Like the hammered maybe the other bit will come up sometime. The only advantage of the bigger coil would be depth in places like pasture never ploughed or areas done to deat👍h. The extra weight will reduce swing speed and increase fatigue so could get less coverage. The average target is around 3 inches deep with some as deep as 7 inches. Hence why no stunning increase in finds. You might get more finds with a much smaller coil. Smaller coil faster swing, more coverage. Less fatigue!@@thescottishdetectorist Nice

@@oldplucker1 I don't think they make a sniper coil for the Deus II. Definitely something they should add though.
@kilner79
@kilner79 Жыл бұрын
@oldplucker1 not sure I agree with your theory the bigger coil gives more coverage gives like 5" extra over a 9" that's almost double the coverage over a 9 hour session on pasture you will have coverd like 43% more area and that's potentially 43% more chance of putting the coil over a gold coin if its there ofc thers wasted time pinpointing the target and also time wasted figuring out if its a masked target or just falsing iron as for getting tired I was out with my 13" for the first time over my 9" and I manged around 10 hours no prob probably still lighter than a nox 800 with 11"
@oldplucker1
@oldplucker1 Жыл бұрын
@@kilner79 Swing weight slows swing and fatigue. Big coils do go deeper so good for detected out sites and where targets are deeper. Most digs I do require small coils. Coverage per hour is equal big and small unless you are super fit and can swing the big coil fast for 7 hours. I cover more area with my small elliptical coils or the 9” on my D2. Small coils have way less EMI so sensitivity can be cranked right up.

Congratulations on 19K!🎊🎉 The pearl bead looks like its from 20th century costume jewelry. It is a coated bead that has the pearl finish applied to a plain bead of either glass or plastic. The coating was peeling off in a spot or two, which is a dead give away for costume jewelry. Still its a fun sort of find. The bronze fragment looks like it might have a little texture or decoration on one side, it might be worth a bit more clean up to be sure.

It would be interesting to see a comparison of a few detectors. (I have never done it myself, but I'm happy to tag along without knowing what you're talking about lol). For example, if you buried some samples of different things in a couple of metres of soil and then you and your mates, with different detectors, compared signals and guesses. You having a new detector made me curious about it.

I just caught your live video last night, and you found a large penny, It could have been an early Vickie, they are bigger and thicker than the common penny that you usually find. I didn't know they even existed, until Digger Dawn found one, and I lone the Brit pennies, so I had to add a couple to my collection. I have yet to find out what the lighthouse and ship means on them? Could you fill me in, please? Your knowledge on history is quite impressive. And always make your videos very interesting. i love this coil , as you say it isent much deeper then the 11" , but the coverage is great , and people think big coils dosent pick up small items , not the case for that coil . only thing i would recommend is to get a balanceblock , it matters on a coil as front heavy . and in my opinion atleast it feels alot better . and as a bonus , if your unlucky , the coilears dosent break, but the balanseblock ears dose. so 30 pound vs 350 is a good investment :)

Hi John, can I say without pregidous that I have been using my Deus 1 now for 9 years , and I allways move my coil 3 feet away from where I dig to stop any interference from the coil to the pinpointer when I start to dig as the P,pointer will pick up the signal from the coil and you miss the actual point of the item in the ground, but as you use a garret P,pointer I dont know if that makes a difference as I use the deus M14 P,pointer. GLHH on your next dig. Mac.

Hi John, absolutely love your detecting field trips and your knowledge of coins and historical facts. I recently watched the show (series) Detectorists which is just beautifully directed and acted, gives all your subscribers a great idea of what you and your friends enjoy (for those that haven't watch Detectorists I highly recommend) I discovered a short video on KZbin which is about Hammered coin making at the Tower of London kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKO3aYCYfJyoisk so is worth a watch for those who want to know about how those hammered coins are made. In one of your recent videos you mention about how you and your friends went detecting and all you got was hammered, I live in Australia and to get "hammered" is to get drunk lol....!!! Also I love that camping tent scene where you made a hole at one end for your feet... that was very funny. I await your next video with much anticipation, I hope you get that hoard your searching for and agree that those Roman coins that are extra tarnished/oxidised have been in contact with other coins.
