i know 2 mainstream artists who ive seen their reels and they looked like that were prob in a dusty garage for quite some time. really damaged on the outside. i think when these people take their reels and go broke they just store them somewhere and dont realize humidity and stuff can ruin them. prob aint even any good

Hammer was accused of being too commercial. But look at rap in 1996 going into 1997, very commercial time. You got the shiny suit bad boy era, you got Will Smith with the Men in Black song. I could easily imagine a hammer doing the men in Black song, music video, as a comeback.

No way seriously in 1996 Hammer was looked at as a joke to the teenagers of the 90’s. I was 16 in 96 and Hammer was looked at as a washed up sell out. The Death Row album isn’t that bad, but it wouldn’t have sold in the same units as Snoop and Pac.

I think that’s the interview from 96 with Suge sat at his desk. He was right that Hammer was massive in 1990, but in 96 it would have taken a miracle to resurrect his career.
