The spit is partly intentional. Groff is known for spitting, his nickname is Groffsauce. But with this performance He drank water before going onstage for extra spit. King George III is known as the "mad King" and legends say his mouth Was foaming when he was extremely angry. This just Shows the Genius that is Jonathan Groff.
@carlotta4th3 жыл бұрын
I hope there's an article about that extra water thing because it sounds like urban legend. Broadway people are always spitting--it just happens when you're projecting and they get used to it.

His stare is epic. He picks someone in the audience and just stares at them. Creepy
@TheN8ism4 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: When he performed with the crown, it was so heavy that he had to walk that way and stand up so straight to stay balanced. The producer thought it was so hilarious that they kept it and forced him to use it. Also, when he said “everybody” for the first time, it was completely in character. So, the chorus, rather than singing in the wings, they all had to quickly run out and stand straight because they didn’t know what else to do. Apparently it was so perfect for the character that he put it into the show.
@aresef4 жыл бұрын

A flamboyantly dressed man in a crown awkwardly cross-steps up a stage while singing a bright, bouncy, and comical Beatles-esque show tune. "That is so menacing!" And I absolutely agree. There's the "Joker" type of comedic menace, where something ostensibly comical is actually terrifying because he's so unpredictable, and there's this, where something comical is terrifying because the character is completely predictable and hides nothing; the stark contrast of the happy tune and bright imagery only serves to amplify the overt threats. Brilliant stuff.

The animatics were cool... I always love when someone, inspired by a work of art can express his or her own take on it; someone who loves it wants to share it with us an new artistic view of it... Very cool. However, this must be seen in the theatrical performance. It's a masterpiece pure and simple (if not simple, maybe incredibly complex with a laser precision vision). Since Disney released it I have maybe, oh I don't know, a MILLION times. And I cry every time.... You guys are boss and you're representing Canada.. All the love to you guys thanks for sharing my enthusiasm for this play. Peace!
@jennawhite54663 жыл бұрын
The best parts of Groff’s performance here is this: He blinks a total of less than 10 times in the number, giving off crazy vibes with the long stares. He never swallows while singing, allowing for the crazy spittle. And he sings a lot of sharp and flat notes. All of this makes her portrayal of the King as a clearly unbalanced individual. And then, of course, there is the murder you to show you my love bits..
@disableddragonborn2 жыл бұрын
The way he walks was actually born out of necessity. That crown is apparently really damn heavy and hard to balance on his head.

I know it’s funny that he just stand still and walks like a runway model but at the time of them filming this his crown was made of a heavy material so he had to stand so still so it wouldn’t move that’s why his head doesn’t move so not only is he great at acting he has a great sense of balance.

Fun fact: Jonathan Groff had to walk like that for a while because the crown was extremely heavy. He left the show for a bit and a jewel fell of his crown so, they replaced it and made it much lighter. That's why he was slow. And, Jonathan always spits when he performs.

Fun fact, the spit is 100% on purpose, king George went mad and was known to fly off the handle and foam at the mouth and spit while yelling. Also i heard the actor drank a bunch of water before that song so his mouth would still have a little water in it, but idk if that's true.
