I am truly impressed by Mr. Baldassarre's overview of watches. Well beyond the superficial analysis of the surface features, he is fluent in his knowledge of the families of movements, the certifications, the histories, orientations within the market, and even mentions Hertz! What a professional. This video series stands head and shoulders above other on KZbin. Sets the standard in my opinion.

Today came the day during my vacation in Italy (living in a small island in the middle of the Atlantic, very limited chance to buy such things) that I bought my very first automatic watch, a Hamilton Aviation Pilot Day Date Air Zermatt Limited Edition which caught my eyes and then my soul too while going through quite some Hamilton watches at Majer Orologeria in Turin, Italy. As someone who's planning to exit from his current industry (IT) and studies to become a therapist, the history of Air Zermatt which is a high level aerial rescue team, the history of this watch made my choice and my day that those folks are in so important role of rescue and supporting people that I'd like to dedicate my life in the future. It's been a few months of a journey, reading and listening to many of Teddy's content along with others to then find my first automatic watch that has its special connection to me, worth the wait and patience, super happy with my purchase 😊

I’ve been a big Hamilton fan for years. The combination of heritage, design, features, and value is hard to beat, especially the Khaki Aviation range. But I do agree, they’re lagging a bit in dive watches. In that category they’re being handily beaten by Glycine and their Combat Sub line. I’m not sure that the Invicta acquisition has done Glycine much good, but if nothing else, it has made lots of different Combat Sub models available for under $500, and they’re still really nice watches with a lot of heritage of their own. There’s an idea for another video - a history of Glycine, their most important models, and what the Invicta acquisition has meant (maybe including a little detective work to find out what is currently going on with them, and why it’s so hard to find any models other than the Combat Sub).

Hey Teddy! Great video, as always. I have one Hamilton as always and absolutely love it. I also found this video particularly interesting because I spent 4 years in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I did my undergraduate work at Franklin & Marshall College which was just a few blocks from a bunch of factories (Hamilton's former building, Armstrong Floors, etc.). It's remarkable how much important industry was in this seemingly all agricultural-based central Pennsylvania town. I enjoyed hearing the history of the company in Lancaster, most of which I just didn't know. But it made my ownership of one of their pieces even more personal. One more tidbit. . . I migrated from the New Jersey shore (where I grew up) and started college. I spent a lot of time on the F&M College radio station (WFNM, ironically), on the air. It didn't take more than a day or two for me to be told by local listeners that the correct pronunciation of the town is LAN-caster. I, like everyone else, called it LAN-CAS-ter, like the way we all pronounce Burt Lancaster. It wasn't hard to fix! Keep up the great work, Teddy & Team.

I'm thinking about a Navy Scuba. I have a few watches plus I fly and dive and the truth is, the dive/fly watches are more of a theme than an actual useful tool. Try reading tiny letters and faffing with clickers and minuscule dials in bad weather when your single pilot in poor light - or messing with whatever stuff on your wrist when diving. Truth is, when flying we use computers that have redundancies (and we have phones with incredible apps too) and when diving, we use dive computers and we go with buddies (and have tables). In both instances, a simple, tough, accurate and HIGHLY legible timepiece is nice too. Navy Scuba is all that I think - plus it's not huge and at $750, a decent buy.
