maybe try a different brand of protein powder. I blend my mass gainer protein powder with almond milk and I do get that layer of foam on the top.

Hi, smaller, inexpensive blenders like these won't make very thick drinks. They need a decent amount of liquid to blend :)

Can this be used for making making hollendaise sauce, which calls for slowly adding adding melted bitter to blending egg yokes, for eggs benedict, etc? If not, why not?

It wouldn't be able to hold the hot butter at a temperature high enough to pasteurize the egg but if you were to pasteurize it separately afterwards it probably wouldn't be an issue

Another concern is the shape. Because of the shape while it is blending it does tend to ride up the sides of the cone, so streaming things in while it is blending could lead it a mess on the counter

The blade is not removable so it doesn't matter. There's no chance of it falling out while drinking or anything like that. Sure it looks a little weird but once you take it on the go and its filled with a drink people can't even see the blades.
