I think it’s pretty normal that, since most teachers are female, girls just have at least a slight advantage in all spaces This includes: Make up work Questions Corrections Unfinished assignments Failed tests Volume of voice Contraband items . And this is speaking from personal experience. One of my teachers made the entire class half boy and half girl, which I didn’t realize until later, and rarely ever stopped the girl side from talking while making the boy side answer questions and get openly humiliated. I’d occasionally glance over at the girl side and see people straight up not even trying to look like they are listening

I once had a history teacher who was super strict and gave unfair markups and markdowns (if that’s a word) to peoples grade randomly. She assigned an unholy amount of work for a 3rd grade history teacher and was really mean for no reason. But I actually semi-liked her because she started a book club after school. We read Dr. Dolitle and things like that, it was cool. But she also wrote me up to the principal’s office twice in one day, first for saying the word ‘Rascal’, and second because later in the day she was mad that I didn’t get in trouble for the first incident. It was a very scary day for me.

*In Sixth Grade* I had a female teacher in 6th grade who hated boys, and would pick on the boys for talking, being too commanding in lesson, not participating enough, etc, and would grade us boys’ essays like 10 points lower then the girls. None of the boys I knew in that class got higher than 96% on final grades, and me, the studyholic who she especially hated because I asked questions and had no friends, got a B+. Other fun facts about her: She let the girls talk and play on their phones during class, and she picked favorites. For example, she had a policy where you couldn’t turn work in late, at all, once she gave me 0 points on an essay that I finished during lunch. This girl, call her Melody, didn’t try hard in school and the only two school “projects” I think she actually participated was the egg drop and the marshmallow Tower, you know, the dumb easy ones. Well this girl Melody who she loved, one dayforgot to do a major project we’d been given two weeks notice on, turned it in 2 days late, and half assed it, and she was given full points The day my pet died she told me to “just get over it” and to “stop crying” She would frequently call me (specifically) to her office and berate me about things completely unrelated to me, like how she was missing a pen, or all of her markers were dried out, or her keys were missing, and she called parent-teacher conferences where she literally refernced things I did on the first day of school (e.g. disrupting the flow of school and coming to class late, when on the first day tour of campus I stopped for a drink of water and she got mad at me because everyone else was lined up to go inside.) She also straight up lied, and forced me to apologize to my parents about not being ‘academically honest’ (cheating, which I did not need to do) or being loud (I asked lots of questions, but I was always polite, always raised my hand, and barely ever spoke out to my classmates because, again, I had no friends). She also yelled at the whole class sometimes for no apparent reason, and she would insult the boys, eg Your hair is ratty, you should get it cut; No one cares what you have to say; please tie your shoes, or do you not know how?; Take off that hat, you’re disrespecting your ancestors She would let the girls go to lunch and leave school earlier than the boys some days, claiming that she was waiting for us to quiet down, but in reality the girls were the ones who were chatting, the boys would sit up straight and shut up when she told us class ended because no one liked her and almost all of us had after-school obligations. She gave me detention for being distracting because I had a cold and I couldn’t stop coughing and sneezing She then got mad at me for skipping class She spammed my mother with so many emails about how I was disruptive and a bad student that my mother blocked her She brought her husband in for career day and yelled at him for being late and corrected him frequently about his job as a minor sales associate at a law firm She frequently asked me to put my head on my desk, “shut up”, and empty out my desk because I like to fidget, and the week before school ended she took all of the stuff out of my desk, but only returned the stuff “I didn’t steal from her”, so I ended up with a 60$ lost book fee from the school and a missing sharpie Probably the worst one was once when she assigned groups based on friends, she said “Looks like *I* don’t have a group, anyone want him on their team? No one? Really? Wow, you must not be very popular! *chuckles to herself* alright, you can join group... 4” I was very insecure about the lonely little potato I was and that comment made me cry in class, which she only responded to by saying, “If you’re going to be loud, do it outside” which only drew attention to my shame and made me feel worse. I HATED her.

My 2nd grade teacher is an angel. She retired last year and when she did SHE GAVE EVERY KID A HUG AND RING POP. And when I was in 2nd grade she always supported every kid. She did raffles and had this thing where if you did something good you could put your name on a board and at the end of the week you could take it down and get candy, a popsicle, or a small toy. If you didn’t get a name up on there you could get something anyways. She should be considered a saint.
