Hi Steve, Nice job explaining the HC10.. I have used these with R390 and 390A's for some time and they are great.. My understanding is the HC10 is basically the IF, product detector, BFO, Notch of the Hammarlund HQ170.. The audio from the HC10 is very good for SSB and CW. I use 2 speakers, one witgh a 600ohm input for thr 390 and one with 8 ohms for the HC10. I like to use tghe wide filters on the 390 for AM Broadcast and SW.. Also the vernier tuning on the HC10 makes CW copy ever so sweet.. vry 73, Glenn WA4AOS DSM Labs (dot come)
