Everyone who is comparing an automatic chronograph to a simple 3-hander, considering price, size & other directly impacted factors, try to ponder more on those thoughts. You should not be comparing a Jazzmaster Maestro Chrono to a Khaki Field, they are completely different watches.

If you're getting a Valjoux 7750 or the updated Swatch group 7750 for around $800 that's very fair. Not fair to compare it to the price of a watch that doesn't have a chronograph complication.

This was my first chronograph and I still love it. The dial is just beautiful. He is correct in that it is bulky, but I have big wrists so I don't care as much. Overall, a pretty good assessment of this watch.

This watch is the same price 5 years later. Now is it worth it?

I own the small seconds and an Omega AQ and they have a similar heft and feel on the wrist. You will not miss going the whole day with out one of your prized watches on your wrist if you put this Hamilton on a steel band. The case is thin and the lug design is pure elegance. The steel band will give you that 6 thousand dollar watch vibe. Bought mine at Masters of Time.

The Khaki King in cream dial would be my preference. There’s also the Seiko sarb035, though smaller. This Hamilton seems a little steep in price considering the great choice in their field watch line. At $1200 you can pick up a few really nice watches. As a dress watch, it seems too bulky and the Seiko Cocktail or Orient Bambino can give it a good run for the money and also get you the Khaki King cream for a more sporty dress look. I’m not knocking those who prefer bigger watches, I just think you can do better in that price range.

hey themightysquid, Well said (as always). Hamilton provides so many great field watch options, most with a smaller price tag. It is going to be difficult for them to convince people to buy this Jazzmaster Maestro over those options, let alone all the other brands that also offer their own great watches. Thanks! -Jon Rihtar

If you dissapointed with this watch. Just give us alternative, automatic swiss chrono, with less money and slimmer case watches

I own a dark grey Maestro. They have the all time best shaped lugs of any watch I have ever seen. Every thing else looks boxy.

No mention of the 7750 mechanism which makes this the bargain of the year. Also explains the thickness ....

On the other hand Hamilton Chronographs are one of the cheapest swiss chronographs where can you get a swiss chrono with a valjoux 7750 other swiss watches charge much more with the same movement in.But don't get me wrong I think all swiss watches are over priced.

The rose-gold details look more pink than gold in almost all photos on the internet. Do they look more gold than pink in real-life?
@watchspec
@watchspec 3 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely not yellow gold in color. I would describe it to be more of a copper-toned gold color than a pink tone. It really looks great with the caramel colored strap. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching! -Jon

I was going to start my comment with “the watch is too thick and no main seconds hand is a let down”, but when you mentioned the price...whoa!!! $1300? That is way, way overpriced. You can get a Tissot Ballade COSC with an 80hr power reserve for less than $700. That’s a much easier sell to me. Still, I appreciate the video. Thanks.

Hey Eye Heart Sushi, Yes, this price is a hard pill to swallow considering the size/comfort issues and lack of a seconds hand (a must have for me being a mechanical engineer). I know they excluded the seconds hand for the aesthetic balance of the dial, but it's not worth it. Having said that, there is a version of the Jazzmaster with a main-seconds sub-dial (amzn.to/2EtPYEY), but the look is a little different - and not in a good way. I wouldn't spend this kind of money on that version either. As you mentioned, there are so many better options out there for the same or less money. Thanks for watching and for the comment. -Jon Rihtar

WATCHSPEC I took a look at the other version and it’s better but you’re right: still not worth the money. I’m still learning about watches trying to be disciplined about my first purchase(s). I’m considering a Seiko PADI Pepsi dial, a Tissot Visodate, and a Sinn 556 IB as the first three watches of my collection, but that could change. Also like the Hamilton “Interstellar.”

@@eyeheartsushi2212, I see you're thinking of going straight to some Swiss luxury right out of the gate. You can and there is nothing wrong with that, but you will find that you learn things that you like/dislike about watches from wearing them. You may want to consider staggering your purchases to see what you like or dislike about the first watch to see if your tastes change for the second watch, and so on (and so on, and so on. ... ). However, everyone has different situations, personalities and tastes so that comment won't necessarily work for everyone - you'll have to consider that for yourself. Feel free to check out my other reviews - they may help showcase features and fine details you may want to consider about watches. My written reviews at WATCHSPEC.COM are another resource as they go through ALL the fine detail for every watch that I review - much more so than the videos. Let me know if you have any questions along the way where I may be able to help. Thanks again, -Jon Rihtar

With all due respect, this watch is based on an ETA 7750 (H21) which the movement alone costs over $600. The Tissot Ballade is a different watch using a modified ETA 2824 which is a much less expensive though robust movement. One must compare apples to apples.
