My father passed away just over 5 years ago. His beloved 1979 Mercedes station wagon has been sitting in the garage and has not been started in close to 10 years as he was very ill for a long time. It has 138k original miles and a 5 cylinder inline diesel. You are giving the confidence to maybe see if it will crank over. Pretty sure he loved that tank more than me. Lol. Thanks for the videos. I have learned a lot from you and the guys and best of all I have two crescent wrenched and a hammer. Lol.

The air may have released the pressure on the shoes but often the shoes rust right to the drum so caging or releasing with air still may not free them up. If your lucky taking the wheels off and beating on the drums may free them up.

A Real shame you all couldn't get the brakes to release while onsite, but great end shot seeing it rolling. Those old air valves can get gummed up if not moved. Regardless, a couple thousand into the old girl and she looks good. I'd say the wash and wax job it got improved it a ton. Thanks for sharing, Jason

Maybe because he wanted to make sure they still worked and he could drive it home? Or maybe we just didn’t think about it. 🤷‍♂️ caging brakes usually used for emergency purposes only. But that is something we could’ve tried. I’ll keep that in my hip pocket for the next one.

Remember seeing my late Dad 1984 International Eagle Highway Tractor LT 9800 18 wheeler Truck daul axle in 1994 when retired sold in 2 months and not sure it now is Hank but my dad got a nice $ for it and in 1995 when sold 1973 3ton Chevrolet Western Star Gas motor Stake truck single axle , plus 1976 9ton GMC General had Desiel motor with daul axles stake truck of farm all 3 got nice money for but 1973 and 1976 trucks seen since I repainted before left plus all road worthy too ! Those truck well took care and would said holy moly excellent trucks and not rust out too! Heard International my dad got $60.000 for it and 2 stakes General Motors types trucks sold for $10.000 each too my dad told me! But not sure year the 1976 International 5 ton daul axles with 466 gas motor was sold but a cousin still use for farm use last heard and seen in 1993 still Red in Color to Lol! Excellent video Hank and got excellent videos always!
