I'll tell you something I learned from one video call and one chat over some chicken wings and drinks with the guys from Carveco and Hamilton at Workbenchcon.... Hamilton is the same guy in person as he is on video. He is brutal honesty while extremely humble and I promise that he will never say a word about any product that he doesn't believe 100%. I get the feeling this might not be the case with every KZbin channel!!

Hamilton, you're one of the very few individuals who's opinion I trust even when given free product. Most of the time, those types of videos are nothing more than glorified spec sheet reads. So keep it up, your content is amazing. I was pretty much set on a shapeoko 5 pro, but there's some launch issues that are giving me pause. It'll probably still be a good while until I have enough for a cnc, but the elite woodworker is looking like that may be the way to go. I appreciate your cnc videos.

I totally agree. I have the X50 and bought it in 2021 and have made the machine's purchase price back numerous times over with just the basics. I also don't think there is a better machine on the market as of today. Can't wait to move into a larger shop and upgrade to the Elite! Great company in my opinion. Good video and good info to help get people to consider the best purchase they'll make if they want to make money in their spare time.

Hi Great Video. I am not computer literate. I bought a $250 small 7" x 11" put it together plugged it in and the router mover. Then using Carveco program I designed a small name plate, hit go and nothing happening. I would need to go to a school somewhere for at least 40 hours of training before I ever buy another CNC. and at 78 yo not sure I want to do that. Have to admit it would be real cool to have a CNC. I cant wait to order one. Was hoping to on release but the wife put a stop to that LOL, Building a new shop and buying weekend a car in the last 2 years was enough for her. I have been running my woodworker since the original release! After I didn't get the OK I decided to upgrade to the journeyman. Coming from a shapeoko years ago. The onefinity is the best bang for buck. Super rigid and fast. The masso takes care of all complaints I had with the original.

I absolutely love your honesty when talking about CNC's I am in the process of buying a CNC. I am from Europe and for some time I was close to buy a Stepcraft M1000 but then all of a sudden I saw videos about Onefinity. It is absolutely stunning what they came up with. I am just blown away. The reason why I have not ordered one yet is because of shipment costs and in case of warranty issues or problems. Sending it back and forward would cost a lot of money! In your process of finding a CNC was Stepcraft ever an option? Keep continuing these good KZbin videos. It’s a pleasure to follow you!

Good video, however, you offer opinions for your setup and not necessarily for other setups. For example, if you are in a garage, you need to stay quiet for your neighbors and an air cooled spindle is much louder than a water cooled spindle. Also, a spindle is better for business and a dewalt router will work for hobbyists.

A CNC without a Spindle is like a car with an ON/OFF switch in place of the accelerator pedal. It works, but.... IMO, for the Elite level machines, QCW, Spindle and Stiffy should be considered mandatory/standard equipment. Moving beyond the 1F one is probably going to look at full-steel welded and larger format. The need for that really depends on what you're making.

Love your channel and your laid back attitude. I looked over many machines and the Onefinity was on top. Shapeoko was out of the running along with several others because they are belt-driven. However, after a lot of research, I wound up buying a Longmill II 30x48 CNC machine from Scienci Labs. They are a great company in Canada. It's very similar to the Onefinity, but costs a lot less. I use the Makita router currently with Vectric vCarve Pro, gSender and a dedicated computer along with a lot of optional equipment. I'm into the whole thing for around $3000 (Vectric vCarve Pro is $699 alone).

Great video! I appreciate your transparency and neutrality with regard to your opinions. I would love to buy this machine, but am worried because I don't have a lot of room in my shop. I saw that Onefinity doesn't recommend this unit for vertical mounting. Any guesses as to what the limiting factor is? X axis? Y axis? Wondering if some form of counter-balance system could resolve the issue, like a garage door opener spring system. Low inertia, so that it didn't adversely affect the accel rates.

Shipping on the 1F is at least $300. The Touch plate (which they call probe) is just under $100 itself. The PWNCNC watercooled spindle is just over $1100 with shipping and its required cooling system and the better cool connectors ($70 of that). $6100 + tax is a more realistic starting point.

Just completed to purchase order for everything you mentioned, with all upgrades for the 2.2kw water cooler spindle from PwnCNC. With all upgrades for water cooling system and shipping the cost is $1178.6o. The Onefinity Elite Forman with the touch plate, stiffy, and leveling system plus $395 for shipping to Oregon is $4907.38. Grand total is $6086.38. There is no sales tax in where I live so I avoided about $563 in sales tax based upon where I used to live in CA.

Great review and YES, you are definitely allowed to have an opinion. I've been comparing CNC machines in figuring out which one is for me and I was immediately struck by the OneFinity's apparent quality upon first seeing it. I'm still "CNC-less" at this point, but I've watched many, many videos to continue my comparison education. When I get to the point where I can justify a CNC for my own shop, it will definitely be a OneFinity, so I really appreciate the info in this video. Stopping here so I can smash the subscribe button~!

I wonder, did running the spindle at 50rpm generate much heat? I know my HY2.2kW water cooled spindle manual says the min is 7000rpm. I presume that's because with a 2 pole spindle it looses a lot of efficiency slower than that. The VFD comes programmed with minimums for that reason.

I'm on the fence ordering one of these. I need to cut 1/8" acrylic (clear). And a CO2 laser with a 48"x48" working area is far more expensive than this. I'm not sure if the laser would be faster or have a better finish, for the cost difference. The 4-4.5 month wait has me apprehensive to order one. Really great to see you get one, and definitely looks like an amazing machine. Was thinking the other day I hadn't seen a video from you, so glad to see a new video. I am considering a CNC machine to cut flat packs for my speaker designs. A question about how I would go from CAD / 3D modeling program to cutting a piece - how the data of the "finished" piece should end up, if input into the machine? How much of the actual cutting process is "automated" vs modified as you see how it goes vs having to "manually" telling the machine how you want it done? I am thinking that I would cut the panels on a table saw, and then cut rabbets and grooves, etc - so the waste is minimized (saw kerf vs bit size) AND the table size can be much smaller. I would be mainly working with Baltic birch and my local supplier (Boulter Plywood in Medford MA) can do square cuts for just $1.50 each. And when I would do MDF, I do not want to be handling full sheets, anyway. Oh and less dust. I am looking forward to your video on dust collection. Getting the hose on the cutter set up; and what is needed for the collector/vacuum are key, I'm sure. Looking at the OneFinity website, I am slightly confused about how to get the spindle (with air cooling?) vs the Makita router. I have the battery version of the Makita, and I know it might not be up to cutting a 12mm deep cut at any reasonable speed. I will watch your other videos and look for things like setting up and indexing, etc. EDIT: I own a PhlatBoyz PhlatPrinter 3 and from that experience, I am pretty sure I want the closed loop system! The accuracy you gain from this, I think is critical.

Have you any input in regard to that machine? I've got a Bob's at home that works well for what I need, but I think I need something a bit beefier for school use. I'd also like to keep with the spindle due to noise, being able to program in specific rpm, etc. I'm most familiar with V-Carve Pro and we'd likely use that software. we also do modeling and CAM output at times with Fusion360. Sorry for the Newb tech question, but I trust you better than the Geek Squad...Can I design and program from a PC or Mac laptop (in my house), and plug'n'play to the Onefinity touchscreen? (also no wi-fi in my shop)

That looks like an impressive machine. But if looking at spending 7k on a build then I think I'd rather try come up with the extra bit to get a shopsabre 23.

Great overview, really sold me on this tool. Onefinity looks to be really upper level light industrial that is still priced for prosumer...kinda like Langmuir. PWM doesn't recommend any metalworking with this spindle, how do you feel about its potential for light aluminum work?
