What was out there before that makes it possible for coins like this to show up there?

I mean, all fields were used for millenia around here. Even if uninhabited, they were likely traversed by the Saxons, Romans etc. As for this site, these fields as well as our garden surround the old corn water mill which dates back to the 1300s/1400s
