I'm thinking that a fiber laser is in my future. Sharing this with my entrepreneurial bride for her ideas. Lots of options. Can't wait for Christmas! Cheers, Hamilton.

I like the idea of putting my logo on aluminum, then can attach to the wood products I sell. Have to get that in the budget for next year.

Very cool, Id love to have any laser machine. I'm still working on learning my CNC router. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to see a video on materials not commonly mentioned as usable with Fiber lasers. Like Ceramic tile.

I'd love to play with one of the fiber lasers. I just purchased a Laser Master 3 and I've had a ton of fun just finding new things to do with it. I'd like to try pens or dog tags, or even create my own blanks on my CNC to engrave.

I couldn't agree with you more on a laser, we're in the process of planning to build in addition to the shop that would be specifically for CNC's and the laser. I've seen so many cool things with lasers that cany come close to. The biggest issues just like CNC's what one do you buy?? What software to run?? What am I waiting for??? lol

With the CNC router, I feel like there might be an opportunity to walk away while it runs. That allows you to do other things concurrently. Watching you do this, given the manual feeding, how do you bill? Is it still the $1/hr, do you charge more because your time is worth more than machine time?
@HamiltonDilbeck Жыл бұрын
so its a little different because of the tool itself- but I do charge more than the cnc minute rate

@HamiltonDilbeck, I see that you are already being creative on your laser. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences with it. Maybe some day in the future I will buy one, or I may be the lucky one on the maketember contest 😅. Have a wonderful day.

@@HamiltonDilbeck in your opinion, if you were starting out all over again, what would you purchase first? Laser engraver or CNC router? TIA

I'm not seeing a whole lot of things you can do with the fiber over a diode like your 24w except maybe for the hardened steel roller. And you didn't even cover stone which is one of the major benefits over other laser types. Am I mistaken here? it's just faster in most cases...
@HamiltonDilbeck Жыл бұрын
I haven't tried out stone! as far as diode vs fiber- they are very different types of lasers!

I have had a fiber laser for many years and these are great ideas for people who can afford to drop $5k or more on a fiber laser and then start making and selling $3 nick nacks that have almost no value and everybody either is making or will be making if you do well. If you want to actually make money with a fiber laser you will have to look well beyond putting a design on mint box. This is super small time ideas that will lead to more frustration than anything else. If you are going to drop $5k on a fiber laser than you better be damn good at creating your own graphics in illustrator and be ready to learn how to work on guns or knives and be damn creative and good at it. These ideas will literally get you no where. No offense but they wont. Thousands of people with fiber lasers already all over the place doing cheap basic ideas that amount to zero money. Remember ...if its easy and fast....everyone will want to do it.

They arent that expensive if you stay away from the big name brands. They are wildly overpriced with the name slapped on them.

Do you have an example of a brand that is quality but not crazy-priced?
@lunatic2316 ай бұрын
With these, I have seen that the renowned brands tend to have a better build quality
