So glad you made this crucial video :) This has been the hardest part of the equation for me and gave me some great red flags to look for. When I was listening to a Fed Ex conference call last week, I really got the sense that the management felt like they didn't want to be bothered hearing their shareholders concerns and decided to hold off on investing my hard earned money.

It's very off putting when a management doesn't care about the owners who essentially put them in those positions.

I've always had a high opinion of FDX management, so surprised to hear that. I might need to give that a listen. Hmmm...

Good stuff as always. Interesting that Phil Town released a video in the last few days talking about managment. What is also noticed at the debt managment part: Who came up with this system? For 12 month we are doing assets/debt so we want a high number, for long turn we are doing debt/equity, so now we want a low number... Sure you get used to it, but why not do both the same way? You could also easily compare how much short term risk are they taking this year compared to their long term risk?

Perhaps, another area of poor management is poor acquisitions. If acquisitions are made into new areas, it could mean that the core business is deteriorating.

Not necessarily, it can also mean that they just want to acquire the competition. look at google or meta.

Hi Hamish Really appreciate your work. Just wondering if you know any good websites to get the info to analyze company's? I know you use companys annual reports but this is a bit time consuming for me. I also saw in another comment you recommended quickfs, but my understanding is it's only for US companys. Do you know of any that do US and Aus companies? Thanks a lot

I don't know of any free australian sites that offer 10 years of data. I usually go to Commsec for Australian data or I just manually find the data in annual reports on the company website.

Society gives primary, secondary & tertiary students academic achievements via percentage marks & A,B,C etc. Why not the management personnel, especially of listed companies, based on their past performances and also with any prior management/board positions in other companies? Standard @ Poors have some of this datum, along with other ratings agencies.
