I purchased a Mahindra Max 28xl HST in 2013, #1 price #2 no regenerative canister #3 flexibility. My tractor is equipped with a backhoe and loader. I also purchased a Landpride rotary mower, box blade, and landscape rake. I later added a Grapple on the bucket and 5 ft disc. I love my tractor.

I have the smaller mahindra, the 1526 shuttle. It outweighs my neighbors 38 hp jd. He has a 6 foot disc and has a hard time pulling it once the ground is busted up. I tore into 2 acres and had no problems. Will be posting videos on my channel soon.

The masses go to the big advertisers -- Deere and Kubota. There's nothing wrong with these "big brand" compact tractors, but there are many alternatives (like Mahindra, Branson, Kioti, LS, etc) that offer more power, capacities, weight and features for the same money. As many have already said, having a good dealer nearby is a major item that should be considered prior to purchasing, along with getting a tractor that fits your needs.

Mahindra started by assembling International B275 tractors in India way back in the 1970s. My dad had one which worked for over 25 years. I had a Mahindra 475 DI for a long time. Never let me down. Glad that Mahindra tractors are being sold in the USA. All these great machines are the results of continuous development and research. They are worthy successors to the venerable B275.

Mahindra and HS are both great tractors. I'm glad our Asian allies are sending us such great products. It broke my heart when the deal to bring Mahindra trucks over to the US fell through. There hasn't been a small diesel truck in the US since Datsun went out of business. It's a truck for true off roaders, not the dorks with a $4,000 suspension and another 5 grand of tires that are afraid to go on a dirt road because of scratches. Douches.

Another thing to mention about Mahindra is they used to build tractors for IH back in 1963 so they do know something about building tractors and they have been around since 1945 and also built Willy's Jeeps back in 1947. Agree with you on weight I was a mechanic for a local John Deere dealer and the transmissions, and final drives where cast aluminum. And I hate the regen process dumbest thing ever.

Hey just found the channel and subscribed👍 I too looked at the Mahindra but went another way look like great tractors though. I will say my tractor has the DPF and has gone through 2 regens in 95 hrs the engine has to reach a certain temp before it kicks in and then just revs higher and you keep on working no wasting time or slowing down, takes about ten minutes.
@thesouthernlife4061
@thesouthernlife4061 4 жыл бұрын
Idk why people always talk or complain about having to regen like you said most of the time it will happen while your working and doesnt slow you down any just keep working so that really isnt a deal breaker the mahindra uses an egr like setup where it recirculates the exhaust gases and runs a hotter exhaust system to burn off the soot and whatever else so basically its always running hotter exhaust and recirculating instead of trapping the exhaust and only running hotter to burn it off as needed so idk which engine will last longer the 1 always running hotter to burn off the exhaust and steady recirculating it back into the engine or the 1 that traps the exhaust doesnt recirculate it and only runs it hot when needed to burn it off i guess time will tell but i would think regen would be better and last longer than always running the exhaust hotter and recirculating the exhaust back into the engine but like everyone says its really up to the options you want, distance to dealer, and which dealer has better service because no matter what brand they all have issues sometimes

I picked the Kubota Grand L3560 HSTC. I had researched several models, but ended up limiting my choice to three models, John Deere, Mahindra, and Kubota. The reason being is that I'm a new tractor owner and wanted to make sure I had a local dealer that would help me, give me advice,, and not be several hours away. After looking at the different tractors, checking the price, and talking to the dealers, the Kubota dealer met my needs the best. In addition, I had friends that had purchased Kubotas and knew the dealership. They all had really good service from them, although the service they had needed over the years had all been routine type service, which I was glad to hear that. So, my number one reason was the dealer. Number 2 reason was brand reputation. Doing research it seemed like everything was compared to either John Deere or Kubota. I noticed looking at used models, both the John Deere and Kubota held a higher resale value than other tractors. I figured if I was going to purchase a tractor, might as well try to get one that would hold the greatest value of the long run. My number 3 reason was that they had the tractor I liked. All the tractors were nice. I really liked the looks of the LS tractor, but the dealer was almost 3 hours away, so that ruled them out. Looking John Deere, I didn't care for their compact tractors, but their larger tractors were really nice. Yet, I couldn't figure out what in the world I would need a 100+ horse power tractor for and I absolute couldn't justify the cost. After looking at the Kubota tractors and thankfully my wife went with me, I really liked the Kubota cab tractors. I ended up picking the Kubota Grand L3560 HSTC. It has the hydro-static drive, came with loader and would pull the 72 inch rotary mower that I was wanting. The weight of my tractor with cab, loader, and beet juice tires is 5,157lbs (roughly). So, it has the weight I need to do the work I'm planning on doing. 37HP engine and 28HP PTO will run the items that I'm planning on using start first with the rotary mower. If money wasn't an issue, I would of went with the L6060, but since I haven't found that magic tree that money grows on, I had to find the best machine to meet my needs for the money I could afford. I think one of the biggest things that I'm glad I purchased on my tractor that I initially wasn't looking for is cab. I really didn't think a cab would be that important or that valuable. I was wrong. The cab has allowed me to go out and mow after work in 90 degree heat. I have had ZERO issue with bugs thanks to the cab. My wife gets all the credit for the cab, because if she hadn't went with me, I wouldn't of purchased a cab. Yet after having a cab, if I ever replace this tractor i will get another one with a cab. So, these are the reasons I picked my tractor.
@HamiltonvilleFarm
@HamiltonvilleFarm 5 жыл бұрын
Kubota was second on my list. Those are all 3 solid reasons. Glad you got one that works for you. That cab sure does make a difference 👍 thanks for the comment. Enjoy the tractor. I hope it serves you well for a long time.

These tractors DO have an EGR system, I recommend a bypass oil filter to help clean the soot particulates out of the engine oil. Soot is very abrasive and while there is no regen system, or DEF (diesel exhaust fluid), or DPF (diesel particulate filter), there IS an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) , so scrub out that soot and your engine will last way longer before you need to rebuild.

I have a 26 Max shuttle, and it is a beast, when I compared it to the other big names in its class the build quality as well as the PRICE made my decision for me. It was a no brainer. Bought a 2538 with cab last November. It's main purpose is snow plowing\blowing. I looked at deer (historically we've been a deer family), Kubota, Mahindra, and TYM. Deer had nothing available in Ontario until the spring (in our size range) Kubota dealer treated me like a leper. TYM had a very good offering and very knowledgeable dealer. Chose the Mahindra bad on dealer, location, 0 % financing, and got more tractor and implements for less than green or orange. Had to send the tractor in in January for it's 50 hour service, picked up, serviced, returned in one day. The dealer recognized that this is a work tool and needs to be available when the snow flies. Jim at Arnstein is the guy to see.

I bought a 2555 about 2.5 years ago. I'm coming up on 300 hours. It's a TYM with a Mahindra engine. I looked at the 4500 series and liked them a lot. One decision point was the transmission. I liked the gear but figured I would need the HST and I was right. The no DPF was an important selling point. One thing to be aware of is you have to run those engines to clean them. If you are one of those guys who likes to run around just above idle to save fuel, you are going to have trouble with your Mahindra (or other non-dpf engine). For me dealer proximity was important too since I don't own a vehicle large enough to tow it and therefor would be dependent on the dealer pickup/delivery. The other important issue for me was lifting capacity. Like yours it seems higher than comparable tractors. I carry around totes filled with 250 gallons of water with mine. Actually the 4540 might be a bit better for that since it is heavier. Good luck with your 4540!

Confidence in a dealership is very important. It is also important to be able to get service and parts. Best to purchase a tractor not too far from home. I purchased a Kubota L2501 because it was either going to be a John Deere or Kubota because of parts and service. The Kubota won because I am more confident with the dealer and am one that appreciates metal over plastic. Through the years John Deere has cheapened their products and are not all that great a value. The 25 HP engine also does not have that troublesome self cleaning function you talked about. I just have about 80 acres with lots of woods. l really don't need a tractor any larger for doing things quicker. I mostly grade. But I am going to get a grapple I have a lot of things I want to do with it, but mostly clean up and ridding of small trees roots and all and perhaps getting rid of a couple of smaller stumps. I do also have a rotary cutter, forks, wood chipper front loader and a quick hitch as well. I think John Deere looks prettier but I will settle on the power of orange. Nice video. May God bless!

Where I live you can go buy a Mahindra and a Harley at the same time. The Harley Davidson dealership started selling Mahindras a few years back. I am thinking they started to have something to sell at winter. Not riding a Harley in the snow.

Our 5500s weight 5000lbs without weights (roughly 54 engine ponies), the '07, which has a 1200 pound loader is roughly 6200lbs, our '03 has 4 rear wheel weights, which I guestimate to be roughly 120-130 pounds each, and it has 10 37kg wights on the front (roughly 6300 pounds total).

Yes please do. It's a very important decision. Make sure you are asking tons of questions from the dealer, friends, other tractor owners etc, then buy what you think meets all your needs at the price you can afford. I love my 4540. It's a beast of a tractor. Looking forward to hearing what you end up getting👍

We were looking for used, so no brand preference. Our requirements were 4 wheel drive, front end loader, no DPF, backhoe attachment. We got a good price on a 33 HP New Holland that met all our needs. And as a bonus, the AG dealer about three miles from the house just happens to carry New Holland so parts are literally just around the corner. 40+ HP would have been nice because it does struggle a bit on some round bales.

I looked at all the Tractor manufacturers before I decided on my Kubota L 4701, yes it has the DPF as all Kubotas above the 25 horse models are nowadays.But unlike the Deere and some others, the Kubota can and will regene while working and does not have to stop for this process, My reasons for going with the Kubota was reliability and the Fact that Kubotas are 100 percent Kubota, it’s my understanding that everything is made in house except for the tires, but they do even press their own wheels. Does this extend to the hydraulic hoses and fittings? I’m not sure, but this was big to me plus I don’t think plastic belongs on a tractor, these 2 things steered me away from John Deere regrettably because I would love a green tractor. John Deere has a formidable reputation, but they just could not pass the sniff test and they will only regene while parked, The Kubota parked or working will perform this function and that’s big ! But after 4 yrs of ownership I have no legitimate complaints.

I know older video, all good points. No DPF is nice but my concern with Mcrd is, that engine has to run much hotter all time time to do what the DPF is doing.i guess it's fine first couple years, just wonder if that shortens life of tractor at all? What happens 5,10 yrs I Don't know. Seems you haven't had any issues with yours. I'm comparing tractors now. I'm eventually trading my 42hp case IH for smaller tractor. That one is 30 years old and fires right up every time. I don't need models are built that way anymore, but I hope to be that lucky with purchase of new one. Thanks

I own a mahindra 1533 and the motor and transmission is fine, BUT everything else is garbage. Sway bars are cheap cast iron that break easily. I’ve bought two pair every year. I got tired of getting hydraulic leaks fixed so now I just let it leak because I don’t have time to take it to the shop every time it leaks. I wouldn’t buy another Mahindra. I’m gonna trade it for a Kabota or maybe a John Deer.
