For a hot second there I thought there was Tinder integration on the map screen, the logos look so similar 😆 fingers crossed for next firmware update

I used this today on a trail ride and it was awesome. So helpful seeing what trails were the most popular sections.Also want to add Karoo is killing it with features lately, and hopefully this is a signal of a nice turn around for the Suunto brand. Smart marketing to get their name back in headlines. Suunto really does have a great product. The app is starting to come together nicely and that Suunto 9 peak is pretty sleek.

I'd be nice if you could select the types of bike in the heatmap and disable MTB if you don't want to see it. Gotta love the Hammerhead for the updates every 2 weeks. I had my unit crash mid ride and wouldn't turn back on and lost 8km until it managed to get off the load screen. Hammerhead support advised me they knew of the issue and it would be amended in the latest update which came out yesterday and sure enough it was in the release notes. Only had it crash once between the updates but love how quickly they move.

It is very common here in the UK that drivers do not indicate, especially in the SW. It can be very sketchy when approaching a roundabout or junction and no one is indicating. It's like we need to be mind readers now. Great vid as always keeping us updated. Great feature on the HH with Suunto heatmaps. It does appear that HH is far easier to see map information on screen and following routes than the Garmin.

Had the update last week. Thought: nah, not for me. Went for a fairly local ride and got stuck on roadworks for a tunnel under a railway. Actually got a bit lost cause of cul-de-sac's and dead ends in an unfamiliar neighbourhood. I've downloaded it now and gonna give it a go!

Hi, good video. Of course I fixed the heatmap immediately after seeing it, a very good complement when you can not find the area or want to find new roads. but… only suunto’s bike paths or even runners are on the heatmap?

Thanks for the info. I thought I would need a suunto watch. You said the planned route goes straight to the device. So no need for the dashboard anymore? I hope they do this for komoot as well.

Hi, I'm wondering how you get the screen of the Karoo in your video screen. I make some amateur video's myself and would love to be able to add in data like watts, Hr, speed in my videos. Or even better a screen like you are doing here. Any advice or links how I would be able to do this? Love your vids, keep it up!!

hi Shane, can you confirm that both models of the Karoo works with the heatmap? or is it only the Karoo 2 version?
@gplama2 жыл бұрын
Both models. The Karoo 2 having more storage space means it’ll be able to store more maps/heat maps for more regions at the same time.

Hi. Garmin is not that progressive when it comes to map features, updates, and intelligence. I still suffer a lot to upload routes and have to subscribe to strava to have access to those. Moreover, garmin charges for the local maps here in the Middle East. For me, am already decided to change the lagging and retro garmin platform
@gplama2 жыл бұрын
Connect provides a LOT of analytics, and a lot that Strava discards from ConnectIQ fields/etc. Global maps on the 1030 Plus should be free. I expect this to be the new 'normal' with future Garmin units with a lot more storage space.

Why can't the Strava heatmaps show up on the Hammerhead rather than the Suunto heatmaps? As you said the Strava heatmaps are a lot more rich in detail.
@gplama2 жыл бұрын
Because they don’t have an agreement in place to do this (it’d also take a lot of $$$$).
@talonlan2 жыл бұрын
Strava isn't going to allow that kind of information go for nothing.
@cliveastman64482 жыл бұрын
This is clever business by both HH and Suunto. We all upload our activities to Strava. So by working in partnership they will gain more detailed information and data where we ride, which in turn will help to grow their businesses and services. I am kinda now interested to see what HH market share is. Do they have the potential to be market leaders in the future? It appears that in some ways HH has surpassed Wahoo for such a new company. Next few years will be quite interesting. ....

I've just found another small annoyance. The route you've ridden already (being gray on the unit) will cover the heatmap, so you'd not know if you happen to ride there again. Not an everyday real-life scenario but it might be happen.
@talonlan2 жыл бұрын
So the place you have ridden doesn't show up so you don't know if the place you just rode can be ridden?
@NegyedMisi2 жыл бұрын
@@talonlan Well, if I rode there it must have been a heatmap, so I could just ride there again. I didn't want to be picky, I just realized the ridden route cover the glowing part, that's it. ✌️

Ain't garmin being bad, because off larger data? Bigger user base, bigger heatmaps.. also worldwide SunTrust is a tiny fish... less heatmaps more blank parts

I would never buy such a device. I carry my smartphone anyway for security reasons. So for the weight of a karoo I have a simple light battery pack and cable to charge the phone 3-4 times. Better at everything.
