---------------------
Lord Jamar and Godfrey shared their thoughts on MC Serch's classic stories he told during his VladTV interview, including MC Hammer allegedly putting a hit out on 3rd Bass. Lord Jamar backed up the claims that Hammer had a big crew of "more than 100 people," which he witnessed during a show they did together. To hear more, hit the above video.

Eazy-E himself said to not mess with MC Hammer, that's the fucking confirmation right there. MC hammer was a born and bred street cat. Street warrior. Not fake ones you see now. One who really lived that fucking gangsta life. Very rare do you have artists like that, bona fide street cats in the music industry. Not glorifying or anything, but you'd be hardpressed not to respect their hustle.

Lord Jamar how in the hell what Hammer did is so corny? I'm so sick and tired of these rappers just straight shiting on Hammer. If you want to say he's not the most lyrical MC to ever come out then fine. But to ignore that man's contribution 2 Hip Hop just isn't right. Hammer employed hundreds of people from his hood and did a lot for his community. How many people has Lord Jamar employed? After hammer damn near every rapper took that man's blueprint when it came to marketing and promotion. Huge Brand Nubian fan but I just can't be on the hate Hammer bandwagon.

KLR Allday he’s talking from the perspective of the early 90s. I respect Hammers contribution now in my 40s but back then I was part of the hate Hammer band wagon. We all just wanted to see the most talented artist sufficiently recognized and compensated. But you’re right nowadays the hardest rapper would be falling over themselves to have his kind of success.

@@desalineredux435 I see. But I don't understand back in the 90s because hammer was one man lol. It's not like now with 20 mumble rappers ahead of the talented. Plus his music videos and performances were uncanny at the time. He had style and content in his music. Why would people hate on that even in the 90s to exchange for some low budget backpack rapper? Lol I'm just saying.

Preaching to Choir!! Going back and doing research...the Hammer hate then and now is just out of hand. Hammer had it all. The style, entertaining, content, creative, authentic, videos and he was a black man from the hood who made it. He may not be the "lyrical miracle" type but every rapper doesn't have to be a lyrical genius to be considered talented and get his props.

I think this is an intentional revisionist history simply because the world believes that Hammer was this nice guy who only was gangsta after Death Row, the guys from back then are trying to tell us that he rolled this deep because he was in the shit and then after what extended family he was in the entourage was involved, I think this man might be both, nice guy and the bad guy when need be

I think its the 3 person set up. It worked with BG Knockout and Dresta because neither of them were talking over each other. And both are really laid back. But with Godfrey in the mix he just does too much. He's great in a one on one interview. But in a 3 person set up Godfrey's comedy gets in the way. Plus, Vlad cuts them off too much. He could fall back a little. Let the artist talk. Lord Jamar was the only one with an actual story about Hammer and he couldn't even get it out right because Vlad was interrupting and Godfrey's looking for a punchline.

Jamar said Hammer was "corny" (6:00). Everybody who is first is corny. Hammer was the first rapper to bring rap to the mainstream. Among a few others, MC Hammer is top 5 as most influential rapper to bring hip hop to the mainstream. Corny is Redman and Method Man doing a deodorant commercial.

@@troyf6734 Sugarhill was very important rap pioneers. From '78-'81 rap was still an underground movement. Top 5 influential rappers to put rap in mainstream: 1. MC Hammer 2. Puff Daddy (not P. Diddy) 3. Run-DMC 4. Fresh Prince (not Will Smith) 5. Maybe Sir Mix-a-Lot These guys made rap "safe" for the masses. Before that rap was either not music (like rock n roll) or "that music the poor black people listened to." We gotta respect the Hammer.

Hammer was a super mainstream rapper but not even close to being the first manstream rapper.
@bawzbawz
@bawzbawz 3 жыл бұрын
@@guysimmons4305 I'm trying to recall who was before Hammer. Remember, this is mid-80s. Nobody thought rap was gonna last. There was not a Grammy category for rap. But Hammer was able get a Pepsi endorsement, a syndicated cartoon, and cereal in his name. He made 20 million in the 80s!! That's why people called him a sell-out because rap was meant for the "underground." No rapper did this at the time. Pop audiences (mainstream) went to Hammer because he showed that rap wasn't "dangerous." Before then, rap was considered dangerous and not real music. If Public Enemy was Malcolm X. Hammer was definitely MLK in rap history. The culture needed both.
